After several months of whispers and rumors (and a cameo in MTV Films' "Jackass 3D"), it appears as though America's two favorite animated idiots will be returning to your television screen. In the channel's upfront presentation Wednesday (February 2), the cast of MTV's "Skins" announced that "Beavis and Butt-head" would be coming back this summer.

I wonder if the show will still work. It was pretty popular in the early-mid 90's because they were a great caricature of the uncaring, slacker-teen attitude that was so prevalent. What are they going to do now...get involved and vote for president while managing 3 or 4 smartphones at once?

I think I dislike.

Personally, I liked the show's two spiritual successors.....King of the Hill and Daria.

I don't see how it will work. One of the main pieces of the show was them making fun of music videos. MTV doesn't have music videos anymore (and please don't bore me with the MTV2 or any other MTV channel that does, this is the main channel and they dont). Will they just make fun of all the ****ty reality shows MTV has?

The new Beavis and Butt-Head will remain as we knew them, perpetual high-schoolers, according to the Post, “but updated so that the pals — who obsessively watch music videos on a battered TV set — could lob their snarky comments at more current targets like Lady Gaga.”:)
Now if they can just get rid of Jersey Douchebags.

If they make fun of videos, it'll be funny.

I bought the damn DVDs and all the segments of them sitting there watching TV and cracking on it are gone.
You'd be surprised how unfunny it is without that.

I own a couple of the DVD's, I thought some of the video segments were on there as extras.

Yeah, we bought the DVDs and discovered the same thing. The shows just aren't the same without them cracking on the videos.

I think we still have a slacker-teen attitudes in this generation.

I never thought Beavis and Butthead were anything but annoying. I guess I'm completely in the minority, especially given my age.

Never cared much for them, but I think their moment has long since passed. South Park, Family Guy,etc. Have diluted the shock value and are much more clever. This is like VW reissuing the Beetle.

South Park was beyond stupid. And I didn't watch Family Guy enough to comment. But I can't imagine it was as awful as South Park. Beavis and Butthead will never be topped. Incredibly funny.

South Park is hilarious, you bite your tongue. Family Guy in its first run was hysterical and still good the first season it came back but I can't watch that crap anymore...not for one gem once every other episode.

The Loch Ness Monster bit on South Park was classic.

Agreed. I've always hated it, even in the beginning where it really was doing a better job of pushing the envelope. I got what it was doing, I just never thought it was funny. In fact, it pretty much always annoyed me. Still does.

90's Simpsons dwarfs South Park anyway.

Yeah, but you also said you didn't think Beavis and Butthead is funny. That stuff is comedy gold.

I can sign on to this. However, I rarely ever watched it post-90s.

Yup. Hated both. I'm not too fond of the Simpsons, either.

I know, for some people, I just completed the trifecta of "no taste in comedy". Or something.

Not my trifecta, no. I've always hated South Park. And I could see someone not liking the Simpsons. But Beavis and Butthead?

I don't know, just wasn't huge with any of my friends at the time when it was on, and wasn't with me, either. So I never gave it a chance or saw much of it. And what I've seen since, looking back, I think is stupid and not funny at all. Which obviously isn't fair, because I'm older now. But people my age (now) also found it funny at the time, which is what I don't get.

Their voices also annoy me. Just like South Park, same thing.

I think your age has alot to do with why you don't like it. Probably when that show was at its peak, you were around 10 or so. Alot of the humor in it probably went over your head. Especially when they critiqued the MTV videos and whatnot.

Definitely. I was too young to "get" the humor completely, and too young to really understand the huge deal that MTV was, with the music videos. By the time that I started paying attention to music, MTV was already garbage.

The new show, which debuts later this year, will be very familiar to fans of the Nineties original. "They'll be self-contained segments with the boys in different situations like they used to be," Toffler says. "But this time around, they'll watch Jersey Shore, UFC matches and user-generated videos from YouTube, in addition to music videos." All of the programming will be displayed on the duo's TV, even if it comes from YouTube — "like silly videos of cats playing music.":beavisnbutthead:

South Park always kills me. It can be very clever.. and it can be ridiculously absurd at the same time.

Beavis and Butthead,,It's literally the same thing every time.
like i said above,, take away them ragging on videos and it is remarkably dull.
Hahah. He said Cornholio for the twentieth time in five minutes. Oh, and there's TP for my bunghole again. for the ninth time.

They're funny when they're on the couch, Beyond that I'd say they produce about a laugh an hour.

The making fun of videos was always the best part. I still remember some of those bits, don't remember anything of the actual cartoons.

They should bring back Sifl and Olly instead. Me and 7 other people would be pumped......

It's on Thursday, so 2 more days.

Sucky thing is that it interferes with It's Always Sunny. Awesome thing is Beavis and Butthead replays at 11, and Sunny replays either at 11 or midnight, so you can still catch both. I is excite! Wowwy wow-wow

Just set mine. Apparently, the first episode has to do with the "Twilight" saga, with the boys trying to become "undead" to attract girls.
