I grew up two doors down from Chris in Upper Marlboro, MD. Dude was quiet, unassuming and a great neighbor. I am so happy for him and his family. Congratulations Mr. Hanburger.

That is so cool you lived 2 doors down from him. Here is something I posted on another Chris Hanburger Thread:

Way over due for this Hall of Fame Induction (like James Arthur). In 1976 when my father first introduced me to becoming a Redskins Fan Chris Hanburger was one of the first names I can remember at the time I don’t even think I knew what a LB was. It was just a catchy name because it sounded like Hamburger. On a side note I saw an interview with Texan Matthew McConaughey and he is a Redskins Fan and he thinks it either started buy rooting for the Indians in Cowboy / Indian Movies or because he liked Hamburgers as a kid and the Redskins had Chris Hanburger.

Chris was one of my favorite players back in the day, him and Larry Brown were true Redskins.

I was wondering if all the Redskins have got in recently had to do with Art Monk. You know, how bowls like to book teams that travel well and not just the teams with the best record. I wonder if snubbing the Redskins, esp. the Gibbs' Redskins for nearly 20 years, if they were just blown away by the crowds we can generate and that's why suddenly Grimm gets his due and Hanburger gets his long overdue recognition. Is the HOF voters just coming wise or it it because they realize that the Redskins fans represent.

Not only was he a great physical player, he also called all of the defenses, not just audibles.

I was at the Monk / Green Induction in 2008 and there were so many Redskins Fans you almost felt bad for the 4 other inductees. I was talking to other Redskins Fans at some of the events and we were talking about how this might open the door for other Redskins and jokingly said how if the people of Canton had a say so they would want all the borderline HoFers like Charles Mann, Joe Jacoby, Brian Mitchell etc to be inducted into the Hall because of the money it would pump into there economy during induction weekend.

I always thought that Jake should get in. Thought there should be at least two or three of the Hogs. Mind you, I kinda also thought they should be inducted as a group. That would have been cool. I mean Jeff Bostic is not a HOFer probably, but as a member of the Hogs he clearly was an integral part of one of the best units ever in football, but in their way Jake, Bostic, Lachey, Grimm, and the rest deserve it. I think a strong case could be made for Jacoby individually and maybe Lachey.

Congratulations, Chris. A most fitting addition to the hall of legends.

Yes he is, I know I will probably be jumped by some fans for this but a lot more humble then Darrell Green boasting "I belong here". Sorry but that rubbed me the wrong way.

Way to stay humble Chris! :point2sky

It was before my time, but I love the history. Congrats to Chris Hanburger #55, The hangman! 14 straight seasons without missing a game. Holy smokes!

The Chris Hanburger "Hangman (http://www.redskins.com/media-gallery/videos/Fan-Day-and-Honorary-55-8-6/46df784e-a7f2-443b-a23f-bafcab5fbbde)" video at redskins.com was cool.

He was so humble, I was almost in tears. He was one of my dad's favorite players. I wanted to go but was stuck working. I was hoping at the last minute I could get off and drive up (about 2 hours for me)... but no such luck. So I watched it here. Wow. Loved how he started the speech. And he seemed so overwhelmed and humbled by it all. Go Chris.

Great speech. I was 3 when he retired, so I never got to see him play live. I have to say, I love the barbaric style of play from back in the day and he just ****ing brought it. Loved the quote in the one clip where he said if you don't like how he tackles, duck, lmao.

"If he doesn't want to get hit like that, let him duck his head." :ols:

Congratulations, Chris.

I loved that quote too. The best part is the sniff at the end. "If he doesn't want to get clotheslined, let him duck his head." [Sniff. Shrug.]

An all-time great Redskin. So glad he's in.

Chris is the definition of a "true Redskin". Thanks for all those great years.
