Involve the trade of C, Cooley or F. Davis? If we ridded one of them and AH, then we should be loaded on picks. What do you think?

If you think about it, how often are they both going to be on the field together. In that case, Shanny may only want one, and get max value for the other since we have very little picks and many needs.

Why?
Exhibit A: poorly titled original headline
Exhibit B: lack of original idea that has been rehashed several times over
Exhibit C: could easily have been a post in one of the multitude of draft threads already in existence
Verdict?

Well if u ACTUALLY think about it, injuries happen every year. Depth is a must and having 2 starters at a position is a good thing, not worth giving up one of them for a 2nd or 3rd. I would rather have a proven player over a draft pick that you don't know how will turn out. Besides they are both young, makes no sence to me

Why?
Couple of reasons, but let's try to be helpful here. 1) Your thread title. Be specific. Teasers aren't. 2) Your follow up. Need to try to be more specific and detailed in your OP on why you think this may be a possibility and what specifically you think the Redskins could get for either of the players. That's for starters. FYI for the future. Now back to your regularly scheduled draft day guessing game thread.

It is a luxury to have both. No if ands about it. We won't be running 2 TE so often as we could use more depth. Depends if what is max value. Their offense or their value.

Technically, it could be anything. I doubt it has to do with Cooley or Davis, it's probably more along the lines of a player that we are having problems with or don't need (McIntosh, Haynesworth, Carter, or Campbell).

Shanny has always loved have to good TE. I don't think either are going anywhere.
And McNabb has made a living out of throwing underneath to his TE's and backs, especially when Philly had real weak WR's.
I bet he's licking his chops now, and dreaming of double TE's sets, with 2 wideouts and a single back!!!!!!!

Let's continue with the philosophy of our new FO. Get rid of the dead weight and add quality. I say we keep quality - and that would include Cooley and Davis.

I've heard it too and I hope we keep him and Davis. Two TE sets would be nice with both of them and keep D guessing pass or run.

Funny I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine who's a huge Bengal fan, and he wants Greisham, I told him I would trade Cooley to either the Bengals, or the Pats for their 1st, we can't afford to keep 2 players at the same position that are that good, and I think Davis is going to be a monster.

I thought that Cooley could be trade bait, but I have not heard one reliable source mention his name. I would not be crushed by seeing Cooley go. He has been a great Skin, but if by moving him, it will help rebuild this team, so be it.

Cooley has been one tough Redskin for several years. Davis played a few good weeks. Davis can go if someone wants to pay enough, but COOLEY MUST STAY.

April-22nd-2010, 08:10 PM
sigh, this has been talked about before, but if you can a good deal for cooley, then i feel you have to pull the trigger... two pass catching tight ends is a luxery, it really is. with all the needs on this team, it wouldnt make sense not too. But i dont know, not many players have been as beloved as cooley has by fans...

McNabb throws the majority of his completions to TEs. Not gonna happen at all!

April-22nd-2010, 09:34 PM
The Redskins shouldn't trade either Cooley or Davis away just because they happen to have depth at one positions(TE). Anybody remember Sean Gilbert? He was kind of Stubblefield and Haynesworth's GreatGrandFather(or something like that) ...anyway the redskins got two FIRST ROUND DRAFT picks for him from the Panthers I believe. My point is a DT like Haynesworth is worth a lot more than a 2nd round pick and the Redskins should get nothing less than at least one 1st round pick for him. I'd rather the Redskins have a disgruntled Haynesworth on the field than a 2nd round pick. Who are they going to get in the 2nd round worth Haynesworth?

Maybe the reason McNabb never won a Super Bowl in Philly is because Andy Reid didn't believe in the running game...at all...

We aren't trading cooley. He sells waaaay to many jersey's in DC and Shanahan LOVES his tight ends. Would NEVER happen. There is no BIG suprise.

Nah, we'll use both as playmakers, especially if we don't pick up a big name receiver.

It's been said on here multiple times in the past that the Pats' system really has no use for a pass-catching TE, and especially not an elite one.

Can you imagine the uproar if we traded Cooley?? No way Shanahan makes a stupid move like that. We are keeping both of them.
Painkiller
April-23rd-2010, 12:55 AM
maybe next year, after ShanAllen have a year to evaluate. I think at this point you keep both to see how things work out. Find out through the course of the season which one is better suited for the new Redskins, and then you make a trade for a position of need that may emerge.

Would have been best had you just stuck to the thread topic. We had this discussion earlier on in this thread,(you know. With its old thread title),and it's long since been taken care of. Also,we encourage the membership to look after things themselves. The message isn't always delivered in the best way,but it's often times delivered none the less. Follow the rules. And that ends any more comments about that whole subject.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Appears like the rumor mill mentioned a couple times in this thread,(which is why it's still open),was wrong. Again.

Ok my bad, but yeaaa... I do think one of the TE's will be traded. i just don;t see the need to have both when this team has so many other needs right now. I would really hate to see either of them go. They're both such good players.

I'll be crushed if Cooley goes. He is the quintessential Redskin. I don't see it happening, at least not this season. IMHO there is no realistic trade deal worthy of him.

April-23rd-2010, 09:11 AM
Rather have Haynesworth and Cooley over some "shot in the dark" rookies.
Why is Cooley considered tradable around here? He's THE best offensive weapon we have and now we actually have a QB that is going to find him?
McNabb to Cooley is going to be INSANE.
