Would one of my Hokie brothers in Blacksburg tonight PLEASE find Bud Foster in the locker room at the half and tell him to stop calling a scared game tonight?!
The corners will NOT fall down on the wet grass, Bud. You haven't noticed A&M's corners falling down, have you? Please, Bud, for the love of God, before you throw away the season move the corners up and stop giving A&M receivers a 10 yard effing yard cushion on 3rd and effing FIVE.
Thank you.

To whichever one of you complied ... thank you. :)

He was giving them 10 yards and the CBs were backpeddling from there!
Kinda crazy tactics, turned out alright though.

First time I've ever seen a Bud Foster defense come out playing "not to lose." Wierd. And the contain on A&M's QB was atrocious. Both stopped suddenly after the half. So again, I thank whoever got to Bud in the locker room. :)
Strange game. A&M caught some simlpy unbelievable breaks in the 3rd when Tech kept threatening to put it away, and did a good job of taking advantage and hanging in. This is one of those wins you kind of say "whew," then realize hey, they managed to beat a pretty damn good team on a night when nothing seemed to go right.
Still ... if the pass D doesn't improve, this Tech team is gonna struggle against Pitt and Miami big time.
Hope Bud takes his Bad-Ass pills before those games. :)

I don't think there is any big problem that they can't fix, they have speed at the DB positions so any problems can be corrected.
Tech's special teams are incredible, why can't The Redskins get that kinda production? geez.

Beamer puts his front line players on teams. Not many coaches on any level do that. :)
Can you imagine SS announcing that LaVar, Champ, Trotter, Smoot, Coles, Trung, Darnerian and a few other starters were gonna play on coverage teams? Hell, he'd be trucked off in a white jacket with too-long sleeves faster'n you can drain a Coors on the 4th of July.

Kevin Jones looks to me like a cant miss back.
Like the kind of guys who is going to be a Priest Holmes, he can do it all. I think if this guy is there in the draft you just gotta take him. Regardless of any needs or holes. This guy could be the heart of an offense. If we had Jones, Coles, Gardner, Trung, Betts, Jacobs, Ramsey, our O Line..........thats just insane.

KJ's an interesting player. Just have a couple of concerns at this point. One is his propensity to hesitate at the LOS before making his move. Works in college ... won't at the next level. He's gonna have to learn to slam it up inside whether the seam is clear or not. Don't see that in him yet.
The other thing is short yardage. Couple of times tonight on short yardage, he took it off tackle and didn't explode into the one man in his way. Once, he got enough by the length of the ball, the other time got stoned and pushed back. KJ hasn't learned to "finish" his runs yet. The good news is, when he finds open space, he's a slippery sumbitch. :)
The kid has all the potential in the world. I'd just like to see him raise the intensity level just a hair, and develop a bit of an attitude running inside. That's all I see between him and a top 10 or better pick.

OM-
A few things I noticed at Lane Stadium tonight
1) We are the craziest fans ever for braving the elements tonight. The wind sucked, the rain sucked, I was drenched and it was miserable being there
2) The mistakes the defense made on that 97 yard drive were silly and correctable. Eric Green had 2 picks and dropped them both, McNiel made some great plays
3)The D scheme is just strange. Having the corners play virtually as safety's and having 8-9 in the box. It baffles me to be honest but so far its worked
4)Bryan Randall is plain clutch. He has learned from his mistakes from last year clearly. No fumbling, nice plays, etc. He is a very good qb that can make plays
On the whole the team showed some killer instinct when it was 21-19. Immediatley Tech drove 80 yards for a TD and then made Texas A&M pay after the mistake on the kickoff. Not quite Top 10, or Sugar Bowl but things are getting there.
And damn am I glad to be in a dry, warm apt. Tailgating since 3 pm in the rain can take a toll on the clothing
