http://www.recover-from-grief.com/7-stages-of-grief.html

I don't want to trivialize the plight of those who are enduring through -- or have suffered from -- grief due to personal loss, but this latest Redskins flop is absolutely overwhelming. It's really almost silly to think that a sports team can have this much of an effect on one's psyche, but, lo and behold, such is unfortunately the case.

As for the Lions game, not that I didn't see this one somewhat coming -- heck, nearly anything doesn't surprise me about this team anymore, but this is almost too much to take, especially the benching of McNabb.

Right now, I'm still stuck on the first step of the seven step process set forth in the link. Yes, still shocked and in denial. Thank God we've got a bye week so I don't have to watch this garbage the next coming Sunday and so I can get over this nonsense when the Redskins play on MNF.

Hopefully, they won't make fools of themselves then.

I went through #s 1 to 5 yesterday within about 10 minutes and landed firmly back at 1, where I remain.

Is acceptance a stage? We are 4-4. After what we endured the past two seasons with zorn, at least we have been in the games this year...I actually go into every game thinking the skins can win.

The one where you haven't been sold on any aspect of the team for the entire year so far so you're not shocked. And the one that you know that this team always plays tough teams well and plays mediocre to poor teams poorly. It shouldn't surprise anyone.

After a skins loss I go 1-5 then about the friday before the next game its goes to 6, then after another loss it goes back to 1. So basically I never recover.

I'm with Maximus 71 on this one.

I was pissed yesterday but not I've calmed a nerve and realized that we still have another game to play in two weeks.

I'm in the OVER IT; now, let's get the players healthy - we have the feagles in two weeks.

Get back to ignoring the media - supporting the Coaches and Team - ALL will be forgiven when we beat the feagles. :D

I am on the "We are a 4-4 team who is lucky to be at .500" stage. I am enjoying the games this year.

I am on the "We are a 4-4 team who is lucky to be at .500" stage. I am enjoying the games this year.

I'm with Homercles. I think the Skins have played sub.500 ball, but have had some good fortune/defense to be at .500. I'm just here to watch and laugh now, with no expectation that this team is going to do anything great.

The games are a lot more enjoyable this year because I end up laughing a lot at how ridiculous the offense is, being thrilled by Brandon Banks, and enjoying watching the defense fly around.

I jumped from stage #3 to stage #7 sometime shortly after yesterday's game. Screw all those other stages lol...

Some where between 3 and 4. I'm glad we are a .500 team this year but nothing guarantees we won't go 4-12 again, which at this point isn't impossible (this is awkward wording.. I'm not saying we are so bad that we will lose 12 games again, its just the current 4 wins... Blah, not sure how to say it.)

4-4
1.5 games back from the division
0.5 games back from a wildcard

Classic PTSD. The low points keep popping up. The pick into triple coverage. The questionable off side on 4th down. The block in the back on the kick return. The noncall PI on the bomb. Bringing Grossman in, then explaining it by pointing to his two minute offense skills. Shock.

I've been on stage 7 all season long. I had little expectations going into the season.

I got over it the second the game ended. I actually laughed during the TO -> TD with 2 mins left.

Zorn-Cerato did one thing for me that I appreciate so much. I learned to let go a lot during that 4-12 season. Don't get me wrong, I love the Skins. I read about them for 2-3 hours a day. On game day I go to the bar and get nervous every week before the kickoff. I scream like hell at the TV.

But once the game is over. I turn it off. I don't get angry and I don't get mad. I go back home, kiss my GF and enjoy the rest of my Sunday. I don't let the Skins dictate my moods anymore, like they did since I was about 8.

I can't thank Zorn enough. It is much more healthy.

I knew last week that we were going to loose, so my grieving process started earlier, I am over it now.

Resignation (is that a stage?)

A little like looking at the horrible disease that brought about death, in an oddly detached and almost disinterested sort of manner.

I'm over it. I just want to see roster changes this week. No more old bums and bring up some young guns.

i was in stage one: denial, for a week before the game. i just knew that there was no way our interior line was going to be able to hold up against one of the best (if not the best) dl's in the league. this quickly turned to shock when i watched the game. rabach, hicks, and lich.., got lit up way worse than i thought they would.

i dont really feel that bad though, i think the lions are underrated, though they did keep us in the game for a while. once the lions get their confidence level up each week, they will be a dangerous team.

Detroit has played teams hard this season. Anyone just expecting a win should fully experience all of those and I don't feel one bit bad for you... ;)

I thought the team would be 8-8 or 9-7. Still sounds about right to me.

I had no stages this time, it was weird. When Grossman fumbled, my jaw just hit the floor and I said "wow" over and over and over. I was like, stuck. Utter disbelief.

At this point, the Redskins losing is just the norm, you know?

When we win, it's a treat; like someone taking you out for ice cream or something. When we lose, it's just how it is, you know?

The nonchalant stage. If we win more than we lose in the next 8, great. If not, I won't even stress anymore, I'll just have fun talking about the offseason like we've been doing the past 10+ years around here.

Considering I didn't expect the Skins to win, I'd say I'm at acceptance. In fact, I don't think I've been shocked at a loss since '08.

I get angry at stupid **** during the game...and frustrated at bad plays, but after the game I'm more just in the acceptance stage. I don't really epxpect the Skins to really win any games, so I'm super happy when we do. Take it as normal when we lose. This year, I'm way more concerned with watching how the team plays and improves from last year than expecting us to get to the playoffs. Obviously I'd be ecstatic if we made it, but I set really low expectations for this season, and I just wanna see this team play better.

I don't go through any stages of grief. I always take the high road and go NEXT. :)
