View Full Version : Canadian Pharmacies - Anyone here use them?

I just found out that one of my meds which my doctor gave me a months free supply and has helped my angina is going to cost me over $200 a month (about 30 tabs). Canadian Pharmacies have the same drug listed as low as $65 for 100 tablets.
Does anyone here use a Canadian Pharmacy to order drugs? How can you tell which ones are legit? Can you recommend one?
Any advice would be appreciated.

This one is legit and will give you big savings on both Brand Name and Generic.
But don't be misled by the name "AmeriCana" because it is actually Canadian : the "Cana" in the name is short for Canadian, because they service both America and Canada.

Thanks. Their online meds search doesn't show what I'm looking for though. (Ranexa)
Research continues...
One big question is how do you go about providing prescriptions to them? I'm going to see my doctor tomorrow and it would be helpfull if I knew before hand.
Gotta run right now but I'll check the thread later if anyone is kind enough to provide some advice.
Thanks again.

I know it takes about 2 weeks to actually get the meds. If I remember correctly, the doctor has to mail in the prescription, which is what causes most of the delay. It's been a while since I used it, so I'm not positive, but you can call the toll-freee number and they can answer all that.

They also have great deals on medicinal marijuana.

I did use one - once. It did not turn out so well, quite a bit of delay and their version for my particular medication (for epilepsy) did not work very well.
Depending on your financial and insurance situation, you might qualify for free med's from the suppliers. The program is called Acess2wellness and you can try their website for more info.
One of my medications was $600 a month and I got six months for free. Then your status gets reviewed and if you still qualify you get another 6. The prescription process is handled by your physician (must be fax because it is traceable) but the medicine comes straight to you.
Basically, the manufacturers of the medication donate to this program so if you know the maker you should be able to find out if they are a donor.

Yes, I would try that first, before Canada.....it's called PAP's : Prescription Assistance Programs......some free.....some almost free....some get you like 25% discount....but most have financial need criteria like he said

I mean i get trying to save costs but aren't there certain areas where you want to make sure you get the real thing and don't want to take chances.
I assume prescriptions and medical are one of those things.

In America's "free market healthcare system", it's against the law for Americans to import cheap AMERICAN company drugs from Canada. It was one of the "improvements" GW passed in his 2006 healthcare reform bill.

Then why are so many AMERICAN doctors sending in prescriptions to these Canadian pharmacies for their patients. You think that many doctors would risk their medical license, doing something illegal, just to save money for their patients ?

So far, supporters of prescription drug importation have failed to clear the hurdles that block permanent, legal importation. On May 7, the Senate approved two importation provisions. Senator Byron Dorgan (D-North Dakota) sponsored a provision to allow pharmacies, groups of pharmacies, wholesalers and individuals to import prescription drugs from Canada and other countries whose regulatory requirements are similar to those in the United States. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Mississippi) sponsored a provision to require the HHS secretary to certify that imported prescription drugs are safe and would significantly reduce costs. Senator Cochran’s provision effectively nullifies Senator Dorgan’s provision, as similar certification requirements have done in the past. The administration opposes importation.

I'm just telling you the facts. It was common practice for Americans to cross the boarder into Canada and buy American drugs at half price. Bush as part of his healthcare "reform" with the strong support of the pharm industry outlawed that practice.
As of 2007, the Democrats had tried several times to repeal the Bush era law, but could not achieve the 60 votes needed to overturn procedural challenges to the vote.

The incorrect word here is "was." I can tell you from my experience with CBP that it still occurs.

I should have said it was common legal practice, now it's less common illegal practice which Bush expressly outlawed.
I don't think it's criminal, I think they just confiscate your drugs, if they catch you.

FWIW, I called the Canadian Pharmacy I originally referred him to, and they said that 98% of their customers are in the U.S., and they would not be doing it, if it's illegal. It's such a common thing, that I'm sure the U.S. government knows about it, yet they're not sending the Interpol after these businesses, and Customs aren't going after the packages.

Thanks to everyone for your input and advice.
I looked up PAPs and found the info I need right on the Ranexa website under CVT connect.

I'm going to call tomorrow morning. If that doesn't work though, I'm going back to checking out the Canadian Pharmacies. If the gubment doesn't like it they can come arrest me.
It's absolute bull **** that we pay the prices we do for drugs while everyone else gets them so much cheaper. We're just subsidizing the rest of the world's medicine.

If that CVT connect thing doesn't work out I'll give them a call.

Well, I certainly hope that, since you're in Ontario, Canada, that you would use a Canadian Pharmacy
If you were having Meds shipped from the U.S. to Canada, I'd be worried about you :)

You're welcome.....I know a little about drugs, from all my addictions to them :silly:

My wife has been using Blue Sky Drugs out of British Columbia, for her mother's prescriptions, for several years. She often comments on the significant savings ans on their excellent customer service.
