The Miami Dolphins have picked up a veteran offensive lineman.

Guard Randy Thomas has signed with the team and was at practice today (http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/thedailydolphin/2010/08/18/miami-dolphins-beef-up-offensive-line-sign-12-year-veteran-randy-thomas/), giving the Dolphins some added depth with Nate Garner (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4951) and John Jerry (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=5881) both battling injuries.

In 1999, Dolphins boss Bill Parcells, who was then the coach of the Jets, picked Thomas in the second round of the NFL draft. Thomas has started 143 games in 11 seasons since then, including two games last year with the Redskins. Thomas's 2009 season was cut short when he suffered a torn triceps in September.

The Dolphins waived receiver Ryan Grice-Mullen (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=5696) to make space on the roster for Thomas.

Really????? I didn't even know Thomas was still playing football!

Good luck to Randy and I hope he can stay healthy, but I think he's just a back up player at this point in his career.

Hicks is starting to play well, to be honest when williams was lost for the season due to that clot situation I wanted thomas resigned wasn't sure if he was healthy.

Heck yeah, great to see him catch on in the NFL again. To be honest, I thought he wouldn't play again.

And wow, I thought Davone Bess and Ryan Grice-Mullen were the next Moss and Carter, Holt and Bruce, Moss and Welker?? Or at least that's what I was told. ;)

Glad Randy found a landing place. I understood and even agreed with the need to let him go, but he was always a great player and good Redskin. A really easy guy to root for.

Why didn't we take a look at him?

Probably the injury concern, but yeah i wouldnt have minded having him in here as a veteran for depth, but dude was ALWAYS hurt

He'll be a quality backup, one that if need be can start if/when their starter goes down. Hope he's healthy.

I'm surprised he didn't retire, but if he's healthy and the team has interest, I can't blame him for wanting a paycheck. He was a warrior here, and I hope he can stay healthy.

his contract for 2010 outweighed the expected production.

same reason why Shanahan released Griffin and ARE.

these guys can still play a role but closer to the veteran minimum rather than the multi-million salaries they were set to be paid here.

Dolphins released OG Randy Thomas.
The Fins gave Thomas a one-week look, and he showed he doesn't have anything left in the tank. The former longtime Redskin's career may be over.

I would love to see him sign a one day contract and retire a Redskin.
