View Full Version : Are Our Receivers Good?

I keep hearing about how terrible Jason Campbell has been this year, I'm not arguing that but I had to look at the stats for my self.
I look it up and he's 9th in passer rating (well above 90)...Top 10 in yards, and completion percentage as well. Obviously not TDs.
But Overall his numbers are that of a very good QB (top 10 statistically). So Im asking, is it just that our WR's and TE's are playing great and any QB would put up these number.....I'm willing to bet it's not the playing calling that is giving him good numbers, because that's been poor IMO....Or is he just not playing so bad?
It's got to be one of the 3 Him, the Receivers or the play calling....what is it in your opinion?

I'd say we have decent receivers. QB17 doesn't take many chances so there's the whole "no risk, no reward" scenario. Playcalling? Who knows? It's football, too many variables to pinpoint why. But then again, who cares? We're losing!

It's confusing to me. He's on pace for 4200 yards, but 16 TDs. When is the last time you ever saw a QB throw for over 4000 but less than 20 TDs? I'm not saying Campbell will throw for 4000, but just for argument's sake. When the numbers are that anomalous, you can't necessarily point to bad playing being the sole reasoning for it.
I think it's really a testament to scheme and playcalling within the red zone. Obviously Campbell has his deficiencies too, but we ARE producing between the 20s. I really want to know what would happen if we at least tried throwing the ball in the end zone.

I just dont understand why we cant get our young guys involved in the passing game. Every other team seems to be able to do it.
-Mario Manningham
-Steve Smith
-Percy Harvin
-DeSean Jackson
-Eddie Royal
-Pierre Garcon
The list is pretty damn long.
They cant be that bad, its gotta be scheme, or possibly Jason locking on to Moss and Cooley. I think its Zorn personally.

Like you said that's what happens when your coach can't call redzone plays.

Take a look at this thread everyone, its got some really good hard evidence. It looks like it really may be JC who is missing wide the christ open DT and MK.

That's exactly my point...He's putting up Very Good Numbers, and it's obviously not because of our play-calling. Zorn has not been good in the redzone thus far. It's gotta be either him or the Receivers. Very Ironic, because both of them have been criticized heavily lately.

This is my biggest issue as well. How come the Skins never seem to be able to get the young guys involved? The only way they will get better is if you give them the opportunities to get better. I have been disappointed that MK has not been more involved, but when he has gotten the ball, I haven't been disappointed from what I've seen.

Kelly and Thomas have got to step up! U cant put this on Campbell so far. All I can say for Campbell is throw it up to Kelly or whoever sometimes and trust your WR to come down with it.

Are receivers are better then then people think. When JC went down in 07, our receivers were having a terrible year, when Collins came in, all our receivers were making plays and scoring touch downs.
All our receivers need today is another QB to get them the ball, because Jason is missing the wide open receivers and throwing into double and triple coverage. Plus not even throwing deep because he cant hit anything over 15 yards.
It's obvious Zorn is keeping him in, so don't expect anything out of any of our receivers for the rest of the year, maybe 5 touchdowns all year between every one of them. Theres nothing they can do but catch Jasons famous 7 yard pass all year.
I never wish harm on any man, but hopefully at least a moose will bite JC hard enough to keep him out a game so Collins can prove we can score and win with him leading the team.

So your saying Todd Collins would be able to put up these same numbers (or Better)?
Not disagreeing with you just asking.
If our Receivers are good enought to make Todd Collins a top 10 QB, they should't hear anymore criticism, for a very long time....All Im saying his somebody is getting more than their share of the blame. To you it seems to be the Receivers, and I wouldn't disagree with that either.

Todd Collins would have a lot more TD's than 3. Really only 2 for Candle.

Well with dropped passes in the redzone it does hurt JC's td's..but whatever other than that I honestly think our receivers suck, and most people who arent fans(homers) agree with me..watching games we laugh at how they dont play physical, they dont make a play for the ball, or they just give up all together..it may just be frustration mixed with a lack of contribution to get into the game, but IMO they are in the bottom of the league. Especially when you look at the money they make.
