Weird. Witnesses said the 23 year old man ran toward the ledge and jumped. Drugs involved?

Yeah, strange...maybe he finally came to the realization that the Eagles would never win a superbowl, Vick or not?
Okay, that was tasteless, and I apologize. Poor guy. What a terrible way to go...although it seems that he was suicidal??
Terrible for his family and friends :(

My gut reaction to this was he was pushed by someone.
Either way, this sucks.

Might have been Desean Jackson
Coach Andy Reid chewed out DeSean Jackson in front of the entire team following Sunday's loss to the Bears, sources tell beat writer Geoff Mosher.
Jackson caught just two passes for 26 yards and appeared to "alligator arm" a potential reception in the fourth quarter. One source tells Mosher that Reid was irritated by Jackson's "loose demeanor" before the game and not taking pre-game drills seriously. Regardless, Jackson's playing time won't be affected by this scolding. In fact, we'd expect him to bounce back with renewed focus and be targeted heavily against the Texans' anemic pass defense Thursday night.

It sounds like it was intentional on the guy's part. That's weird, I wonder what prompted it? Condolences to his friends and family who are probably asking a lot of questions about this.

that's horrible.
He could have been really drunk or really high.

My wife and I heard about it last night on the Sunday Night pre-game show. Both of our initial thoughts was that the guy must have been very drunk. It is a shame regardless.

What a tragic waste of a life.
One shouldn't speculate, but reading between the lines it sounds like he was drunk, high, or just wanted to end it all.
Sad story. My condolences to the dudes family.

According to early reports, witnesses told police that Haverty ran to the ledge and jumped. But friends told the Chicago Sun-Times that Haverty may have been going for a cigarette.
If this is true...wow...what a total waste, something like wanting to smoke a single cigarette would cause someone to risk their own life.
