I'm sorry, but the NBA All-Star Game is absolutely terrible. I turned to TNT and a rap show introducing the players at Cowboys Stadium raped me in the eyes & ears. I just tuned back in (almost an hour later) and Dirk Nowitzki appears to be on the court, talking to the crowd. The game still has not started. This is so awful that it is almost funny. :ols::ols::ols: This whole NBA All-Star debacle has been terrible for years, what would you guys rather watch or do? :D

FYI all All Star games suck except for Baseball's All Star game, and not because it decides home field in the Series. There is still a magical sense about that game. A great feeling about the game that is not present in any other all-star game. The atmosphere in those All-Star Baseball games is amazing

This is true for me as well. The thing I don't like about the baseball games is how you have to keep changing pitchers. But you can't leave the super studs in because that would be unfair to their respective teams. Quite a quandry.

i mean i think the thing about the NBA all star game is that basketball is generally easier to completely slack off and have a game ruined by people not caring
i mean im sure we've all been involved in pick up games towards the end of the day/night that just turn into shooting or dunk contests
ixcuincle
February-14th-2010, 08:41 PM
As I said in thoughts it's still a big deal about the AL and NL Starter...the games are competitive too and come down to the last few innings. It'll never be like it was back in the day when Pete Rose played those All Star games with passion but it's still a good show
Meanwhile all they do in NBA all star game is And 1 basketball, just dunks and trick shots and bs like that, no D at all

My favorite part of the night was Jerry Jones being interviewed while Mark Cuban stood silently behind him.
Imagine the conversation before that?
"Now, listen here, Marky. Good Ole Double-J is going to sell the soap. Watch and learn, son. And goddamnit, boy, didn't I tell ya to dress up tonight? A wrinkled Polo shirt is not dressin' up? The NBA all-star game is the only of any of the all-star games that actually retains some similarities to an actual game in that particular sport.
They don't hit in the Pro Bowl or NHL All-star games, when hitting is 1/2 of the reason people love those sports. The pitchers come out after 2 innings in baseball and you only get to see the best guys bat 2x at best.
Sure, the defense is a little lax in the NBA all-star game, but I'd much rather see Lebron go flying through the air unmolested than see him hacked and forced to earn it at the line.
Hating on the NBA all-star game is very tired.
But apparently there were 108k in Dallas last night that disagreed with the OP.

Please tell me you're joking. You must have never seen an NBA All-Star game if you think that. Baseball's All-Star game, by far, is the only all-star game that resembles a real game. In MLB's all-star game, you can have a 4-3 game. In the NBA's all-star game each team will score well into the 100's.

They might use a lot of pitchers but the game itself resembles a real game as opposed to basketball where guys are throwing balls off the backboard for spectacular dunks.

Someone needs to explain to me why these games need to be "real."
You know, I like the NBA, but I don't really want to watch a Spurs-Heat game with a final of 95-87 in the middle of February. And I certainly don't want to watch that in an All-Star Game.
The complaints about all star games seems to be that they are not as mediocre as regular season games - which no one here seems to watch anyway.

First off, the NBA All Star game is soo lame. That NBA dunk contest was about the worst televison I've ever watched. I actually kept watching, only to see just how bad it would get. And to Barkley and those guys' credit, they didn't try and make it out to be great, when it obviously was garbage.
Anyway, my advice to fix the contest would be to go against the "norm". By that, I think they should ONLY do dunks that have been done in the past. Bring back the windmill that D Wilkins did. The jump for the FT line, a la MJ. The blindfold dunk. The Dee Brown dunk. I mean, there are only so many dunks you can do over the years. Time to see what guys out there can do, compared to the greatest dunks/dunkers of all time.

Well as far as I know there are absolutely no rule differences between the nba all-star game and a regular nba game other than a longer halftime. Players may play differently but it's the same game. Baseball has inning limit rules and nfl has no blitzing rules.
