The best week of the summer as far as I'm concerned.
Always love watching shows on these fascinating animals.
Anybody else watching?

I am not sure if I like or not, is that shark week the past few years is all about shark attacks and scaring the public. Pretty sure the narrorator is the same guy who does the horror movie coming attractioins.
Used to be about more stuff than just sharks attacking humans.

Just said the same thing to my fiance. I still love Shark Week, but it used to be about more than Great Whites attacking people. You actually learned stuff, and there was more than 1 kind of shark.

I agree with the sentiment about the change in programming over the years.
However, this newest special has been pretty good and hasn't dealt much with attacks and dealt more with the dangers sharks are facing.

Enjoy it while it last, it always seems to go by in flash. But i guess that's true about many things.

It's amazing that we are all obsessed with Great Whites and know so little. We don't even know where they breed. They're more secretive than Letterman or Hanks.

I enjoy watching these shows.
I wish they would focus on other species besides the White Sharks. Things like tigers and bull sharks are much greater dangers to people.
I really didn't like the one that showed the baby white swimming near the Santa Monica pier.

3. Shark Week
3 great things for me during the year.

Just got finished watching some of the Shark Week programming. Man, that is some great stuff right there. I could literally watch that stuff all day. Riveting.
That was a close call with the two dudes in the cage. Wow.

I haven't watched a lot, but yesterday caught parts of a couple of shows. Two things "bugged" me about what I saw:
1) Telling humans to respect sharks and that they rarely attack humans, and then showing graphic imagery of shark attacks.
2) "Scientists" luring sharks in with food, and then saying that even though this will lead to a change of shark behavior (the sharks associate humans with food), that it is a "good" change because we need to have our own behavior change (paraphrased).
But then I watched Air Jaws (repeat from last year), and that was awesome. I've done open water swims training for triathlons, and many times as I'm looking down in murky, low-vis water, I remember the camera view on the fake-seal made from styrofoam as they're dragging it through the water, right as the Great White comes surging upwards. HR, even in a brackish creek that is only 8-10' deep, still goes up a few ticks thinking of that.

Yeah, I was thinking the same last night and didn't quite get the benefit vs risk. Dude has brass balls for sure though.

What struck me last night was the attack on the boy in California where two Great Whites attacked together. Gruesome and strange.
