We are going to see Johnson behind Sellers pounding the ball like no other. We have lost many games to coming up short the past couple of years. The impact of these two may be the answer we have been looking for on short yardage situations. The possibilities can open up a ton of options. I see major improvement in this glaring issue. Just need to beef up the OL and we can be dangerous. PA, TE packages in jumbo. Potentially, absolutely ridiculous options available in short yardage situations.

Short yardage situations? spread the defense out by being unpredicatable on earlier downs so they know full well that a playaction pass could be coming on third and 1 and then run it down the gut.

Jumbo and heavy protection offense is a thing of the ancient and forgotten past.

It wouldn't have to be a thing of the past if we could get our hands on Toby Gerhart.

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

i think McNabb will be the reason we are finally successful at the goaline. He gives defenses a LOT more to worry about with his ability to find holes and extend plays.

Too bad we don't have Ladell Betts or T.J. Duckett anymore.

MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

There has been surprisingly little talk about Gerhart since the season ended. I wonder what round he'll end drafted in up on draft day. I also wouldn't be surprised to see us move around to get him. He looks exactly like Peyton Hillis and I know Shanahan really liked having Hillis in his offense.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again:

At best, Larry Johnson becomes the new Gerald Riggs. And thats pretty damn good.

Before McNabb was on the team I would agree with you 100%. Now I can see them spreading the defense out and running draws or even passing on short yardage plays.

I can't wait to see how this offense will look.

Portis called out Sellers on his blocking...so if he makes himself that force then great. But all the great running backs can make that first guy miss/run him over. So we shall see.

did you see the play that Portis was talking about? I'm not sure if Walter Payton could've gotten past the line of scrimmage.

Not saying he should be able to do it every single time...he came from singleback systems all the way through college...plus if we get enough push it doesn't matter who the fullback is if the D line is a half yard off the ball.

But yeah I'll give you that theres no way to get away everytime.

On the goal line?

I hope you were being sarcastic; I honestly can't tell.

Someone forgot the debacle against the Giants.

"Betts is as good as Portis in that situation" my ass.

I hope Bobby Turner can work with Sellers to get his blocking skills refined. He has the size and strength to do it but he needs to bring it all together.

I would hardly call any of our running backs monsters in any situation......

+1 I don't know if he wasn't focused last year or what because he's been a great blocker in past years for Stephen Davis and Portis, but he whiffed a lot.

I think Portis still is, in a situation where he is healthy. Having the other two backs to take the load off will help that cause.

I think people are too quick to write him off after one bad season. He was in the MVP discussion 2 years ago... then again, so was Jason, but CP's production has been consistent, for the most part.

who cares, all our vet rbs are bust, they cant carry the ball any farther than they can spit. shanahan needs to get his head out his ass and develop a legit RB, aka use alridge and cut these old farts

I think you see Shanny grad a young RB in the draft or after. The reason he has all three of these vets is to hedge his bet that one or two will respond and rise to the occasion.

that's true, itd be nice to see him get a young RB to sit and learn from these guys, but shanahan seems to like the bruisers, im worried that he will get a guy with no speed just power, which we have already 2 on our roster. i still say he needs to develop alrdige because i feel he will be one helluva RB.

One heluva RB, or one heluva RB in Shanny's system? Remember, this is the guy who can turn any RB into a 1000 yard guy. Tatum Bell?
