If the Washington area wants a baseball team (which admittedly is beyond its control at this point) a hopeful step might be the elimination of broadcasts of ORIOLES games on WTEM, a WASHINGTON sports radio station :)
Angelos and the Baltimore crowd have done everything possible to maintain the fiction for those outside the region to look at Baltimore and Washington as one market even though everyone living here knows this is a fiction.
The Baltimore Orioles used to have "Baltimore" written across their jerseys, for a reason :D
Now the jerseys merely say "Orioles", as if they are now the team of everyone in the Delaware, West Virginia, Maryland, DC and Virginia area.
What a joke.
WTEM should boot the O's and local fans should boycott a team whose owner is the sole stumbling block to Washington getting a franchise.
Without Angelos a team would have been here instead of Tampa Bay.
