I can't beleive that the Redskins - Cowboys are not the best rivalry... I think it's the best rivalry in all of the NFL and one of the best in all of sports... Glad to see that the Great Redskins Fan base was recognized... nothing can top us! HAIL!!!

Thats because over the last decade or so the rivalry has been kind of lopsided....
When we start winning more frequently, you will see the rivailry back up there.

Best fan base, Redskins: OK, I wasn't going to go here because there were like 20 other categories to choose from and, really, what's to be gained by picking this one? But I have lived among Eagles fans. I have lived among Giants fans. I have ample experience with a wide variety of people who are passionate about their teams -- Red Sox fans in Boston, Chiefs fans in Kansas City, Red Wings fans in Detroit, to name a few. And I have never, ever, ever encountered a group of people more intensely invested in the fortunes of their favorite team than the fans of the Washington Redskins. It's a tough time to be a Redskins fan right now, but it's easy to see that passion hasn't waned, and will roar back to vocal life as soon as the team turns things around. There haven't been too many things in this blog about which Redskins fans can feel good about lately, so I thought you guys deserved this.

I don't know if its the fact that the rivalry was lopsided (at least from the late Norv years until Gibbs returned.....since then its been fairly even) so much as neither team has done squat in the playoffs since the Cowboys SB run in the early to mid 1990s. The Skins and Cowboys still have the historic edge in Super Bowl appearances but Philly and NY have more recent braggin rights as far as getting further in the playoffs. Plus the fact that Philly and NY are closest geographically gives that rivalry an edge.
As far as Graziano's claim about the Skins being the best fan base.......it almost seems like the only reason he said this was because he felt like he had to give props to the Skins for something. I'm sure that the Skins have a decent nationwide following, probably behind the frontrunning Cowboys fans for divisional bragging rights. I'm not sure how the fact that DC is such a transient area and people from all areas of the country being here plays into things. Also, defining the "fan base" is something to be considered as well. We are seeing seats taken out of the stadium probably due to lack of demand, and like just about every other team, saw Steelers fans take over our stadium when Pittsburgh visited in 2008. Maybe people who have been to other stadiums can provide better comments, but as far as the division as concerned, I'd probably give the nod to most passionate fans....despite the boorish behavior of some.....to Philly.

Conn, I think the other thread was discussing a different blog entry that had more to do with individual players.

Nevermind that the Skins-Cowboys series has been split a the past few years, and he explains Giants-Eagles as "the Eagles have won six straight" (or whatever the number is)
