View Full Version : Hi, I'm a Giants Fan. (MET)

On the radio today, was talking about NFC East rivals and he said it was music to his ears that the Giants have so many injuries. We know he's a Dan Snyder slave with his hands tied behind his back and with no power, but is he for real?

This guy is not good, but that's a new low.

I'm with you, that sounds a little too politically incorrect to be coming out of any GM's mouth especially someone as seasoned as Vinny.

brandymac27
September-26th-2009, 03:50 PM
For crying out loud I sincerely hope this is not true. Even as a mere lowly fan I don't wish injuries on opponents (even Romo). As Zoony said, maybe this is just a big "taken WAY out of context" issue.

I doubt he means it as if wishing more injuries to anybody.

Sounds more like he is happy they won't be as good as they can be.

i'm sure it's true and we all think the same thing we just dont typically say it out loud. Not that I want anyone to be injured but if it happens to anyone in our division I try to see the bright side of it in terms of how it may help the redskins

I hear what you're saying, but (if this is true), a GM shouldn't say on the radio that he's glad people are hurt b/c now, maybe, the team won't be as good or suck.

Yeah, you don't gloat about it as an official of an opposing team on a radio or television telecast. That shows real lack of class.

We are the only team in the East who is not looking overwhelmed with injury.

That is a change and it's music to my ears as well.

Just like Vinny and Danny, I'm a fan of the Redskins.

I'd bet if you asked 14 D tackles if they were happy they didn't have to face Randy this season, 14 out of 14 would say "yes".

The fact that some on here are basically saying "good, I don't care" shows your own lack of class. Snyder has corrupted the Redskins organization. He has a puppet GM, he owns all media, he has run the Skins into the ground and now, the idiot GM who is a slave makes comments about a team that has beaten Washington 5 of the last 6.

Seriously, that's pretty sad from this fanbase. It's embarrassing. There's a reason the franchise is going nowhere and having players callout the fans is only part of it. Nobody has a clue from the coaches on up to ownership.

I just wish that "KoolBlue13" would injure his typing thumb. Then we wouldn't have to endure any more classless comments about being happy that a football player is injured (no matter WHO they play for). It's called "class" KoolBlue, and you don't have any.

And by the way, I'm a Giants fan. Seriously, until Danny boy dies or sells your team, this is what you're going to get each and every year.

Of course, the Snyder owned media will tell you differently and will brainwash you with nonsense propoganda.

Sick though.

Sorry Koolblue, I usually track with your take on things, but we disagree here. It just diminishes them, and diminishes the franchise.

Not sure why everyone is so upset about him saying this. I mean geez its not like he's WISHING injuries upon people, he's just glad that some of their star players won't be able to play so they have a better chance of losing and the Redskins have a better chance to move up in the standings as well. It's music to my ears too. Again, I never WISH for injuries, but if it happens....ill wipe my brow that we won't have to face a player that good.

the Skins were sucking for about six years before Snyder bought the team, so you can't really blame him for running it INTO the ground. Not pulling it out, sure. But they were bad before he got here.

I think some of our overly dramatic fans are getting a little out of control.

I would like to hear for myself "exactly" what Vinny said, before I start to insult our owner, our GM and our team, is all.

If he was gloating, that's classless. If he was just happy that we weren't the most injured team, I can jive with it.

You guys are letting sg0508 play you big time. He is a low life Redskin hater and alot of you just jump in with him. This is the reason I don't post here much and cringe when I read some of the posts on here. I am a life long Redskins Fan and will back my team no matter what. The last week, "AFTER A WIN" I have watched as Redskin Fans have held thier head down almost in shame, after a "WIN". But I refuse to be sucked up into this garbage!!!!! I will not cower while other team fans talk crap about my team, owner, or anyone associatd with this team. This low life just stated that until Dan dies, DIES he says and you guys suck it up like kool aid. You don't think that a low life like sg0508 is happy when somebody gets hurt on the Skins. He may not wish it but I bet he is happy to hear it. He is a Redskin hater and a low life ants fan. Crap on him and his team!!!!!

Yes Vinny smile about the Giants injuries because while they've built a powerful and deep team who has won a Super Bowl, you and little Danny have built a farce who still couldn't beat the Giants even when their starting corners were out.

Your 3 second round picks did Jack against their scrub secondary. Maybe if you hope enough, the Giants will lose so many players that they'll be down to guys off the street. Maybe then we can compete with them with the "talent" you've brought in.

It was posted by a Giants fan who's been harping on the FO the whole thread, with no link (and surely if this happened there at least would be an article mentioning it by now), and you aren't questioning the source?

Instead you are bashing the FO and draft picks, while sporting a sig featuring one of their draft picks. Why don't we wait and see if this even actually happened before going off? Even if you don't like the FO, you can at least say that kind of comment is not typical of Cerrato.

I don't know how credible you'll consider me, but I heard it as I was pulling up to my office.

Vinny said it. They were on with John Clayton, and he brings up Phillips, Vinny makes the comment and then follows it up with that grating laugh of his.

I was cringing. He's gloating about a 24-year-old star in the making who may have a career threatening injury?

No class.

I can't give a word-for-word recap but here's what i remember:

Larry and Vinny are doing their AM show and they bring in John Clayton on the phone to talk about some other stuff around the league.

Larry asks him about some of the big injuries that will effect this weekend's games (LT, McNabb, Westbrook, Randy Moss, etc) then he gets into the Giants.

He starts talking about Phillips and Vinny cuts him off, saying essentially "Wow, yeah tell me all about Phillips, I love hearing about stuff happening to our rivals -- AHAHAHHAHAHAH!"

I just shook my head, like, dang, I'm sick of losing to the Giants too, but Phillips is a guy a lot of folks on this board wanted to draft, he's a young guy who may never play football again, and Vinny is yukking it up like a 10-year-old boy who just heard his first boob joke.

It's not some massive scandal or sin, just a look at an ugly side of the guy.

So if I get you right:

Larry asks Clayton to talk about games that will be effected by injuries this weekend...

Clayton starts talking about varioius teams and the injuries that might come into play...

Clayton then mentions Phillips and the Giants...

Vinny cuts in and says something like "Yeah, tell us about our rivals, I love hearing stuff like that" (stuff that effects our rvals), then lets off a patented Vinny laugh...

Am I understanding you correctly?

If so, then yeah, this will end up getting quite a bit of attention from several corners of the media lol ...

I learned when I was about 7 years old to not make fun of someone else's deficiencies because if they were still able to do better than me, despite those deficiencies, it would be very embarrassing.

I guess Vinny called in sick that day. And I hope someone calls him out when an injury-depleted Giants team does better than the healthy team that he built.

Well he stopped doing his show at the end of last year. I can't remember specifics since it was a while ago, but when the public would ask him critical questions about team performance he would lash out and come back with ignorant retorts toward fans.

I'm pretty sure it's one of the major reasons why he's not doing his show this year or anymore, and last year Brian Mitchell and Kevin Sheehan talked about it...again I don't have specific recordings or anything as it was a year ago.

I listen to almost every Sports Fix show (used to be called The Locker Room), and the John Thompson show that airs. I'm a huge fan of both shows. Tony Kornheiser is pretty good too.

Why would he be talking about injuries on the Giants anyway? We don't play them again until 4 days before Christmas. WTF?

Uh....injuries for the Vagiants translate to losses = skins clinch division. Not to mention Philthy is banged up. So if anytimes the time for the skins to go on a streak, it's now.

You sure on Monday's it's not just him being interviewed on the Mike & Mike show that airs at 6am? He doesn't have his OWN show is what I mean.

yeah, coincidentally enough it's called in the redzone with vinny cerrato.

it airs 8 am on mondays and fridays iirc.

sheehan or someone cohosts to move it along, but it's vinny.

Because someone on ES said so :silly:.

I watch Redskins Nation and Vinny is on every Thrusday (during the regular season) and I have NEVER ,EVER seen him laugh or rejoice in another team's woes. Audio is subjective especailly since to let some of you "Redskins fans" tell it Vinny Cerrato is the debil himself.Hell bent on ruining Redskins football for us fans for all eternity:evil::evil:.

Second why would he be happy that The Giants have a rash of injuries we've already played once this year and did it help us then???? We play again in November-December??.By then anything can happen..so as I said I call bull****,until proven otherwise WITH PROOFand not heresay.
While I'm assuming something close to what has been mentioned was indeed said--having a Skins fan or two say they heard it as well helps--there's still something extremely weird about all this lol...

First, that nobody on this damn site heard it and thought about making a thread about it? No effin' way.....not with as many here who hate Vinny, a thread would have been started immediately. Yet like I said I'm assuming something close to what was reported was actually said...so why didn't ANYONE on extremeskins comment on it? If Vinny's shoelaces are untied we get a 12 page thread talking about how worthless he is. If Vinny's eyes look a little red during an interview we get 3 separate threads about how he "must" be doing cocaine lol...but Vinny "gleefully" proclaims that player injuries are "music to his ears" and nobody on extremeskins bothers to make mention of it....can't wrap my head around that...

Is it that Giants fans tune into Vinny's radio show when Skins fans do not? lol...I find that insanely hard to believe. But hey, maybe that's the case...

Also, when I did a Google search for "Vinny", "Giants" "Injuries" and "Music to my ears" the only result I got was the one from the Giants' message board Big Blue Interactive...with as much of a lightening rod as Vinny and the Skins have been all offseason and over the last two weeks, I can't believe that only the BBI message board bothered to make mention of whatever Vinny said on the radio.

Only thing that even remotely makes sense right now is that what was said didn't sound nearly as bad as it's being made out to sound here...but that doesn't ring true with me, either lol.

So I have no idea what to make of this story...other than, if the only people who bother to make a big deal out of it are the Giants fan who created the thread on BBI and the Giants fan who created the thread here, then I'll shrug it off and continue on with life lol ...

I've seen things said get twisted by Redskins fans and it wasn't at all what was said. So while I guess I should believe my fellow Skins fans..I don't. There are some ES poster that I do believe. Most ES posters ..not so much.

Not only that the local media (*cough *cough) Washington Post and national media outlets, would have a field day with this.In a week where you had fans booing at the 1st homegame and win of the 2009-10 season.A rookie LB twitering insults to some fans(NOT all Redskins Nation) and CP saying everyone in the Redskins organization is on the hot seat. This would be the oh so lovely scoop of french vanilla ice cream ontop the apple pie.

I mean seemingly everyone is picking Detroit to upset the Skins tomorrow.
JLC would piss on himself revealing this juicy nugget on NFL Network.

Better yet where the hell is Brandon Jacobs he was saying LaRon was a dirty player after the game against us Week 1.The Giant players certainly had alot to say after the Dallas game (I agreed with what was said about Flozell Adams) . Antonio Pierce's big ass mouth WOULD HAVE had waaaay too much to say.Tom Coughlin?? He was running his mouth about a 3rd string QB they cut ,that we signed.

Am I to believe NO ONE from the N.Y Giants organization wouldn't be bitching and moaning about Vinny Cerrato "rejoicing" in their injury situation?;)

This just doesn't smell right. I'm with Santana 89 and Califan on this one, no way this stays below the radar.

Otherwise, we'll just consider this trolling.
