Is New Logo on the horizon?

I was on yahoo the other day and was looking for a picture of Orakpo so that I could draw it and frame it for my new REDSKINNNNSSSSSSS MAN CAVVVVVEEEE!!! LOL anyway I found a more modern verzion of the redskins with a spear behind it. Well I definently thought it looked great and that we should definently switch to it. The design is nothing real drastic just a moderate new age upgrade kinda like the lions did this year. Well I attached to pictures to the thread the one with the spear design that I found on yahoo and one that I photoshop myself to make it into a more simular design to the recent logo. If anyone knows where the spear logo came from I a would love to know what it was intended for and whats the plans for it? and how you would feel about the photoshop version I came up with? I actually think (minus the text) that this alternate logo would be sweet going forward. We'd have to make sure to darken our burgundy a bit more. No need to incorporate the circle.

Destino and I have been raving about this for some time and I actually like the version you found even more with that dark background.

Yeah some things should never be changed. I agree totally with you on this, but our logo has been changed multiple times in our history. I love this one the best but I do like the way the the new logo redskin head looks and at the same time doesn't really change the logo thats why I thought if we went with the same circle logo that it wouldn't change it completly just tweak it a bit in a modern way. I do admit though I am just as found of the spear logo as well :logo:

While I totally like the concept, I think the current logo has survived unchanged for too long to be messed with. I wouldn't mind having some newer as an alternate for merchandising or other occasions, but I really don't want to ever lose what we currently have.

Eh...I kinda think that most modern and "updated" NFL logos look like they were put through some generic graphic design software program because they all start sharing the same graphic traits: bold outlines...angular, blocky facial features (whether human or animal)...thick strokes...it's like they were all done by the same damn graphic designer who only has one style lol...

I prefer the classic logos to just remain as they are: Raiders, Steelers, Redskins...heck, even the Cowboys...keep 'em as they are. Updating some of these NFL team logos is about the same as putting Dennis Miller into the MNF booth: trendy, but doesn't make it better.

The newly designed logo looks good, but I wouldn't want it to become our logo. The problem with all these "modern" logos is that they end up looking dated and cheesy within a few years. Take the Titans for example, I find their current uniform/logo to be all sorts of ugly, even though it was "bold" and "modern" when it was new.

It looks like it was designed to look cool in the eyes of a 14 year old from 1995.

Yea but in my honest opinion..."Redskins" is open for interpretation. It's not as specific...and could mean a variety of things if the theme changed(like red war paint for example)

But with this logo....it leaves the term to not be open for interpretation. I have no problem with our current logo or name..I'm just saying that if I were handling it I'd keep the name and change the logo and I think there would be a stronger argument and less stress

I think either way we go is fine because the new ones really do have a great mix of history with a touch of modern!!! Some of the newer 'updated' logos seem to have a similar style that seems formulaic to a degree.

The spear head/Indian head looks sharp though and I like how the two are incorporated together. But tradition wins out I say. Love our classic look. Although I kinda wish we would go back to real gold vs. the yellow we currently wear. The darker burgandy makes us look more aggressive too I think....

And no updated two-toned jerseys either! To me that looks very high schoolish...:helmet::logo:

My personal favorite Skins logo is the Gibbs-style 'R'. I love it. The Skins should incorporate it more.

I grew up a Redskins fan and will die a Redskins fan I have always been proud of our logo, color and name. I believe we have the best of all 3 out of all 32 NFL teams maybe aside from the Raiders. I can tell you that some people become a fan or have became a fan of the Redskins just because of the uniform, colors and logo. Believe me if our name was changed (as some of you are talking about we should do) fans would be lost; keep in mind we are one of the biggest fan bases through out sports so fans don't just reside in Washington. I know many oiler fans who are not fans of the texans or titans, I know many Bullet fans who are not fans of the Wizards.

Im pretty confident things won't change and if the logo is changed thats fine but the name and colors should never be messed with and im confident they won't be.

I absolutley hate that there is a so called controversy with our name and native americans and such a passion from some people (a select few) to try and change our name and logo. Number 1 to avoid all controversies all we gotta to do if we HAD to is change our logo to the old school R that eliminates all controversy and correlation with native americans; a name change should NEVER EVER be an option.

The point I was trying to make is that some logos are timeless and never seem to change. The Chevy bowtie, Ford logo, GE, Dupont etc. These logos may have had some slight variations over the years but are essentially the same. Even the current Redskin logo has had a slight variation (curved feathers vs.the hanging feathers.) but is still essentailly the same since the early 70's. What's wrong with having a permanent identity?

The current Skins logo represents a better time when we were winning. All of our superbowls were under this logo. Yes I know they had other logos before but the teams were pretty much awful. Not unless you want to count the Sammy Baugh winning days when they wore leather helmets with no logo. I personaly like the spear logo but I don't think we should permanently go back to that. Throwbacks are cool from time to time though.

Yes I know this team has struggled since Gibbs 1 but we still have a great looking uni and I don't see the need to change just for the sake of change. Your mileage may vary..
