I posted this question in the Twitter thread but figured I would post a new thread as well.

Well if the last 10 years are any indication.......I'd keep the money.

I think it depends on the level the owner and fans have patience
after one year a surprising large portion of fans want the shanahans out of here already.
which is funny given how many of them have ridiculed the owner for knee jerk reactions, and not trying to stick to a long term plan

It really depends how we treat the rest of this offseason and if we get our QB next year

An average franchise has about a 3% chance each year. Not many average franchises win championships.
Call me when the Skins are average again. :ols: I'll save my money, for now.

I stake my claim on the 2015-2017 range when our QB of the future (next years top 5 pick) has 3-5 years in the system

The direction we're currently heading under this regime ..... cautiously optimistic.
I honestly believe that by the end of his initial 5 year deal (Shanahan's), we'll be a play-off challenging team again built the right way with quality youth developing together. And once you get into the dance, ANYTHING can happen.
I'm real optimistic for the first time in years on my team going forward. But add a 'cautiously' in front of that as regards a 4th Lombardi within the next decade. Lot of other good teams already established out there all wanting the same thing.

Low probability that the next decade comes and goes with us only winning one Super Bowl. I'd put your money on three to four.

I know two things for sure... Shanny wont be the coach and Beck wont be the QB.
The Skins dont even have a player qualified to be a pro NFL QB... and you realy kind of need a good QB to win a superbowl in this league. The Skins dont even have a mediocre or average QB on the roster.

I can see us getting 1. If we stick with this current plan and Snyder gives Shanahan time, we could have a very good foundation in place.

Each to their own, but I'd totally dispute that.
Only Dallas with Witten could lay a claim on the TE's. And going forward as a group I'd take our core of wide outs and backs against any of the divisional rivals. QB's obviously a whole other story, but that will come in time.

You have to be the biggest Redskins homer to suggest that our offense matches up against anybody in our division.

Honestly, save for McCoy, I wouldn't want anyone from the Eagles group over what we have. Granted, a lot of that is just potential in our case with some very talented, if unproven at this level kids. But the Eagles have nothing on their roster that I'd take over that potential apart from the aforementioned McCoy.

I didn't say that. As we stand, with no competent pro QB (the unproven Beck not withstanding) and a boneheaded OC who left more questions than answers going forward after year one, not to mention the current state of the line prior to FA; our O is a mess.
But pound for pound, in the skill positions outside of QB, all be it quality potential as mentioned above; we stack up to all the divisional rivals IMHO.
Hail.
*Edit* But thanks for the 'homer' line. I've never had that said to me before on here. I'll take it over the 'hater' bunkem that's been thrown my way over the years for daring to question this organization.

I'm impressed with their young skill players, so I would love for your assessment to be right. I don't know much about the young guys we have (though I have an irrational love of Terrence Austin), so I can't comment. The obvious advantage I noticed with Philly is that their guys have all done it (whatever "it" is) in the NFL.

I don't know. In the first year in a new offensive system, there were flashes where the team shined. Now of course there were times where it was rough, but you would expect that from a team in the first year of a new offense.
As for the question of the thread, I say it is 50-50. We have seen the NFC East revolve at the top. We ran the 80's, Cowboys had the 90's, Eagles the 00s', with the Giants winning a Super Bowl in each decade. The way it is looking, I am optimistic that Shanahan will get this thing on the right track. The next six months are very important.

Who really knows? All I want is for the Skins to get back to playoffs. Once you are in the playoffs, anything can happen. It's not always the best team that wins the SB, but who the hottest or has the ball bouncing their way at the time.
I think ShanAllen can get us back to the playoffs. From there, it's anyones guess.

When we have a quality starter at QB, and a line to protect him, and receivers to throw to, and players who actually fit the defensive scheme the coaches want to run....then we have a chance.

Technically McNabb is on the roster, and he's an average QB. If you want to say that McNabb is as "good as gone" then I'll say Grossman is as "good as here" in which case we have Grossman, and he's a good QB. He won't take the team on his shoulders like Manning or Brady, but he's shown that he's more than competent.

The chances are as good as any other team. The GM and HBC need to work their plan and put all the pieces to the puzzle on the same roster for a couple of years to make a solid run. Fans (including the Owner) are impatient and probably won't like the slow walk to competitiveness. It's apparent that MS doesn't care what anybody else thinks and him and BA are working at a common goal. It will happen for the Skins within the next decade. Hail!!!

I don't agree entirely... We need a strong O and D lines and a top 5 Defense to allow for a NFL QB to manage a game. Redskins have not been blown out of many games in the past and the needs to create powerful and skilled lines will pay dividends quickly. The next step is going to put the right combo of skilled players together on both sides of the ball with some big play ability on teams. This is going to be a .500 team for another year or so and the next step will take place after the cohesion is created.

We were 8th in passing yards per game. It was our 30th ranked rushing from the lack of any O-line that made us the worst.

With 2 young pass rushers (one that we know can get it done, and another that hopefully pans out) and a dominant young safety, we have potential to have a good defense for years.
With Cooley, Davis, and Armstrong we have 3 receiving options that, if combined with a legit #1 receiver, would be a great supporting cast. We also have a solid young left tackle.
That at least gives us a chance to make some sort of noise.

We're going to be a playoff team in two years time and a division title threat in three years time. That's all I care about, to be honest. I just want to see the B&G after the regular season ends. I'll worry about the SB after this happens.

Assuming each team had an equal shot every year, it'd be 3.125%. Of course, not all teams are going to have an equal chance. So really, as of now I'd say our chances are less than 3%. Of course if we turn things around the next few years that number could go up.

only way that is going to happen is if we get real linemen on both sides of the ball. having a consistent coaching staff for once wouldn't hurt, either.
