New Rankings:
1) Gators
2) Texas
3) Alabama
4) Iowa
5) CIN
6) TCU
7) Boise
8) Oregon
9) LSU
10) GA Tech

How does Oregon only move up 2?
If Boise and TCU both win out, one gets the auto-bid. Will the other get an at-large?

I'm just happy the Canes managed to pull it out on Saturday. Too close to call. We're definitely not back yet, but we're also much better than we have been. We'll see what happens, though.

Saturday is going to be a classic between Bama and us. If we manage to score 17 or more it's a win for the good guys.

SMU is projected for a bowl!!!!!!!!! :wavetowel

I'm not kidding, if SMU makes a bowl game this year, I am not only 100% gonna be where ever they play, but I will go streaking around the stadium.

As far as Week 10 goes, these are the games I care about this week:

UCF-Texas (boring)
South Carolina-Arkansas
Tenn Tech-Georgia (see UCF-Texas)
Rice-SMU
LSU-Alabama
Houston-Tulsa

A two-loss USC in the Fiesta Bowl over Boise? :chair:

Boise is picked for the Poinsettia Bowl, which means they are predicting Boise to tank. Idaho is picked for the Humanitarian Bowl, which is the bowl for the WAC champion. So according to scout.com, Idaho will win the WAC while the two current unbeatens in WAC play, Nevada and Boise will get passed. Since Idaho has one conference loss, basically what it means is that they are guessing Idaho will beat Boise in two weeks and win out while Nevada loses at least once, probably to Boise. And if Nevada loses some other game, Idaho would win the tie breaker with Boise. If Nevada didn't lose another one, Idaho would somehow win some crazy three way tiebreaker.

to sum it all up: scout.com is stupid. :)

So, barring any flukes, it looks like the BCS Bowls will feature these teams:
ACC (1): Georgia Tech
BE (1): Cincinnatti (sp?)
B10 (2): Iowa/Penn State/Ohio State
B12 (1): Texas
P10 (1): Oregon (USC's a LONGshot)
SEC (2): 'Bama/UF/LSU
Two spots open: TCU and Boise (though USC could steal one of these)

One of these days the Cotton Bowl is gonna get back to where it belongs as a major bowl game that teams are excited to go to, rather than a consolatory bowl. It will emerge as a new BCS bowl sometime soon.

He raises, among many others, a REALLY good point:
Now, the BCS defenders will almost certainly say this: "The Boise State-Oregon game was in September." They are correct. Let's put aside the fact that on the very rare occasions when a BCS school plays a non-BCS power, it is almost always in September. Here's what the BCS defenders also say a lot: "What's great about the BCS is that the regular season is so meaningful."

It'd be kinda nice to see Oregon vs PSU.

Actually... teams I'd like to see PSU play in a bowl game:

Florida, Alabama, Texas (duh) Boise State, Oregon

People would say USC for the revenge factor, but if we win then it's because we played a weak USC team. Not much "pay back" if you ask me.

VaTech? Maybe. But it proves nothing if we win. But if they win then it's just doody for us.

I would however love to wax Notre Dame on national TV. But aside from the first five, there's nothing really interesting out there for me.

The key is, they want to keep the mid majors out. Why would the ACC want to give away their spot in a BCS game when they could be given that at large. It's not gonna change until the committee gets their heads out of their asses.

Okay, I'll try.

ACW STARTED this thread, like he has many others. The Title of this thread is, "College Football Week 10".

He doesn't state anything that contributes to the NCAA Football discussion, except the BCS garbage that he normally does. We ALL know it's garbage. Yet, he thinks he is on to something no one else has EVER seen before.

If you start a thread about COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK 10, shut the **** up about you having NO TEAM and rooting for the BCS to fail. We've heard it all before.

The discussion in a "COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK 10" thread shoulde be about just that....what's going on in college football.

His ramblings are not WEEK 10 OF THE 2009 COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON. They are years and years of bitching and moaning from people who don't have any clue about who to root for. Only, "this team" is getting the run around...and it doesn't matter which team it is...he will defend it.

Elessar78

I love it when people get all worked out about the National Championship in college football. Look the only thing in your control is how you schedule and winning your conference. It's pointless to argue about the BCS. It's a tired topic.

ACW, more games MAY mean more money but who gets that money is the bigger question. Let's say the SEC is as good as advertised and has 3 teams in a 4 team playoff. Do they get to keep 75% and the other conference gets the rest? Or do you divide the revenue to all 117 FBS teams? Wouldn't that be unfair to the SEC that's doing all the heavy lifting?

Plus, there's the fact that there are more weak teams in the FBS than the strong ones that go to bowl games. Guess what? All those weak teams get as much as the ones that actually go to the bowls (except the BCS, they pay out on tiered basis). Why wouldn't the weak schools vote for a system that guarantees them a pay day.

In 2006 the BigTen split 34.5 million eleven ways, but it also cost the conference 12 million to send seven teams to bowl games that year. So it ends up being only $2M/team after expenses. In a playoff, there's no guarantee that your team/conference will get to go. So you could be looking at zero instead of a nice cushy 2 mill.

This probably also touches on Brandon Spikes' half game suspension. The difference between a BCS bowl and the "consolation" bowl is just about, oh, $13 million. So the SEC has no incentive to make things right.

Need more touchdowns? Look to 'The U'

Miami Hurricanes alum Frank Gore of the San Francisco 49ers rushed for a touchdown in the first quarter of San Francisco's 18-14 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

No big deal? Typically no, except it was the 113th consecutive week in the NFL that a former Hurricane scored a touchdown. That is more than 6½ seasons without missing a weekend.

Pro-football-reference.com lists every touchdown scored since 1940, so unless a team such as Army or Notre Dame can claim a longer streak before World War II, 113 games is the longest such streak. Here are the top streaks of 40 games or more:

School / Start year, week to end year, week / Streak
Miami (Fla.) / 2002, Week 15 to present / 113 games
Ohio State / 1996, Week 10 to 2001, Week 6 / 82 games
Michigan / 1996, Week 14 to 2001, Week 1 / 73 games
Southern California / 1978, Week 2 to 1982, Week 3 / 66 games
LSU / 1986, Week 14 to 1989, Week 16 / 50 games
Notre Dame / 1994, Week 14 to 1997, Week 2 / 40 games

It doesn't really matter though I'm leaning towards watching that LSU alabama game. I'll be up bright and early to tailgate at Beaver Stadium tomorrow morning at 8 am. It's feels kinda nice though that both teams aren't coming into the game undefeated. For a fan, it's more relaxing and I think I can just enjoy the game, win or lose. Yeah, we have an outside shot at the BigTen title but even if we lose it's not that big a deal. We'll still go to a bowl game and we've already got a great recruiting class.

I hate to write off this season because in my eyes it's exceeded expectations, because I predicted a 2-3 loss season for this edition of the Nittany Lions. But I do wish we could get more work for QB-in-waiting Kevin Newsome. He's listed as similar in size to DC but he looks small out there.

I don't ever want to hear anyone defend officials and umpires, especially poor SEC officials. Urbie goes out there and tells it like it is and gets fined just like the rest of the damn SEC coaches. For what? Pointing out the truth? Your officials stink. Do something about it instead of ****ing fining coaches. And nothing makes me more irate than SEC trying to silence or penalize coaches for TELLING THE TRUTH. DON'T ACT LIKE YOUR OFFICIATING IS GOOD. IT'S NOT. IT'S HORRIBLE. IT'S THE ****ING WORST IN DIVISION I-A FOOTBALL

Oh man...this guy is irate.

http://www.abc15.com/content/uponfurtherreview/story/Coaches-fines-are-a-violation-of-freedom-of-speech/oDFkCrGyeUqYdl7Z0lYCJw.cspx

I've seen enough. It's time coaches on both the pro and college levels stand behind the right of freedom of speech.

Fining anyone for their opinion is a violation of the Constitution in my book.

Questioning officiating is a right. Since when are they immune to criticism.

The latest example comes with the $30,000 fine levied against Florida Head Coach Urban Meyer for telling reporters that the refs in the Georgia game missed a late hit on Quarterback Tim Tebow.

Even Georgia Head Coach Mark Reicht said it could have been a penalty. But that's not the point.

Where the heck does any conference or league get off on fining coaches for their public opinions. Who gave them the right to muzzle anyone.

Now listen. I'm not a constitutional lawyer. My knowledge of the Constitution and law is next to none. But penalizing coaches for speaking their mind about officials is simply IGNORANT. It suggets that officials are infallible. It suggests officials are perfect creatures who can do no wrong. The truth is officials are people too. And fining coaches for telling the truth about bad officials on the field is simply ludicrous. These coaches are speaking the truth, and they are being fined and punished for it. What kind of bull**** is this?

And that's why I posted an edited version of that rant on another forum because I was kind of cognizant about how freedom of speech was limited to government usage blah blah blah. It is still unjust

Fining seems to be frequent in leagues nowadays. The kids can't twitter or else they get a fine. The coaches are limited in their tweets or it's a recruiting violation. And I'm fine with those fines. But in the NBA and SEC, where coaches get fined for simply discussing the game itself, and not potential future recruits, that's not something that's fine-worthy. Back off on the fines. There's no need to fine coaches in the NBA or SEC for criticizing officiating. I've yet to see one person defend the fining of coaches. That's because no one agrees with that bull****.

All right, they're going to try to go for 2 here. They line up in the shotgun.

They're at the game or at work. Props to OSU for stepping it up. And people criticized Pryor and OSU all season, and misinformed ACW kept calling them Overrated State...but they sure showed up today, props.

UNC leading Duke.

OSU/Pryor fans can thank Minnesota for helping Pryor get his game back on track after being embarrassed by Purdue.

Riley Skinner is a fine QB.

Hopefully they don't try another 60 yarder like last week. Need to convert here.

From about the 35.

Skinner in a shotgun. Drops to pass looking SACKED.

THAT HURTS.

OMG!!! Was anyone just watching the Richmond vs Vilanova game on CSN?

Richmond just missed a field goal and some guy with a mic on just says, "Cmon, END THIS ****ING GAME!"

I don't mean somebody in the crowd, somebody in the truck or in the booth said it. That'll be on Deadspin by tomorrow. LOL!

Probably, they had a documentary on that Colts band on ESPN a few weeks ago

I don't know if itis' wise for GT to be going for it here. I'd kick the FG but I'm conservative.

So here we go. On 4th down.

May be a trick.

SEC Title rematch next month. Florida vs Alabama at the GA Dome.

FYI Greg Robinson, Michigan's D-Coordinator, needs to be fired now. He should not be allowed to leave the Big House with a job. Hold a press conference and fire him. No way in hell the old D-Coord, Ron English would of let Purdue come back and beat them in the Big House and they haven't won there since 1966. WTF 1966 , fire him now :chair:

Either way, they can't help who's in their conference. All teams like them and Boise can do is win, and win big.

Granted, I only saw part of the LSU-Ala game, but the part I saw looked like Ala should have won by 35 points, with about 800 yds rushing. I think Alabama was averaging over 10 yds/rush for the entire time I watched them.

(And I feel for LSU. The impression I got was that about half their team got knocked out of the game.)

But still, Alabama looked like a really good team. (Against a pretty good team.)
