Washington Redskins: 4-4; Predicted finish 6-10
What’s gone right: The Redskins beat three teams with winning records despite an uneven, mistake-prone offense and a defense that gives up tons of yards. They did it with turnovers and playmaking performances from safety LaRon Landry. Rookie Trent Williams looks like a keeper at left tackle, a rare young cornerstone for this team to build around.
What’s gone wrong: It took seven weeks to get much from Albert Haynesworth. Donovan McNabb has struggled to learn the offense and doesn’t look comfortable. (And that was before he was benched for Rex Grossman.) Clinton Portis got hurt again. Despite all the turnovers, the defense is worse than it was under Jim Zorn last year.
What’s next: The bad vibes around this team won’t change with games against the Eagles, Titans, Vikings, and Giants coming up. Look for a 1-3 stretch there, which will knock them out of the playoff race.

If we go 2-2 in the next 4, we are going either 9-7 or 10-6. The 2nd half of the schedule favors us alot. We just got to beat the Eagles and the Viks.

Hmmm, so the SURE THING of a 1-3 stretch through our tough games didn't happen, but now it's SURE to happen with this next tough stretch. No, really, for real this time..haha
Predicting a record is always impossible, but i'd say it's especially hard to do with Washington. There really is no telling. This is a fun season, really.

The turnovers have been the difference in the first half.
This team at even strength with a neutral turnover differential is not going to be a favorite to beat many clubs.
The Redskins HAVE to improve and not merely tread water to go 4-4 and earn a .500 record.

You lost me at Florio's boy. Lol. How can you be a colleagues of a gossip hound? I can see 6-10, 8-8 or 10-6 as we have been mad inconsistent in all areas expect the turnover margin. We shall see.

What’s gone wrong: It took seven weeks to get much from Albert Haynesworth. (Can't that be a POSITIVE going forward?)
Donovan McNabb has struggled to learn the offense and doesn’t look comfortable.(That can change) Clinton Portis got hurt again.(And RT has done well, but got injured) Despite all the turnovers, the defense is worse than it was under Jim Zorn last year.(And is switched from a 4-3 to 3-4. Couldn't they improve with more time?)
Kind of a grasping, glass half empty take.

I'm calling it now: We're going to beat the Giants at least once this season. Why?
Because we lost to the Lions. That's how this team works.

6-10 seems about right. I'd hoped for 7-9 or 8-8 at the start of the season but we have lots of holes and are playing some well coached teams in the coming weeks after having the glaring weaknesses exposed for all to see. It could be a nasty run over the next couple of weeks.

Eh, it's a toss up. 6-10 wouldn't surprise me and neither would 10-6 and a playoff appearance. If this team can keep forcing turnovers on defense and get at least an average offensive attack going, 11-5 and even 12-4 is possible :) They've been in every game, all of them extremely close. I'm staying positive that this offense gets going and they finally put together a string of complete games. The Monday night game will set the tone (positive or negative) for the 2nd half of the season. HTTR

We weren't supposed to beat the Cowboys. The Cowboys were supposed to host the Super Bowl. Two examples of why hindsight is a *****.
Trying to predict what this team will do each week is IMPOSSIBLE. Really the only thing we can bank on is that it will go to the final play.

What?! We have the Giants twice, the Titans, the Bucs, and the Eagles. That's 5 teams that are hot and get after your QB.
6-10 is probably about right, though I could see them getting to 8-8 if the keep creating the turnovers, which is a big if.

What I get for thinking we would be the 2009 Vikings. Shanahan. McNabb. Just had wonderful thoughts about the season.
Best beat the Eagles. I just don't see us beating the Titans especially if we lose to Philly.

I disagree strongly with the 6-10 prediction. The Redskins can go 11-5, winning 7 out of their next eight. No team is unbeatable. The Giants look like the team to beat, but it's too soon to tell. The Bucs, Titans, Eagles, and Giants are playing good ball right now. But the Redskins weren't suppose to beat the Eagles or the Packers but they did and hung tough against the Colts, who in my opinion are the best team overall in the NFL. The Redskins can play with any team in the NFL.

6-10 is a fair statement considering the drama that is the SKINS. 8-8 is more realistic though. we havent reached our potential by any standard. 9-7 is a blessing and could put us in the mix for a playoff spot. i hope its the latter rather than the former. i want to see us play in Feb.

November-10th-2010, 07:37 AM
With all these things being said we are at 4-4 at the bye week and going to be playing the Eagles on MNF with the Eagles coming off a big win against the Colts. So it is easy to say we are going to go 1-3 in the next 4 games and only go 6-10 because Florio and company said we are. No one has been right about this team all year and that goes especially for me. They are very close to become a very good team again because of the coach staff and how things have been ran by the Shanahan's. Sometimes even the best of players need some attitude adjustments or fed some humble pie so they can re-focus themselves on playing good football. So all the talk about us going 6-10 this year because our schedule is geting tougher. That would mean we would go 2 and 6 over that stretch because the statistics or whatever else someone wants to say about the team that is going to make them right. These are the same people that said that Dallas was going to win the NFC East and was going to be the first team to play in a Super Bowl in their home stadium. Look at the Cowboys and what has happened to the supposely better teams this year. They aren't even in the playoff picture. So predicting a 6-10 outcome at this point an7yone can do and it may come true but at 4-4 no one even expected this at this point and that includes Florio and his boys.

Best part of that column was the prediction that Arizona wins the West with a 7-9 record. I will :puke: the first time a team gets into the playoffs in a regular schedule with a losing record.
6-10 would be a massive disappointment for the Redskins after a 4-4 start. I'm expecting a 8-8 finish. Would be excited with 9-7......but wins against both Philly and Tampa will need to happen to entertain thoughts about the paloffs.

yeah, in the face of another rebuilding year, that sounds about right. I said before the season started, I'd be happy with 8-8. But, 8-8 while the team shows some improvement, not this mess we have now.

Must wins for playoffs:
Eagles, Vikings, Cowboys,Bucs
Would be nice:
1 NYG win or Jags/Titans win
Lose to any of the NFC teams, especially Philly or Vikings - then they have the tie-breaker advantage over the Skins and it will be tough to get into the playoffs. AFC losses would suck but wouldnt hurt as bad as NFC Losses. The final game at home vs. the G-men could end up being very important.

As painful as it is to read, not out of the realm of possibility...8-8 seems posible, but a pretty rough stretch with our offense doing nothing. The Eagles game, IMO, is critical for the season, A win pushed us and gains some momentum. a loss is a killer in the bigger picture and may have a tail that last the rest of the season.

I could see us going 6-10 easily. We've been winning by the seat of our pants all year long. At some point you have to beat down a few teams. Unless we can figure out how to do that it's going to catch up to us.
EDIT: Wow. I just saw this:
4. Arizona Cardinals: 3-5; Predicted finish 7-9, NFC West Champs
That is one ****ty division.
Also, this isn't by Florio. It's some guy named Gregg Rosenthal.

Impossible isn't a strong enough word. Guys at work always talk about offseason predictions by the "so called experts" and I get annoyed by it. You can not predict records because you can not predict what will happen on the field each week unless you are a fortune teller. If it was possible, how is it dallas is 1-7 and cleveland beat NE AND NO

6-10 is a valid prediction, based on who the Skins play in the next 8 weeks. Chalk up two losses to the Giants. And possibly 1 to Dallas. (There, I said it.) Sorry, but who knows how the Cowpukes play now, and it's not like the Redskins have been world-beaters in Dallas over the last 18 seasons. If they can pull off 3 wins at home (Eagles, Vikings, and Bucs), that's 7 wins. Jax and the Titans are looking tougher each week - and the NFC clearly is the AFC's b*tch this season (Eagles' win over Indy notwithstanding.) You could substitute a win over the 'Pukes and a loss to the Bucs (who definitely look more improved than the Skins this year, but Morris is in year two of his coaching.
Any way you slice it, 7 wins this year is a good season, considering the mess that Shanahan/Allen walked into, as well as all the injuries. Plus, I hate to say it, the fewer wins this season, the higher they draft in round 1 next year. Another solid OT to build on... Better to end at 6-10 and out of the playoffs than 8-8 and out of the playoffs.

The Redskins' oline can't block anyone. We'll be lucky to win 4 more games this year with that line, especially against those teams. If the Skins had a decent line I think they'd be a playoff team this season.

I know predictions aren't worth the web space they take up, but I honestly can only see us losing to the Giants in NY as a sure loss in the rest of the schedule. All the other games are winable if we don't make stupid mistakes like we did in the Lions game. Eagles? McNabb is still looking to prove them wrong. Titans? Fat Alberts return to Tenn. Vikings? 4 INT's by Favre seals that one. Bucs are at FedEx and it'll be cold. Cowboys? Please.... first blowout of the season. Jags don't impress me. Giants at home to maybe decide the division.
We're only gonna win 2 of those? I don't see it that way.
