View Full Version : What the heck... a bright spot

Chad Rheinhardt played a very solid first game. In pass blocking he seemed to be rarely confused or beat. He committed no penalties and the Redskins looked like they did not have to adapt their gameplan at all for him.
Otherwise, we were crap. The biggest agony for me is why does the blatch/williams defense always make a struggling rookie qb look like a bloody all pro. Think about it. When was the last time we embarrassed a rookie qb. They always look good against us! How is it we are the only team that is incapable of making a rookie struggle?

Rhino definitely had a good first showing. Too bad it'll be completely overshadowed by the loss.

Rhienhardt did play a good game we should have run the ball more to his side.
The problem with the defense is too much cushion late in the game when Calvin Johnson got the first down Rogers gave was way past the first down marker all Stafford needed was a quick pass and guess what Detroit got the first down.

Thanks Cap obvious! I mean really... lets have someplace where we don't have to hear how bad we were.

This team had 2 losses in a row. Last year doesn't matter for anyone.

I didn't notice him in particular.
I just know our OL is bottom 3 in the league.

Moss also could be held up as having a better game.
Overall though, inescapably though we played like crap. I now need it to be proven that we are not one of the worst teams in the NFL. All evidence leads to that conclusion.
Still, solid game rhino... you win by being the best of the worst. Small consolation, I know.

Hunter Smith by a mile.
Lock this guy up.
Make him the highest paid punter in the league NOW!
Not kidding. What's his average 50? and he's a redzone threat.
More rushing tds than Portis.

Hunter Smith has been a bright spot.
But the fact that he is the bright spot speaks volumes. :chair:

I was thinking about starting this very thread, but figured it had already been made. Silly me, I was searching for Rinehart;)
Anyway, I was worried about how he would hold up, but as someone else said, I didn't even notice him, which is a good thing. If he can put together a few more games without me noticing him, then I'll consider our RG spot at least semi-solidified for the future. And hey, 1/5 of a future O-line isn't half bad, right?
Seriously though, it's something we need to address. Campbell is currently on pace for over 4,200 yards this season, which still isn't enough for some folks. Regardless, if Snyder decided to stick with him beyond this season, we're going to have to accept the fact that he's a QB with a long release, which means he needs the best protection we can get for him.

We have to be the worst defense ever against rookie QBs, or even young QBs in general.
Can we get a stat on that or something? I've got to agree with that assessment. We always make young QBs look like veterans.
Oh well, God willing this will be the straw that breaks the camel's back with our schemes.
Oh, and yeah, Rinehart was solid. Good to see.

OP, tough to find a bright spot when losing to Detroit; but, this was definitely it. I was very impressed with his play. Then again, it can't be hard to look good when playing next to Rabach.

The Rhino and the Hunter both looked good today.
I would add Doughty also. The guy plays like he means it.

Yeah, Doughty flashed a couple of time. Hard to pick anyone on the D, esp. in the secondary they way they were torn up. We saw Reed make a few positive plays. Who knows how many negatives though?

The Lions played mistake free football. The played the way that had too. This team will win more games. We got hurt by coaching like usual. Not nearly enough touches for portis. JC is playing very good. He was at about 70% completion rate coming in today JC to moss was the number 1 QB to WR combo numbers wise. Randel El fair catching every punt and some ref calls really hurt. The non face mask call was terrible! Even though Detroit played a flawless game and we were flat in many aspects we still had a chance to win at the End. Now only if Favre coulda came in!
