Travis has been doing some insane things lately, and this one looks pretty cool. World record jump in a rally car.

I wasn't that impressed by the jump, making the car do a back flip was much cooler. I also liked it when he jumped the arch de triumph in Vegas on his mx.

Travis Pastrana's dad was a bigtime boxer in Annapolis back in the day...my dad was one of the unlucky people who was scheduled to fight him...it ended in a split decision. My dad was pretty impressed with that considering that was his first fight ever.

you clearly dont understand the work and balls required to get a 3500 lb piece of metal to fly through the air.

When you have the money, which Pastrana does, then you can afford the technology, which he did. All you need to do is hire someone to make a few calculations then you know how steep the ramps need to be and how fast the car needs to go and wallah, a unimpressive stunt.
I will take his double back flip in moto x or the skate board big air on the mega ramp over this any day.

The jump was cool but I agree that he's done some other much more amazing things. His double backflip on the dirtbike is awesome.

So, he jumped a car from one ramp to another? It's not like he's the first to do that! It was reported down here that he jumped a car OVER a lake. Sorry, not even close. He jumped a car from ramp to ramp that was set-up in a lake.
I feel sorry for anyone who paid to witness it.

Yeah I think he only cleared 200 feet or something, it really wasn't a big deal.

To put it into perspective, Big Foot jumped 202 feet when they did the jump over the plane. Now that was impressive. Google 'Monster Truck jumps plane' and choose any number of videos.
200 feet in a Subaru is child's play.

Man as unimpressive as everyone makes it seem I would love to see of you hating this do it. I bet all of you wouldn't have the balls to try it.

You lose that bet if you were betting against me. Didn't get close to 200 feet, but I have jumped many a car in my younger days.

Well then buy some hooptie car, set up a ramp over a lake, videotape it and then put it on the internet so I can see it. :silly:
I'm just saying some people on here talk a lot of game.

I don't think anyones saying that, I think people are saying it compared to other stunts...

I would have paid to see that in a heartbeat.
Think about it. New Years Eve in Los Angeles, getting drunk out of your mind and seeing a guy jump a car over water.
Yeah, i'd pay to see it.

If clearing 200 feet wasn't a big deal i'm sure people would be doing this right and left.
Also let me just add as cool as I thought this stunt was yeah the other ones he's done have been more impressive.

When I raced trucks, one track had a jump, after a turn and at the finish line.
When all you see is sky, it's a ****ing rush. When you're doing it with other trucks slamming into, while 20 feet in the air, that's scary as ****.
Jumping anything is scary and takes balls. This isn't the most impressive thing in the world and Bigfoot jumping the Boeing was better, but don't take a thing away from him doing this.

Boysetfire, it really wasn't that impressive considering some of the other things that have been accomplished in extreme sports over the past couple years. Hell they have 50 gaps in snowboard parks across the country and amatuers, including myself clear them with ease.
Have you ever seen the skateboarding mega ramp?that's impressive, have you seen motox or Pastranas double back flip?
It was so planned all pastrana needed to do was hit a certain speed and he was golden. The target audience is the crowd that doesn't pay attention to extreme sports, if you haven't seen Pastranas other stunts/tricks sure you would be impressed, which is probably 90 percent of the people that saw it.

I get what you're saying dude but it still takes some kind of guts to take a car and jump 269 feet. Hell I would've paid to have been in the passenger seat to experience something like that. The rush must've been amazing.

i think this is the kinda bs that blockbuster movies has created. we see a city bus jump 50 ft on the highway in the movie so that leads us to think that a car jumping over 250ft is nothing in real life. amazing

Exactly, and half the haters in this thread sound like they would be completely unimpressed if it was they themselves that made the jump, like they would have walked out and been like, "meh...whatever....."

Its not that I didn't think it was cool, I have seen many more stunts in real life, not the movies, that I thought was way more impressive. I can post some video links for you later.

Even Pastrana was more excited about his double back flip, compare the reactions.

This is just my opinion, but here are a few things that I find more impressive.
Snowmobile backflip clearing 150 feet in distance.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R92jxJ_r9rE
Danny Way clearing the Great Wall of China on a skateboard
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEiAj4jt7fs
any jump on this ramp

Metzger Backflipping the Fountains in Vegas
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKLwxYz7oe8
and anyone crazy enough to surf giant waves.
BTW, tune into Winter X in a few weeks and see the first ever double back flip on a Snowmobile, should be pretty cool.
