Free-agent all-pro quarterback Jeff Garcia confirmed speculations Tuesday night that his agent has been in contact with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Garcia also mentioned that there is interest but no contract offering as of yet.

If Garcia, 40, ends up on the Eagles' roster, it will be the Gilroy native's third stint with the club (2006-07, 2009-10).

A report by the Philadelphia Daily News of Garcia's possible return to the Eagles surfaced last week after the Eagles departed with long-time starting quarterback Donovan McNabb, who was dealt to the Washington Redskins on April 4.

McNabb spent 11 season's in Philly.

Garcia, an 11-year vet, served as McNabb's back up during the 2006-07 season, taking over for the injured starter in November of that year, leading the Eagles to an NFC East title and a first-round playoff victory. Garcia threw 10 touchdowns to just two interceptions during a five-game winning streak to close out the regular season.

I have no idea why they let him go in the first place. Always seemed like a dumb move and they could've gotten a lot more than a second-rounder.

If the Eagles make an offer I'll believe it.

If Garcia is the only one confirming this, then I'll just think the 40yo is jockeying for a job.

Only way I see his happening is if they trade Vick before/during the draft. They'll most likely draft another QB in the draft to be the 3rd guy. Having Garcia as the #3 makes no sense and puts even more unnecessary pressure on Kolb.
