According to JLC's twitter the Bucs just sent Gaines Adams to the Bears for a 2010 second round draft pick. I remember being so upset that he wouldn't drop to us. I guess he was a bust.

Bust might not be the right word, considering the Bears are willing to part with a second-round pick to acquire him. He's certainly a disappointment after being drafted in the top five, but second-round picks aren't insignificant. Someone in Chicago has seen enough of him to give up considerable value.

He looked pretty good against us from what I remember.

How the hell did the Bucs pry a 2nd round pick away from the Bears for this guy? Wow.

They picked up both Brandon Lloyd and Adam Archuleta after we jettisoned them. Not sure I'd use the Bears as a good measuring stick. A 2nd round pick is way too much for Adams.

I agree with this. Plus the Bears aren't necessarily dying for defensive ends as it is.

And so it begins all the teams that are smarter than us knowing season is lost but stockpiling draft picks unlike the skins who trade them away for useless players

I'd think Montgomery is better than Adams. I wish that guy was healthy so we could've traded him for a second.

Isn't he basically a situational pass rusher at this point? I mean does he do anything else? And does he even do that good?
Bears should've traded for TO. That could very well put them over the top. I mean he's on a one year deal. Pick him up, put him with your cannon armed QB and make a run.

I haven't heard his name since his rookie year, which IIRC wasn't that bad, was it?

You think Anthony Montgomery is worth a 2nd round pick? I don't think we could get a 4th for Montgomery.

Bucs won the trade. I hope we can get some sort of extra draft picks before the trade deadline.

He is pretty close to a bust. I'm glad he didn't drop to us, IMO Orakpo is a much better DE...hopefully we can see him more at that position.

LoL this thread is hilarious...
Ogun is 32. Alex brown is 30. Adams has not put up numbers like Ogun has but he has matched Brown in sack output for the most part. The Bears got talent at a position in which they are aging.... 26 year old talent.
This is the type of trade a franchise SHOULD make. The Redskins would have traded the 2nd for Ogun and you guys would have cheered.

I don't think Adams is worth a 4th, let alone a second, but I think Monty is better than Adams, so if they could get a second for him, why couldn't we get something similar?

Adams is putting up 6 sacks a season. Monty could barely even get on the field.

People here dont have good memories.. This is the same guy that got repeatedly benched because he didn't have the heart or motor and Golston with less talent got to start

I'd say Montgomery is probably worth a conditional 6th or 7th rounder.
