Here are the cash lots we know as of now:

1) The Jericho Cash Parking lots. These were the old red lots and were operated by the team prior to 2009, but are now operated by the Jericho Church. These are shown on the map below. The two smallest lots are paved. The larger lot is unpaved (thin gravel). These are currently $40 cash. These red lots may open five hours prior to kickoff. Hot tailgating is permitted. It is a 4/10ths of a mile walk to the stadium.

2) The old Copper Lot is no longer operated by the team. It is accepting $25 cash. It is unpaved (light gravel). Hot tailgating is permitted. Plenty of porta-potties. It is possible this lot will open very early - earlier than the team lots, since it opened very early prior to the team taking it over. In fact, you can even park in there before they open and they'll come around and collect the cash from you. It is adjacent to Brightseat Rd, very close to Landover Rd., but it is accessed from Barlowe Rd. via Landover Rd. It is about a 3/4 mile walk to the stadium.

3) The Gray Lot is operated by the team. It is a permit lot and permits can be purchased by *some* season ticket holders for $350, but you have to ask for it specifically. Otherwise, the lot is for employees. In the past, the lot has also accepted $40 cash from the public for individual games, but this may have changed for 2012 in lieu of the fact that it is now an employee lot. If it is a cash lot, it is the only cash lot operated by the team, other than the RV lot.

4) The small lot on the southwest corner of Landover Rd and Brightseat Rd. It is paved. It is $25 cash. I believe this lot opens at least six hours prior to kickoff. Hot tailgating is permitted. It is about a 3/4 mile walk to the stadium. Note: Fan parking for this lot may have been discontinued.

5) The large lot on the southeast corner of Landover Rd and Brightseat Rd. It is paved. It is $25 cash. I believe this lot opens at least six hours prior to kickoff. Hot tailgating is permitted. It is about a 3/4 mile walk to the stadium.

6) The "Sheriff Rd. lots" - most are $25 cash. These are privately owned front lawns of homes resting on Sheriff Rd just west of the Brightseat Rd. intersection. Be sure to pick a spot where you won't be blocked in by other cars.

7) The "big brown building" lot is $20 cash. It is on Brightseat Rd at the sharp bend in the road adjacent to the gray lots. It is well lit and generally there are county police officers nearby directing traffic. It is about a mile walk to the stadium.

8) The RV lot. You need an RV and $100 cash. The attendant standing at Redskins Rd. will sell you an RV lot parking pass on the spot on game day for $100 cash.

9) The Library of Congress Landover Center Annex lot is $10 cash. Address: 1701 Brightseat Rd., Landover, MD 20785. Directions: Take Beltway exit 16, head west down Arena Dr, turn right onto Brightseat Rd. The lot is a few hundred yards on the right. A flier left on cars who have parked in this lot reads: If you tailgate, please cleanup all of your trash or your car will be towed by halftime. It is a one-mile walk to the stadium. 2010 Note: This lot has apparently closed in 2010 because of a break-in/burglary that occurred during a football game.

If anybody has info on other lots, let me know and I'll add them. Thanks!

Are they not doing the Apollo and McCormick cash lots anymore?

Great thread Mark.

It sounds like all of these new cash lots are ideal for the one or two game a year types who don't have STs or parking passes.

Now that nearly every STH has a parking pass, there should be plenty of room for tailgating in the cash lots.

You mean the old cash lots outside the beltway? No. Those are long gone, althought it's possible some of those lot owners could run a cash parking operation. But I doubt it, since there are no longer any shuttles running.

Had no idea. When did they do away with those? I parked in those lots until last year when I got my green pass, but if the traffic and parking situation doesn't improve in the green areas I was thinking of going back to the cash lots for the games I'm going to this year.

They did away with those at some point last summer. The team no longer provides cash parking directly.

I don't think they are advertising it, but I saw the signs. I will try to remember to snap a pic of the signs as I pull in for the TB game.

Mark, the two smallest former red lots are both paved. Only the largest old red lot is not paved; and it is gravel not grass.....but it does have a lot of weeks growing up in some places. There is a small island of grass in the middle that makes for a nice picknic/tailgate area; but no parking is done on that grassy area.

I got tired of seeing those threads pop up every week. I think next there should be a "Official Bar/Hangout to Watch the Games".

I have no idea when they open. I would bet the small one at Landover Rd and Brightseat opens and hour or two before the permit lots because I see them out there advertising as I'm driving in, but I don't know for sure.

Somebody posted that the Jericho Church lots opened at 8:00 for the Rams game.

For those lots you used to be able to get up to Jericho City Drive using Area Drive and line up from the entrance of Red Lot 4 on Jericho City Drive toward Central Avenue, but that was when they were Redskins lots. I'm not sure if you could get up Area Drive far enough to pull that off now.

That should still be the case since that's a public road. If the cops didn't mind before, I can't see why they would mind now.

Of course, I'm just guessing now since I now have a green pass.

I used to love tailgating in the large red lot. It worked out great on several levels. It was the closest walk to the stadium. At the top of the hill is a walking path about 10-12 feet wide that took you directly onto Redskins property. There is a great grassy area for those who prefer grass to tailgate on or throw the football. A lengthy tree line that provided sun protection and a personal bathroom for the beer drinkers :D. I suspect the trees and weeds were well watered on home Sundays. Plenty of extra space to set up since there were no white lines; alhtough the church parking staff did start "organized parking" before the FedEx staff did on the FedEx Field lots. And lots of space to park with no worry of hunting down a parking space. Only problem was leaving right after the game; but I don't think it was any worse than the FedEx lots.

My reason for doubt is that I'm guessing all but the two outside lanes on Arena Drive will be occupied by cars lined up for the FedEx lots, with the outside lanes used for incoming and outgoing traffic.

I suppose you could try using the inbound lane to get to Jericho City Drive and tell the attendants at the front of the lines you want to line up for the Red lots.

Awesome, you're the man :)

so I read the traffice thread, and the 12 ways to get to the field. I saw the 12th part was exit 17 to 202/landover. I'm leaving northern VA at 8 am, so I should be near exit 17 around 9:30ish. I can either go 495 to exit 17, or I can take 66 into dc, go up new york ave and hop on 50, and take that to 202.

Any idea which way is faster at that time?

edit: i could also take 495 to MD, hop on 295, hop on 50 to 202... but i'm starting to think thats too much switching directions to really save any significant amount of time

Just go 495, head towards MD and cross the brand new Woodrow Wilson Bridge, and keep on truckin to which ever exit you want ;) Going through DC is way more time consuming and the speed limit is much less than 495.

The WW bridge is a breeze now that its finished, they are still working on the exits before and after the bridge in some areas buts its smooth sailing, even at rush hour!

As someone who used to pay $25 for the tailgate lot (now the copper lot), I'm really frustrated that Snyder bought it. If anyone knows more about this small private lot at the corner of Brightseat and Landover, I'd love to hear about it. I assume it's right next to the copper lot? Or if anyone knows of a different cash lot on the West side of the stadium, I'd love to know.:helmet:

Me and 3 of my friends were going to travel to Fedex Field tomorrow and we didn't have a color parking pass, but I think we were going to cash lot parking. I wanted to ask you since you know a lot of things around FedEx Field:

1. How much is cash parking?

2. How do I get there?

3. What time should we arrive for a spot?

4. Do they run out of cash lot parking spots?

Thanks in advance for your help!

3. For the Chiefs, due to all the rain, probably any time up to noon, I would guess.

4. Find out and report back. :)

I used the Jericho Church lot for the last game and it worked out fine. There was more than enough parking for the game. Don't know about better opponents, but I would bet with the weather, how the team is currently doing, and the opponent we play tomorrow parking at the Church will be no problem.

I am a new season ticket holder and decided to bypass the parking permits for this season. So I was wondering what are the best cash lots around the stadium, and how much do they cost? A couple seasons ago I remember going to a grassy field with a good view of the stadium for $25.. On friday I got off on Arena drive and was instantly corralled into some $35 lot with no way to drive around due to conveniently set up cones...

There's a street just outside the "official" lots that has a row of houses which are opened up for parking by their owners before each game. It's usually $25, and if you make sure to pick a house where you can park without subsequent cars blocking your exit, it's damn convenient.

I don't remember the name, I just know it visually. After you turn onto Arena Drive headed towards the stadium, take the first right. There will be house after house after house with cars parked in the driveway and front yard. Some of these guys have space to hold ten cars, they make a killing every gameday.

MTH.....I think he meant turn left...I saw signs saying parking for $25 if you turned LEFT at the first light on the Arean drive exit. If people are charging for parking on their property more power to them, but I don't think its legal (probably some type of zoning violation). This will be interesting to follow.

Does anybody know if the $10 Library of Congress Annex parking was open for the Bills game? We drove by it around 5 PM and there was a police car sitting at the entrance. I hope that lot is back for 2010. It was a great place to park if you did not have a parking pass and did not mind the walk.

Man, do I sound so incredibly dumb that you actually felt like you had to link Mapquest for me? :ols:

Anyway, I did goof a bit, I confused Arena Drive with "Redskins Road," which I'd never really paid attention to. You take 202/Landover Road to Brightseat Road and turn onto it. Before you hit the official parking lots, you'll hit an intersection. This intersection is confusing, so bear with me. If you keep going straight, the road you're on is no longer Brightseat Road, at least according to Mapquest. It's Redskins Road. Turning left at the intersection puts you on the continuation of Brightseat, which goes on to encircle much of the FedEx parking zone. And turning right puts you on Sheriff Road, which is where the houses are.

I'm taking my 7 year old daughter to her first game on Sunday. We have good seats but no parking pass. We live in Roanoke Va and will be driving home right after the game. If I get on the road quickly we could be home by midnight. From looking at the maps you posted it looks like the best cash lot for us to get out early will be the Jericho cash lot and then we could jump on 495 south.

Any thoughts on the best cash lot to exit 495 south quickly after the game. We are willing to leave early to get the best lot for us. How early should we arrive to have a choice?

After this research is complete I'm going to search for the Extremeskins tailgate thread!

After this research is complete I'm going to search for the Extremeskins tailgate thread!

wow, drive home safe man that is a long drive

Mark is correct about the Jericho lot being closest. There are three and I would suggest the large gravel lot closest to FedEx Field. Used to be one of the red lots. Drive to the top of the hill as close as they will let you. There is a cut through at the top of the hill directly onto FedEx property.

Then text the Redskins to request a golf cart to pick you up in the first lot and they will drive you for free down to your gate. Sometimes you will get lucky and one will be waiting for handicapped and elderly. Getting a cart going back is tough to find sometimes but you can text the Skins again to pick you up from whatever gate you are leaving from. You can notify a parking lot attendant or text SKINS and your location to 78247. Alternatively, you may also call the Operations hotline at (301) 276-6100.

And guys....this is for the handicapped, disabled and elderly....temporarily disabled is fine.

If you ankle is really bad, you can get a wheel chair assist from one of the customer service windows

We thought the copper lot was great for it's relative distance to the stadium and amount of space we were allowed to take up. Friendly folks all around too. Only problem was after the game where the light wasn't turning for some reason resulting in over an hour waiting to drive the 2/10ths of a mile to the beltway. Unreal. Next time we'll just hang out longer in the lot afterwards I guess. Definitely going to return for a late season game.

Coming out of the copper lot, make a left on 202 and head west to 50, then take 50 east to the beltway. I made the mistake of trying to head directly to 495 on 202, they keep the light at Brightseat red for about 10 minutes at a time to let the bulk of the traffic out of the stadium.

Looks like the $10 cash lot at the library of congress buidling is back. I saw the signs at the traffic light on Arena drive today, but did not drive down to check it out. Anyways, if you don't mind a bit of a walk and want to save a ton of dough on parking, try it out. I parked there several times last year and recommend it.

Yep, parked there today, it isn't much further at all then some of the church lots which were charging $35. I walked for about 3 minutes and saw all these people paying $35 and I thought to myself, I just saved $25, nice. I got there about 45 minutes before kickoff and it was just about full though. Very quick and and easy to get out of after the game too. I parked in the green lot last week and it took about an hour to get out after the game.

The red you have highlighted should be on the other side of Peebles Drive. What you have highlighted is the old blue area which is no longer used for parking. The church parking are in the 3 lots on the other side of where you have red highlight.

So what's the latest on "off site" parking? I'm coming from Montgomery county and we're meeting friends from Annapolis with the tickets. They have parking at the stadium but we need to find a place for my car during the game. I'm guessing just parking at the shopping mall on arena drive is a bad idea. Mark, do you know how quickly the Jericho Cash Lots fill up? I am planning on getting there at 9am but am concerned they may fill up since they open up 5 hours prior to kickoff. And obviosly I am assuming since they are Cash Lotsm they are first come, first serve, no buying a spot there in advance?

It is the cash parking on the top left. It is just over a 1/2 mile walk to the stadium. There is a row of about 10 porta-johns always. They have the portable lights every couple hundred feet for night games. Basically unlimited tailgate space if you arrive early and pick a spot on the outer ring all the way around, my tailgate spot is about 50' x 50', with cornhole and ladder ball set up and room for a 2 year old to run around and burn up that energy.

Using 295 to 50 to 202 to Barlowe Rd is the easiest way to get in and out while avoiding the beltway. I am usually in my driveway unloading in Ashburn an hour after I get to my car.

We will for the Falcons game. We were running a little late because we wanted to watch the end of the Liverpool vs ManU match.... ****ing Robin van Pelt....lol... and we didn't want to try anything new and risk missing the kickoff.

I read what you said about them building another exit way, though. How was the trip out?

We parked at the Morgan Blvd metro station for $25 and I was home in Fredericksburg by 630. It did take us longer than usual to walk from the Stadium back to the metro though... there had to be 20k people walking on that sidelwalk.

It's exactly $25 to park at the Morgan Blvd metro. The walk isn't terrible and the good thing is, you can typically pull out and head right into traffic from there and not worry about the bottle neck at the gates to the stadium parking. It'll save you a lot of time and to me, is worth the walk.

This is true about the ease of entry/exit into the metro lots, but keep in mind that all tailgating is strictly prohibited. If you are looking to have a few cold ones by your car before the game I would park in the cash lots mentioned in the OP.

Apollo Dr lots are no longer. Cash parking is available across from the church on Arena Dr. inside the beltway (identified as Jericho Cash Parking on the parking map) Not sure the cost but believe $25 or $35. Tailgating is permitted.

I would be extremely surprised to find cash parking for under $40 within a mile of the stadium for the Dallas game. The operators vary their price based on supply and demand (you could find several relatively close lots for $20-$25 when the team was bad in '09 and '10).
