Go to DC Sports bog to see Riggo's comments. I give him maximum credit for not backing of one iota from his previous comments.

I went in to that article with the idea that I've had about enough of Riggo's media tirades. But after reading it, I was very, very impressed. He really hit the nail on the head, and goes into an area that is deeper than football.
If the multiple reports about Snyder are true, he has a very unhealthy sense of ENTITLEMENT that is only intesified by his surplus of financial resources and his sycophantic inner circle. He is NOT the type of person who I want to lead my football team.
You hear reports of Pittsburgh's owner being one of the most humble and unassuming people in his community. And his team is successful partly because of his humility, and his fan-base is the most loyal in the league. Sure, there may be more Cowboys fans nationwide, but outside of Texas natives who are just supporting their home team, the people are rooting for the Pukes due to daddy issues or some other psychological issue that makes them desperate for attention. They don't love the Cowboys as much as they just love the attention being a Cowboy fans brings them, even if that attention comes in the form of being laughed at. On the other hand, I believe that Steelers fans REALLY LOVE their team. And they should, because they have a franchise that does things the right way, and presents a product that they can be proud of.
Money does not have to corrupt one's morals if morals are something one cares about. And I question - after hearing all the reports that have been surrounding this circus over the past month - whether or not our owner CARES about morals or doing things the right way.
His desire to win is that of a 4-year old who throws tantrums when he loses, but is unwilling to put in the work it takes to BE a winner. Synder doesn't want to win for the fans or for the players or for the town... he wants to win because HE FEELS HE'S ENTITLED TO WIN. He is a 43 year-old spoiled brat. And when you back this team, you're indirectly backing everything that Snyder stands for. The Redskins don't require just loyalty any longer; they require BLIND loyalty. Which frankly makes us - the Redskins faithful - a bunch of fools.
Initially I thought Riggins was just being a blow-hard. But after reading his response, I have done a 180. Riggins is Right.

back to irrelevancy...and is it me or has Riggo always disliked Theisman and called him egotistical? He even talked smack about Theisman and the hogs running drills at Lake Braddock during the strike....that was way before Snyder so I ain't buying this bs angle he took again.

Good points all.
I also thought it was a good and accurate post. I'm proud to have Riggo in my corner as an ex-skin, warts and all.

Bob Kraft in NE is the same way. All accounts I've heard from Patsy fans who've interacted with him have been glowing - he's a down-to-earth guy who's also rich, not a spoiled brat. He expects the team to be the same (ahem Randy Moss).

I have heard that as well from a friend of mine who is a Pats also...he has a great counter for anyone who keeps saying, "Snyder is a fan who became an owner he's still a fan at heart.' To which he replies, "Okay yeah he's a fan at heart but so is Kraft because he was a season ticket holder for 20 years before he bought the Pats." (Was Dan ever a season ticket holder?)
Back on topic though....I agree with Bird 1972 as well about having Riggo in my corner.

“The Old Guard shall stand firm, and the Boy King shall be repulsed. I never really knew what it meant when they said they can't take the ring away. Now, I do.” – John Riggins
What an incredible statement by Riggo.
And thank you askounes for your earlier post.

You're not alone in that. Riggins says he now knows what it means to not have the ring taken away. At least I was fortunate enough to see three Redskins Super Bowl champions. The memories are all most of us Redskins fans have right now.

I have to say, I'm disappointed that Theismann sold out and blasted Riggins comments on Snyder's radio station. C'mon, Joe...don't do that. Grow a pair.

Sally Jenkins article today on Riggo:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/11/11/AR2009111126295.html
Interesting quote:
He (Riggins) contends he developed his opinion of the owner before his show was canceled, based on a handful of social meetings. "This is someone who thinks they're better than you," he says. "Why would you like someone like that? You wouldn't. I don't." He adds: "I don't owe anybody explanations. You ain't heard me tell any lies."

Well read. Now it's time to move on. Your comments and assessments probably just described at least 1/3 of all NFL owners. I still haven't lit my torch yet and I'm not volunteering to follow the lynch mob. I'll side with Joe for now and wait to see the after glow on the horizon when it's over.

I feel the same as well, I'm not taking sides because it just doesn't matter what I think about Snyder, Riggins and whoever else anoints themselves the voice of the fans.
