http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20396495,00.html

The unidentified woman, who has been a masseuse for 12 years, filed the accusations Jan. 8, 2009, alleging Gore, who checked into the hotel as Mr. Stone and was 30 minutes late for his 10:30 p.m. in-room appointment, sexually assaulted her in his hotel room by forcing repeated, unwanted sexual touches.

"He pleaded, groped me, grabbed me, engulfed me in embrace, tongue kissed me, massaged me, grabbed my breasts," the woman says in her detailed complaint (http://www.kptv.com/download/2010/0623/24012172.pdf) to Portland police officers and posted by the Fox 12 Oregon (http://www.kptv.com/index.html) TV station.

At one point, she says Gore pinned her down, resulting in an injury to her left leg and knee, and which required medical care for several months.

Sorry to hear that. Just three questions remain:

1. Who did he get caught cheating with?

2. Was it a male or female?

3. How long until the details are released?

She reported this 4 years ago? That, to me, makes me suspect more along the lines of "not enough evidence".

How dumb is Gore? Don't answer that.

If you are going to hire a masseuse who is willing to come to your hotel room at 10.30 at night, I would have thought the same section of the newspaper would have included ads from "masseuses" who price in a little 'contact' into their service.

Disagree.

I think it makes her sound like more of a nutjob who made an allegation, recanted, then realleged years later specifically to get money and her 15 minutes, even though she knew any proof would be long gone.

Possibly resurfaced now BECAUSE she knows any proof is long gone and now it can only be his word against hers.

BS

At the time of the initial allegation, they said not enough evidence. She has shown no intention to prosecute, only to make claims in the media in the hopes of getting a payday. How could there possibly be enough evidence now? Do you have a link to the quote from the Oregon DA?

Also, Gore's spokespeople vehemently denied when the initial allegation was made back in 2006. They didn't comment now, other than to confirm that the Enquirer didn't contact them to even seek a comment before publishing the story

Rape and sexual assault are my areas of expertise, both personally and professionally. I know the research and I know the outcomes. I also know not to use a semicolon to separate two independent clauses that are being conjoined with a conjunction. ;)

But in all seriousness, thinking in absolutes is, ironically, ALWAYS wrong. I just will side with the person claiming it until otherwise given my experience and the research.

This is absolutely correct. :pfft:

I'm also inclined to side with the accuser, given the very low rate of false accusations and the number of barriers and challenges associated with even reporting rape or sexual assault in the first place.

Still, it's extremely unwise to jump to conclusions until the story is largely known (if ever).

I know lots of cases where witnesses and prosecutors have lied to convict an innocent person. In fact it has become a common problem in major cities as a way to exact revenge on an ex, or even a pesky neighbor.

The Oregon masseuse claiming Al Gore made unwanted sexual advances towards her wanted big bucks for her big story.

The red-headed, 54-year-old massage therapist asked the National Enquirer’s executive editor for $1 million, according to the Washington Post.

If this woman is only interested in justice, why then did she NOT press charges? Why did she try to sell her story and how come no one is buying?

This is a load of **** and some people are saying they side with her? Makes my head hurt.

Well here's an interesting tidbit. The Examiner has a detailed summary of her claims (and a headline concluding the claims are "credible". Ahhh, the media).

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/Sex-complaint-against-Gore-is-detailed_-credible-97329474.html

Among other things, the article says:

"The accuser said Gore maneuvered her into the bedroom. His iPod docking station was there, he told her, and he wanted her to listen to "Dear Mr. President," a lachrymose attack on George W. Bush by the singer Pink.

"As soon as he had it playing, he turned to me and immediately flipped me flat on my back and threw his whole body face down over atop of me," she said. "I was just shocked at his craziness."

Now, ignoring for the moment the sensational idea of him trying to rape her while playing an anti-Bush song, it's also interesting that the song in question wasn't released until December 2006, two months after the alleged attack. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dear_Mr._President

Credible indeed

Two More Massage Therapists Accuse Al Gore of Sexual Assault (http://www.businessinsider.com/two-more-women-accuse-al-gore-of-assault-2010-7)

Former Vice President Al Gore has been hit by new allegations of sexual assault. This time, it's two more massage therapists bringing the charges.

The former VP is already in hot water, fighting abuse claims in Portland, where another masseuse said Gore groped her in '06 and asked her to perform a "chakra release" (massage-speak for "hand job".) He denies everything.

The new allegations are said to have taken place at two hotels - one in Beverly Hills in 2007, when Gore was in Hollywood for the Oscars, the other in Tokyo in 2008.

A source from the luxury hotel in Beverly Hills told The Enquirer: "The therapist claimed that when they were alone, Gore shrugged off a towel and stood naked in front of her." He then propositioned her for a sexual act, according to The Enquirer.

Still sounds fishy to me, This lady never presses charges and tries to sell her story for one million bucks, THEN a couple other gals come forward? Propositioned? Not hardly a crime... Well see though. I, having never been anywhere near Al Gore, don't know the particulars of his personal habits. Who knows... maybe he's a perv?

Gotta say, it looks grim for Gore. That first story seemed bogus, but two more accusations...

Maybe he learned more from his time with Bill Clinton than I thought. :pfft:

Portland paper continues to justify not running story:

(NEWSER) – That infamous stain on the pants of Al Gore’s masseuse is not semen. That’s the biggest revelation to come out of a Portland Tribune article written by former managing editor Todd Murphy, which once again explains why the paper didn’t run the Al Gore sexual assault story back in 2007, and attempts to correct public perception of the Tribune as “the newspaper that passed on a boffo story in its own backyard.”

Talking Points Memo breaks down the nearly 3,600-word article to find other new tidbits about Molly Hagerty’s allegations: She admitted failing a lie detector test. Some acquaintances questioned her credibility. Phone records confirm the call to a friend she claims she made after the Gore incident, and another call to a sexual assault hotline. And this isn’t the first time she’s been involved in a legal drama: In 1998 she sought, but was denied, a restraining order against a former boyfriend.
