This stems from the sexy cars thread. In your opinion, what decade, did in fact produce the nicest looking cars ever.

Feel free to give examples and explanations are always encouraged.

Everything was awesome in the 70's, so I'm gonna go with that decade.

Kind of a toss up between the 60's and 70's. The best looking cars, I think, were made between 65 and 74, which kind of splits the decades for me.

Tough call between the 60's and 70's. Gonna give it to the 60's by a hair. 80's just cannot compete, nothing special about the 90's and the 2000's....any decade the Honda element is released in cannot win. Really though safety regulations regarding drag etc. and cost concerns have limited the 2000's in comparison to earlier decades IMO.

Torn on this one again, just like the other days. I really want to go with the 80s even though I know it's just not right (the 60s are the clear choice to me) because I'm a fan of European cars. If you like American cars, yeah, you pretty much want to wipe that entire decade from the memory banks but Europe was making a ton of cool **** at that time. All the Group B rally cars and their production couterparts (Renault 5 Turbos, Lancia HF Integrale, Audi UR Quattro, ect), the original and best M3 (loved that generation 5 series and 6 series, too), the Benz 190E 2.5 Cosworth. But it's got to go to the 60s by far. Worldwide all the manufacturers were turning out things of beauty.

I can't believe anyone can not say the 60's, I mean come on, 1969 Mach 1 Mustang, the greatest car of all time, hands down.

for all intents and purposes... 69 = 70s for me.

that is a 70s car

(just like Led Zepplin is a 70s band, even though Zep 1 came out in 69, and the cure is a 80s band, even though boyd don't cry came out in 78 (i think) etc...)

The A body GM cars make this one hard (Chevelles, Cutlass, Skylarks, GTOs) since the 70 were alot different looking than the 69. And you can't forget the 70 Cuda and Challenger.

bbbuut, I'm going with the 60s

man you gotta argue with everything i say don't you;)

but alas, the only examples you can give me are bands, which do not equal cars unfortunately. the 69 body style is more closely related to its predecessors from 64.5 - 68 than those in the 70's. if you ask any person who knows anything about cars and ask them what decade the mustang is you will get a unanimous 60's, which i believe is the closest we can come to comparing them to your band argument (which again, are bands not cars)

Oh it definitely is, I helped my dad rebuild a 68 Mustang when I was 12/13 years old, and by helped I mean handed him tools and watched.

Sorry, next time I'll multiquote when I respond to three people. There's just nothing to compare to it. I mean if you just go off looks alone this one takes the cake, and that doesn't even go into the power behind the wheel........hold on I need to go watch Home Improvement to get my grunt down.

Just goofy. Any car released in 1969 would have been in developement for 2-3 years easily. Here's a 73 Mustang...very 70's.

http://image.automotive.com/f/images/10918509+pheader/mump_0809_01_z+1973_mustang_grande_hardtop+front_v iew.jpg

Also Zep 1 came out Jan 69. Zep 2 dropped in October 69. Zep is not a "70s" band. Styx is a "70s" band and their music reflects that....It's cheesy, just like the 73 Mustang!

Here's a vote for the 1950s. I especially thought the 1957 Chevys were cool.
