Everytime we lose to a crap team (my definition of crap is purely record based, not talent based) like the 1-5 lions for example, the media starts getting all over their nuts saying how great they look.

Then next week when that team has a chance to make it 2 in a row and show consistent improvement, they lay an egg and go back to their old ways and it leaves the Redskins looking even worse for losing to that team. It's almost like the Redskins win/loss vs sub 500 teams is worse than above 500 teams.

I call it right now that the Jets stomp the lions 35-10 and Stafford throws 3 picks. Are the jets a better team than the redskins? Probably, but they didn't look like it last week.

I was thinking that, too.

Tim Ryan made a comment about the Lions were well on their way to turning it around. He said it last year, too.

Although I think it will take years to turn around the mess they built up there they have looked better in recent years. I'd like to see them do well. For the sake of their fans and their city.

The difference between the Lions now and all the other times that they've been "turning it around" is that their good, young players right now aren't the sort of highly drafted, maybe-they'll-be-good-or-maybe-they'll-just-be-OK guys that they had for the last ten years (Ernie Sims, Roy Williams, Kevin Jones, et al). Instead, they have Calvin Johnson and Suh, both of whom look to belong in top five lists of their respective positions, and solid, serviceable talent elsewhere on the roster. It's a much more promising mix of talent than has been there before.

But as is always the case, it'll come down to how the QB develops.

Does anyone see an upset special this week? Lions over the Jets? Ever since the Lions got Burleson back, their offense has been much more efficient, and I can see the Lions biting the Jets in the behind this weekend.

No. I think the Jets will be pissed about not only losing, but getting shutout at home. Jets win 27-16. Lions are riding high from their 2nd win. They come back down to earth (as usual after beating us).

Lions are monsters and I feel for any team that plays them in the second half. They will beat the Jets aand could end up finishing 8-8

A "monster" team finishing 8-8? The Jets will get to that little punk ass Stafford, something we failed to do.

Looks like I was right. Good.

It was hardly a beat down though, the officiating was pretty bad in favor of the Jets at times and Detriot was in position to win the game late in the 4th, they just fell a little short. I doubt we would do much better against the Jets.

It doesn't show that the Redskins are a good team, but it does show what many of us understood before we even played the Lions: they have been playing a little better than their record shows. They're playing every team close pretty much with a couple of exceptions just like we are.

Most people are distraught with this fact, since Detriot is supposed to be super-terrible. They were a couple of years ago but I've watched all of their games for 2 years since my soon to be father in law is from Detroit and is a big Lions fan. That team is a healthy Stafford and slightly better offensive line away from being a playoff contender. Add in a few linebackers that don't suck and perhaps a more talented FS and they're not far from being a very good football team. Best is a good runner, Calvin Johnson is incredible, their other options in Pettigrew/Bryant Johnson/Burleson are pretty good, their CB's are stepping it up surprisingly well, and their defensive line is exceptional.

None the less, we should have been able to beat them and it is disturbing that we lost the way we did.
