Lions defensive coordinator: Nnamdi Asomugha is one-trick pony (http://www.freep.com/article/20110818/SPORTS01/108180491/Lions-defensive-coordinator-Nnamdi-Asomugha-one-trick-pony)

On Wednesday, Cunningham explained how small cornerbacks get away with rough play on big receivers like Calvin Johnson. When someone suggested the corners need to get bigger, Cunningham cited Asomugha, who is 6-feet-2, 210 pounds.

"The problem is the way the rules are the 6-2 guys can't play," Cunningham said. "You've got one guy in the league, Nnamdi, and all he does is press. You ever see him make a tackle? He presses the wide receiver, and he's great at it. But there's more to playing DB than just pressing wide receivers."

There's not much more to playing CB than preventing your man from catching passes. That's what NA does.

my thoughts exactly. The guy doesn't let receivers catch passes against him. That's good enough for me.....

I think the Lions DC should get an account on ES where similar arguments such as "Demarcus Ware is a one-trick pony; he only sacks the QB with amazing frequency" is considered a good point.

Reminds me of the reason Buddy Ryan cut Chris Carter.

You can go a long way in sports with a habit, look at the 90's Dallas Cowboys teams. Considered the best dynasty in history; not perfect by any means (a lot of players with problems).
