I think a lot of us agree we want Zorn gone, but who would me the interm coach if Zorn was fired today. I would say Danny Smith are Special Team coach, I think a lot of the players respect him.

I guess I missed the interm part. I think if we fire him we need a real coach because Zorn is doing so many jobs at once. I don't think we could just promote someone to that spot and expect them to do 4 jobs.

I was told that on the plane home someone overheard Danny tell Vinny, "Pepper Rodgers is still out there."

I'm sorry, but who is Pepper Rogers?
Also, I'm starting to come around to the idea of getting Cowher somehow...
Ideally, I'd like a younger coach though that we could start a foundation with.

That is the main problem. Zorn is in WAY over his head. He was brought here to make JC better and to be the OC. Now he's the head coach, calls the plays, and still is working with JC. He needs to give up play calling and let Sherman Smith or someone else do it. He just has way too much going on for a first time head coach.

Jimmy Football. He is full of energy and he could sell stuff for Danny before the game. I wonder though how much you'd have to pay Bud Light to get him?

Shannahan is still making bank from the Broncos for doing nothing.
He'd lose easy millions if he came back to the NFL this season.
I know it's probably been talked to death but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him take over next season. I think Zorn was a "F it, lets see what happens" move until Shannahan was available. I personally would like to see a new HC, OC, DC & O Line coach in 2010 if they can't figure out wtf they're doing.

I think the worst thing they can do is fire Zorn, especially mid-season. I've posted numerous times how the biggest thing the front office and much of the fan base lacks is patience. Lets see how this team responds to adversity and give them some time to at least try to right the ship.
But to answer the question, how about Doc Walker

I wonder if the Dan has already picked the replacement coach and is waiting for the bye to bring that person in. It would be really difficult to bring in a new guy and fire the HC, OC and QB coach with only a week to prepare. If Zorn can't find a way to end this poor excuse for play than my bet is the bye week we see a change made.
*EDIT. On second thought - this team doesn't look or play prepared anyway....
*EDIT #2. On third thought - Fire Zorn and Blache now. The Dan can take over for Zorn and Vinny can be D coordinator. Lets just see how big this disaster can get before starting over next year.

Zorn isn't getting fired. Snyder hasn't actually fired a coach since Marty. Now, if Zorn resigns....
Out of the "high profile" coaches out there, I originally wanted Shanahan...he is a good coach, but also past that magical age limit of when coaches tend to stop being very successful.
Now, I think Gruden may be the best option. Has won a SB, was a "tuck rule" away from taking another team there. Was coach of the Raiders, so has dealt with a Snyder type in Al Davis. Is relatively young. Players like him, yet has a temperament to get after lazy players. We have more talent than those TB teams he ended up losing his job from. Came from the same tree as Zorn, so JC and the offense won't have to totally change everything...and ran that offense with many different types of QB's, even some QB's that have slower releases.
Yep....the best answer would be Chucky.

Why is it bad to fire someone midseason? If we actually are firing a coach, it means we're already doing crappy. I'd rather get a new coach in here and get things moving so that when the off season comes, some things are already in place. Hiring someone after the season means there is a lot to do in a much shorter amount of time.
We're stuck with JC. I'd rather get an established coach in here, let him see what Campbell has and once that answered is made we can move forward at the end of the season.

Didn't we already have this thread?
1) Jerry Gray
2) Sherman Smith
3) Stump Mitchell
4) Joe Bugel
But who calls the plays?

Whoever won the Madden tournament should call all the plays on offense and defense! Then we can promote Danny Smith for the day to day coaching duties! We will go to the Superbowl with that combination!

I agree for all of the same reasons noted above. I particularly like how ticked Chucky gets at his players. We haven't had that since Marty.

I don't want Zorn canned today. That would be stupid.
Give him the season and see if he can pull us out of this mess.
If he can't, can everyone in January and rebuild the whole mess from scratch.

Exactly. I'd say Buges. But if the season is already lost, why doesn't Danny Boy make himself the HC? Then maybe, just maybe he'd understand the importance of the position and what it takes and also the importance of a quality GM.

Mike Shanahan is the perfect coach for the Washington Redskins.
Shanahan is a coach who also runs the WCO- but he heavily favors the run. Washington football is all about the Run.
Bring him in and his complex blocking scheme. Imagine him reuniting with Portis. He'll need to grab a bunch of OL, and he'll also want his own QB.

Yes the team looks like crap, but in actuality they're only 1-2. There is time to improve without making drastic changes like firing the HC, benching the QB that is actually playing pretty good, etc...
Now if things don't change by the middle of the season, maybe....
