Any of you guys heard of this new site Lockerz?

Well basically it's ran by some Amazon X-CEO and all you do is answer daily questions and get points (granted it's only 2 points a day) but I was very skeptical until on a message board I frequent a long time member actually received his Wii - but for some reason when he redeemed it they said he redeemed two? And he has posted pics with the two wii's and the shipment info and everything - so now I am 99.9% convinced this thing might be serious.

Now from what I know it's still in it's beta and only way in is by invites (and if you get 20 friends to join you get double points and some other cool stuff) also from what I gather is they refill their stock frequently and that they give stuff away like games for 100 points up to iPod nanos, touch, ps3, wii, and a lot more that of course cost more.

Now I hope this isn't considered spam - I will give out invites if people are interested in checking this out - just pm me with your email and I'll get an invite out to you.

Not bad, it looks like it might end up being a pretty cheesy service, but right now it looks like they're basically giving stuff away to get you to sign up. It's not unlike what Microsoft did with their Bing Cashback. There were people that literally made $1,000's off that promotion by buying and re-selling when MSFT was giving 30% back in cash for eBay purchases.

They're definitely just trying to get you involved with the site, but it should be pretty easy to get cool stuff like free XBOX360 games...anyways, if KingSpadee runs out of invites, I got some left over.

Just another update - not as long of a member but still just trying to show people that from the looks of it - it seems pretty legit. They said they are restocking on the 15th - and when I cash in my points I promise that I will post pics of my items I receive - not sure if I will save up for something big or get a game yet

Man, I got 26 points on that initial thing, but they took them all away. I've emailed them about it, I got the points and then they all disappeared. That's 13 days of logging in! I'm hoping they'll maybe stock the next Modern Combat if it's out when they do the re-stock, and I'll magically have enough points to get 'er done.

I logged in and answered their damn questions this morning. I mean, it's pretty obvious that the games, etc. are just rewards for us providing them with market research. I'm just annoyed that everything is out of stock, it better not be out when it's time for me to redeem my stuff.

I don’t actually think that this is their business model. Plus, you don't just get 40 cents a page view. If that was the case Drudge would be making 100 million dollars a year. He makes a lot (7 figures), but not 100 million worth.

In fact, I doubt they are making much money (if any) right now. Like Twitter, most online companies have no revenue for a while until they build up an extremely large following and develop/create revenue steams. This site is financed by a media company and has investors and sponsors (like Twitter right now).

Since this is the beta site, I believe they are creating a following and then going to create revenue steams in the fall.

The PTZ level changing is what gets me. I have a feeling you will be right. Once more and more people start using the site, it'll be alot more than 600 points for a 360 or PS3. I haven't bothered inviting anyone, I don't really care about getting double points.

Frankly, I'm beginning to wonder if this site is mostly a sham. Basically, they're getting free market research from everyone who signs up and answers their questions, and supposedly you get these prizes if you answer enough of them.

However, the only prizes I've actually seen that are available are IPOD skins, computer desktop backgrounds, and the ability to donate to charity. Any maybe that stupid concert thing. But the video games, the electronics, conspicuously always out of stock.

Also, I hate to point out how stupid this site is in some regards, but those desktop backgrounds they're selling for 15 points each? Why anyone would pay for those when they can just right click and set them is beyond me.

I didn't get one, not yet anyway. Though there is an announcement on their main page. Part of me still thinks this is slightly B.S., that some of the better prizes may never be available. Maybe accusing people of cheating and taking away their prize points is their way of getting out of it.

Yeah you could be right. But I agree, its strange that none of the good stuff is ever available. I have 130 right now and wouldn't mind getting a new game for 360. My ultimate goal was to get a ps3, but I don't think I have the patience to build up 625 points.

The site does seem to be pretty weak and not nearly living up to the hype. Below is some info on the next redemption dates. If they can't have prizes in stock quickly enough, then just increase the PTZ values now so they aren't so easily attainable and they won't blow thru their inventory!

6. When is the next "restock" happening? Due to huge traffic issues from our last redemption, we are no longer pre-announcing re-stock dates. However, we can say that the next redemption event will be limited to Z-list members and will occur in November. There will be a general membership redemption before the end of November as well. Beginning December 1, PTZ values will increase by 4x on average although there will be many more ways to earn PTZ than ever before. Even with the PTZ increase, prizes will still be very attainable for the active Lockerz member.
