Today, former governor Eliot Spitzer will be at Harvard, speaking at the Edmond J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics, discussing (http://www.ethics.harvard.edu/news-and-events/lectures-and-events), "What Should Be the Rationale for Government Participation in the Market?" But given Spitzer's past, from Troopergate (http://gothamist.com/tags/troopergate) to Hookergate (http://gothamist.com/tags/hookergate), one person is very upset—a madam who had Spitzer as a client (http://gothamist.com/2008/10/23/spitzer_was_a_client_of_east_side_m.php). In a letter to Professor Lawrence Lessig, Kristin Davis wrote (http://www.manhattanmadam.com/kristins_blog/view/753/spitzer_s_harvard_hypocrisy), "For nearly 5 years, I supplied Mr. Spitzer with high priced escorts while he was both Attorney General and Governor. For this crime, I served four months on Rikers Island, had all of my assets confiscated and am now considered a sex offender on 5 years probation. Mr. Spitzer broke both state and federal laws and walked away free."

She also adds, "I am greatly intrigued as to what Mr. Spitzer could contribute to an ethical discussion when as Chief Executive Law Enforcement Officer of NY he broke numerous laws for which he has yet to be punished. As Attorney General he went around arresting and making examples out of the same escort agencies he was frequenting."Damn straight.
Obligatory prostitution between consenting adults should be legal anyway.

Selling is legal.
Screwing is legal.
How come selling screwing is illegal?

Go figure the political class protecting it's own. Laws are for the little people. And yes compensated sex between consenting adults should be legalized.

I predict that Marijuana and Prostitution will be legal by 2020 in most states. (assuming we get off of the "giving all our rights up to the Federal Government" trend before then. I think that once that trend is broken, we'll see a slew of personal liberty movements get all kinds of good things changed.

I don't know why we don't hold politicians to a higher standard then everyone else. Their crimes shouldn't be mitigated because they are supposed to serve the state... their crimes are much worse because they gave up their most important responsibility, to uphold the laws.

We've got a long way to go

200 years of history?

Come now. I think most would hold that politics is actually the worlds oldest profession (and most disgusting).

Obligatory prostitution?

So you want to make it legal to mandate/require prostitution?
