Billick seems to think the Mcnabb and Shanahan will have the better season. He likes Mcnabbs mobility with Shanahan's roll out scheme's. Say's some growing pains for Kolb's first year.

Post a highlight from the article please. For all we know, he could have been referring to who the blacker quarterback is.

Surprisingly, that was the question. I thought for sure Kolb would win that one.

Asks who will have a better season next year, McNabb or Kolb. Billick said that it's McNabb because Shanahan has a system designed for him and will move him around the pocket more now because the system, and not because he has to. Also, this will be the first year Andy Reid has not had McNabb, so for Kolb when they hit a road block, it's gonna be more about how he handles it off the field than how he handles it on the field. Billick also said that McNabb is energized again working with Shanahan and it will be very interesting to see what happens.

I guess Billick didn't get the memo from the other NFL "experts" that McNabb is old and washed up and the unproven Kolb is the real deal.

yeh, that's a good question, you thought Kolb would win may becasuse you thought it's McNabb's first year at skins, as alot guys was. but i don't think so, MaNabb is a veteran, he knows how to control the game and win.

It's a great point by Billick, McNabb is still a mobile QB although nothing like he used to be and with Shanny liking to have the QB roll out and move the pocket around, then it will be a match made in heaven for us alows us to have a top 10 QB and a Superbowl winning coach for at least 3 very good years

Seriously. Kolb has started two games, one of which was a blowout loss where he threw 3 picks. Somehow a number of analysts have deduced from this that he's just as good or better than McNabb, and the Eagles won't miss a beat.
Apparently Kolb's 0TD, 4INT, 21.8 QBR 2008 season has been forgotten because of his magical 2 games :ols: last year. It's mind boggling.

It's a no brainer to chose McNabb over Kolb in this discussion because you really don't know what Kolb is going to bring to the table. It'll be his first he's controlled the offense for a full season.
Kolb could very well end up like Aaron Rogers, or he could very flame out like Brian Brohm. We'll know soon enough.

McNabb may have a better year than Kolb but that still doesn't mean it wasn't a good decision for Philly to trade him.

Well, not to rain on everyone's parade, but isn't it possible that McNabb still has some years left AND Kolb is a promising young QB? It's not to say that there won't be ANY drop-off from McNabb to Kolb in Philly, but it's very possible that he'll play just fine, if not pretty well.
He's had a small sample size for sure, but why wouldn't people put more stock in his 2009 numbers than his 2008 numbers? Isn't it a good sign that he apparently improved from 2008 to 2009? Isn't it possible that it means he might even improve from 2009 to 2010.
I just don't see this as a black-and-white issue where only one team made the right decision in this trade. The Eagles gained some picks AND were able to turn the reins over to their QB-of-the-future. There's no guarantee he'll be better than McNabb, but they had to do this eventually. The Redskins upgraded their QB position significantly and hopefully get 3-4 years of good play from McNabb.

Ya, he was the biggest McNabb jock sniffer until they traded him; he's a homer. It's cool though because I'm a homer, too. I used to call McNabb McChoke, McSeeYouNextYear, McPuke, McEmptyTrophyCase, McChunky, McLoser, McLardass, McRingless, McOverrated, McToast, etc., until the day I turned on ESPN and saw that he was now a member of the Redskins. Now I think he's a borderline Hall of Famer; homer glasses are awesome. The only difference is that I don't get paid by ESPN to say that my homerism is neutral, enlightened, and factual.

I don't have a problem with Philly's decision to trade. It very well may prove to be a good idea if Kolb isn't a bust (like everyone said he was before last year).
What I have a problem with is the lovefest for Kevin Kolb by some analysts and Philly fans, when so far his play has been been so-so at best. Seems like everyone still has the Kolb-led Eagles ahead of us in the division, even though they gave us the guy who's made them contenders for the last decade.

I would contend that it's very simplistic to attribute the decade of success under Reid in Philadelphia all to McNabb.
As Kolb showed (for the most part) last year, they were able to play well on offense without McNabb. Not to mention that Jeff Garcia also took over for McNabb and led Philly on a Todd Collins-like run to the playoffs.
So, though I'm thrilled to have McNabb, Kolb is taking over in a very, very favorable situation for him. He might bust, I have no clue, but he could come in and play just fine. The actual point is that even if the Eagles regress and we improve, it might STILL mean that they finish ahead of us.

Well, sure it's simplistic. IMO it's also simplistic for them to think nothing will change when the most important position on the field has switched from a potential HOFer, to an unknown. Seems like those guys will do anything they can to rank Philly, Dallas, and NY ahead of us.
Now, I'm outta here before you remind me that Philly, Dallas, and NY always do end up ahead of us :ols:

never thought I'd see the day McNabb is the QB in DC ... but gotta admit, he looks damn sharpe in the B&G. So ef'n pumped for this season to start. I still think that Devin Thomas is going to breakout this year, and am not gonna sleep on that guy. But that is neither here nor there. Carry on.
Oh ... I think Billick is spot on

Well, again, no one is contending (that I've heard) that Philly will be just as good as last year. They finished with 11 wins and were tied (record-wise) with the Cowboys for first place in the East (finishing second due to tie-breakers). So, isn't it possible for them to regress by a couple wins and still finish ahead of us if we improve by a couple wins?
Now, I'm outta here before you remind me that Philly, Dallas, and NY always do end up ahead of us :ols:

Well, I don't intend to use that logic since it's pretty useless. I think that we have a shot to do some good things this year, I just don't fault those who aren't expecting it.

Could be wrong, but I think the answer is pretty simple: there's no way McNabb would sign an extension with Oakland or Buffalo (the rumored other suitors) so they weren't interested. Washington was the only team left and Philly had to trade McNabb -- his deal was almost up and they weren't going to extend him because of Kolb.

Well, Philly has made a lot of 'great' decisions over the years according to the 'experts' but the trophy case is still empty :D
