Now Eric Mangini's an ESPN NFL analyst. Anybody who retires or get fired lands at ESPN. They've introduced about two or three new analyst this season on top of the ones they already have. I know that can't be sitting well with the analyst that they have considering the more analyst they have, the less TV time everyone gets, which means less pay.

Most of the analysts use ESPN as a launch base to NFLN or something. That, and the more "analysts" they have, the more they can put up on their website. More readers = more money.

ESPN is really starting to go downhill. I used to love watching SportsCenter in the morning and before bed. The football analysis is terrible. I never watch NFL Live. The only good NFL show on ESPN worth watching is NFL Matchup and that's on at like 7am Sunday mornings. The rest of it is unwatchable IMO.

Starting to? ESPN has been a caricature of it's self for years now. That being said, Eric Mangini has no right being anywhere near a football discussion. The guy has no football smarts.

One to spout out useless incorrect information and 6 others to shake their heads in affirmation so that no one watching knows that what that guy just said:
A - doesn't make any sense
B - isn't actually true
C - was a waste of time

Yo, hook me up as a NFL analyst. I can provide as much generic commentary as they can.
"Yeah, So-and-so is a great coach, look at this play here, So and so has a good defense, I like Favorite to win the Super bowl"

And just added a few days ago, Jerry Rice. He's making his debut in September.

Mark Schlereth is pretty damn good, actually. And I love listening to Clayton when he's on. And I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I used to love Salisbury. The guy always spoke his mind, never sugarcoated anything. And he and Clayton going at it was classic. LoL

The sad thing, most of the worst commentary is from ex-players, but that's who the fans want to hear from.

Herm Edwards is pretty good, imo. The rest I could go without.

Parcells is on ESPN too.
They're stacked with useless analysts who just provide a generic opinion. What a shame.

How many morons does it take to analyze football for ESPN? Apparently lots. They should have outbid NFL network for LaCanfora, he could hold it down all on his own.

Well, I'm glad I don't have ESPN or cable
Avoid the media hype and blitz and vapid analysis. Seriously, I only watch the games now. There's no point watching pre-game shows anymore. Guys on forums actually do a better job breaking down tape than the "alleged experts". Sad

I think they're trying to build their own has been ESPN football team.
A few of them are good though. Steve Young, Jaws, Trent Dilfer, and Merril Hoge to name a few.

Berman's voice :twitch:
seriously!! he is a parody of all those cheesy sports movies you see with the over the top commentators. He is a punchline that has gone on too long with his "back back back back" and "whoop" noises. I was so glad I had the chance to boo him at Canton in 08.

I can't stand his voice and I can't stand Siragusa's voice.
Give me Gus, or Ian Eagle, or Brent Musburger.

Gruden is starting to cross the line with me now too. The man knows football inside and out but he went from being "Chucky" to "everything is sunshine and rainbows" Gruden and its nauseating.
"Let me tell you something, I like this kid. He knows football" its like he is being overly nice for some reason. I liked the hard nosed Chucky who was honest with his assessments.

I get what you're saying but I think he's mostly doing that with younger kids like rookies coming into the league. I think he just gets damn excited about the game. He seems incredibly genuine to me and I love his enthusiasm.
And let me tell you something, that man, that young man Jon Gruden, he loves football. God, I love that he loves football!

How many espn NFL analysts does it take to change a light bulb?
I think espn is literally trying out the theory that if you stick enough monkeys in one room for long enough you'll get Shakespeare.

It's all bull**** anyway. Sports work like this: If it works it's great and if it doesn't you should have known better or you are a total idiot. If a guy was stocking grocery store shelves prior to starting at QB for your football team had failed then the coach must have been an absolute moron. The fact that Warner brought home a Lombardy makes the move genius. There is no magic formula to knowing who is going to succeed and who will fail either. Great coaches have chosen bad players.
