Edit: Sorry but redskinsplayers.com is already taken - this is why I wanted to go with redskinsplayers.info and forgot to delete .com off my list. If you have voted for redskinsplayers.com I can add the current total to either .info or can add it to redskinsplayersdb.com. Since looks like most of you like the .com extension. Sorry for the mix up there.
When Mark The Homer did a thread on ES History (http://extremeskins.com/showthread.php?t=316471) while back he also told the history of the players database. And after the merger in 2005 the database was no longer part of ES.
Someone guy registered a domain called redskinsdb.com (http://www.redskinsdb.com) and had the same db that ES original owners had developed but never bothered to update it. Even to this day.
Its the same because he stole the script from ES.
He doesn't answer e-mails because he's no longer maintaining that site. No updates since 04 should tell you that. Could be interesting to know when his domain is up though & then watch & see what happens to the site.
Earlier this year the domain was expiring and I was going to take it but apparently the guy re-registered for another year. And again for no apparent reasons as it is still not updated.
Oddly, in 2006, this site popped up out of nowhere:
http://www.redskinsdb.com/player.asp
It has the same data, same look, same functions, same everything. The webmaster doesn't answer emails. And the data available spans from 1932 to 2004, then abrubtly stops with no updates. Ever.
I started thinking after reading what MTH said about the db. I asked in the History thread if someone could put the data in a spreadsheet I could dump it into a db and design a front end for it and put it up on a webiste and that is when MassSkinsFan volunteered to gather the data. I downloaded redskinsdb website - good thing I did as his site goes down a lot. Which MSF got really irritated about as he was using that website to update his spreadsheet with and so I ended up emailing him the whole website that I downloaded. :)
I would like to thank MassSkinsFan for all the time and effort he has put in getting the db to be current as of 2009. :notworthy:notworthy:notworthy
Now on to my question about the poll:
I have come up with some domain names and would like your input as to which one is easier to remember and at the same time sounds cool.
If you don't like any of the ones I came up with and you have a suggestion that stands out then we can consider that as well. :)
Note: My goal is to have this done before the season starts.
HTTR!
