View Full Version : Trade Chris Cooley For Brandon Marshall

Chris Cooley is a great player, no doubt, but trading him for Brandon Marshall would make us a much better team. Tight Ends are only a semi-imporatant piece of the puzzle to win a superbowl, but a priemere wide reciever is an important part of the puzzle to get to the promised land. Everyone remembers the stellar year that Mcnabb had when he played with Terell Owens.
I kno people will complain and moan about the beloved Chris Cooley leaving the Redskins, but he is replacable! Fred Davis put up stellar numbers in his absence, and his athleticism makes him have much more upside then Cooley. Even if Cooley is ultimately better, Donovan was able to work with L.J Smith and make him a probowler and Fred Davis definetly isn't going to be bad in this league. Also 2 good tight ends are not better then a tight end+a top reciever. The redskins did fine with Cooley and and the average Yoder in the past and they can also do well with Fred and Yoder along with Brandon Marshall!!!
At the end of the day Tight ends are interchangable when it comes to considering who is in the top 5 based on fanboyism. Marshall is definetly a top 5 talent that the skins should nt pass on. If we dont do this year, we should just do it next year.

Cooley is a stand up guy and Marshall is a punk, also there is absolutely no way Denver would accept that

Are you even aware of the fact that they have Tony Scheffler and are trying to get rid of him?
The Bellicheat system, which Josh McDaniels runs, doesn't utilize a pass catching TE and uses one mainly as a blocker.

Redskins have too very good playmaking TE, why break that up?
And Cooley is coming off an injury which prob means his value is at its lowest.
Besides the fact hes the man! :)

You can't bring up trading Cooley on this board. ARE YOU CRAZY!! According to most Extremer's "tackles, shmackles"..."draft picks, shmaft picks"...all we need is Cooley stumblin' down the field to take us to the promise land...DONT YOU GET IT!! :ols: J/K...I love Cooley too!! and wouldn't take less then a 1st for him.
I actually would like to see what Marko and Kelly can do as big WR before looking elsewhere but thats just my opinion.

How big is Chris Cooleys wood? Cause yall are sucking him off real good. Goodness Gracious!!! Maybe the Broncos wouldnt want Chris Cooley, but if this trade was available we should pounce on this easily. All of you lame people who say I am a tard, troll etc need to wake up and smell the coffee. Chris Cooley is not the best tightend in the league, but the the way you guys are sucking him off, you would think he was. He is not irreplacable!!!

Also do you really want Marshall on the team? He's worse than Haynesworth!

honestly i think it is a great idea, people bash Marshall for his off the field attitude but he made LEAPS with his attitude from the beginning of last year to the end of last year. So why couldn't he improve even more with the right amount of money and the right coach (mike).

I agree that there is NO way Denver would make that trade...now if Cooley was a lock for 100 catches and 1000 yards then you might have a deal...but Cooley is a YAC receiving TE he finds ways to get open. If you think about how McNabb loved finding LJ Smith and more recently Brent Celek I think the McNabb to Cooley connection will be dangerous.
But I'd settle for McNabb deep to Moss or DT:fingersx:

Turd/Tard/Troll, I take it all as the same insult. If the so called ppl who called me a turd would just argue why we shouldn't trade him, I would gladly reply with a polite answer.

i think that if there is a way that we should definitely pursue it. especially with us having a solid defense we could use a DYNAMIC OFFENSE
Ashburn Dave
April-7th-2010, 07:39 PM
I would do this in a heartbeat even if Denver wouldn't.
Cooley is one of my favorite players and definitely my wives favorite but Marshall is a beast even if he has some off field issues. Maybe a change of scenery solves some of those issues.
Cooley is past his prime and we have a very capable replacement for him.

I don't think there is a name. It's a derivative of the west coast offense. Relies on the QB to read defenses and uses a 3-4wr set. Short throws, ect. TE isn't even in existence in this system.

This isn't about what a great guy Chris Cooley is......This is about what is the best for the Washington Redskins Organization. I would totally be against the trading of Chris Cooley, but lets not forget one thing here. Fred Davis is half man, half amazing. He makes better plays when giving the ball, has much more potential to be great, is 10x more athletic, and is younger. What Fred Davis has shown me last year is Fred Davis > Chris Cooley.

It had everything to do with your argument. Neither player fits Denver's system. Therefore this trade doesn't make any sense.
