As football season draws near, NFL fans pick the Indianapolis Colts and the Dallas Cowboys as the teams most likely to win Super Bowl XLV.
Twelve percent (12%) of NFL fans pick each of those teams to win. The only other team to reach double digits is the defending Super Bowl Champions, the New Orleans Saints.
Eight percent (8%) think the winner will be the Minnesota Vikings, 6% say the New England Patriots, and 6% the Green Bay Packers.
The national survey of 3,175 Football Fans was conducted on August 14-15, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 2 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC.
In terms of who fans want to win it all, the Dallas Cowboys are the only team in double digits. Twelve percent (12%) want to see the Cowboys bring home another Vince Lombardi trophy. Nine percent (9%) are pulling for the Saints and 8% each for the Colts and Vikings.
Heading into Super Sunday last year, most football fans were rooting for the Saints but predicting a Colts victory.
A year ago at this time, the Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers were the top picks to go all the way. The Saints, who managed to win it all, were an afterthought, and the Colts were number five.
