I am in a 12 team, standard scoring, high stakes ($500 per team) league where we can protect one player each year. I won the league last year and will thus have selections 12 and 13. I am already protecting Ricky Williams (over Harrison) and am planning on selecting RB & a WR. In my mock drafts, after considering the 12 protected players, I will probably be choosing from the following: at RB (#'s 15 - 20) Jamal Lewis, Stephen Davis, William Green, Corey Dillion et al. and at WR (#5-10) Horn, Holt, Plaxico, Boston.
Thoughts? Any advice you can provide would be appreciated.

Well, as you know - it's always a bit of a crap shoot. I've played Fantasy for a while and have won my league 2 of the last 5 years (including last year) - which probably means I will finish last this year but - I would take Willie Green (possibly Dillon) and Boston. Of course there is still a lot of practice and preseason games to go, which could change everything.

I like Dillon a lot but his huge downside is that he plays for the Bengals. Still I think the risk is worth it. At WR I would either take Horn or Boston. It really depends on who you like.

The one thing I forgot to mention was that I have had C. Dillon on my team for the past tow years (traded him away last year) and consequently have a bad taste in my mouth. I am trying not to let my past experiences with him taint his possible selection, but how can it not? Last year, he had 5/6 games where he didn't do diddly sh*t.
My only hope is that he is selected before my pick. Thanks for the input!

I had Dillon two years ago and Green last year and I cut Green halfway through the season because when he did get to play, he scored 4 or 5 fantasy points. I said Dillon because he seems to pretty well even in his circumstances. I think Davis will have trouble in Carolina and Lewis has prior injury concerns. Dillon is also the most capable of having a huge game. He does hit his slumps but he can also pile on the points.

i would take davis or dillon maybe tiki barber..., and david boston. i really think that stallworth is gonna take away some of horn's production and that boston will be a go-to-guy for marty...
mavin lewis wants dillon to take on a leadership role this season and it seems that he is gonna give it his all. i reallly think that the bengals have some good talent on both sides of the ball and will finish with a better record than the cowboys. their WR corps is solid, and kitna is... capable. they have a good OL... should be a solid year for dillon.
actually i wouldn't draft boston that soon, but you have a lot of time until your next pick... i would draft both davis and dillon and look for koren robinson, peerless price, amani toomer and then get a QB on the snakeside pick.

Davis would be a solid pick, most carlonia backs have put up solid TD numbers. Green is young but really started to come on at the end of last year. Dillion reported late to camp, may be disgruntled, reports are hes tired of losing. Still should be good for 1000 yards and 6 to 8 TDs
I think Plaxico could have a big year, Maddox's favorite target. Boston is coming off an injury. Horn is getting old, although he is in a contract year. Horn signed a one year deal to stay with the Saints. Holt puts up lots of yardage numbers but not many TD's.

I would go with William Green as one pick and probably Burress as the other. I'm staying away from Boston this year. I'm not as worried about his injuries as much as I have a feeling he is not going to enjoy Marty Ball. He has a new deal so he doesn't need to come out and have a great year.

in my 8 team league i am hoping to grab boston in the fifth or sixth, depending on how the runs go... i'll probably stock up on RB's as always...
