Eh, they just wanted to make sure that there weren't many teams that had room for him, since teams will be doing cut downs soon.

http://www.footballnewsnow.com/2011/report-james-davis-meets-with-washington-redskins-will-be-granted-release/
One week after leaving the Washington Redskins facility and going on the lam, running back James Davis is on the verge of being a free man.
Davis traveled back to the DC area to meet with Redskins management Sunday morning.
According to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network he will be granted his release.
Head coach Mike Shanahan told reporters he believed Davis retired from the NFL, but that apparently is not the case.
A healthy Davis will pursue opportunities elsewhere according to La Canfora.
The question for him is whether he be given those opportunities.

Another display of the Shanahan family's arrogance. The guy skipped out because he wasn't guaranteed playtime, maybe if these two bozo coaches knew anything about building a team they would have given a young up and comer a shot to prove himself. Instead he's going to go to a team with a real HC, like Ken Wisenhunt in AZ, and will blow up. Nothing's changed with this team Snyder is still pulling the strings, it's all about the big names, and guys like Davis just get the raw end of the deal.

Is...is this post serious? I think this post is serious. But it can't be. Something this insane can't possibly be written from a place of seriousness.

hahaha, figured I'd break the ice and play the role of the irrational Shanahan/Snyder hater who thinks every player the Skins get rid of is a beast.

Yes, a real head coach would keep a guy who quits on his team. That's how you build a team, just find as many cry babies as you can who only do things they want to do for themselves. You need those kinds of examples on the team.

What are you smoking? So, James walking out on his team and coaches during training camp was because of "the Shanahan family arrogance"? You make absolutely no sense at all. Thank God you don't scout for the Redskins and make these types of decisions. There is not a chance in hell that anyone cannot say that Hightower, Torain, Helu and Royster are not better than James Davis.
Edit: I see what you did there Sassy......it got me on the warpath :)

This is what Davis gets for me putting him on my fantasy team at the end of last season and I still lost.
Take That James Davis!
(of course if I was putting Davis on my fantasy team I wasn't even close to winning but that's beside the point)

We should have traded him to ARZ for Kolb....heck they gave us Hightower for Holiday. It's worth a shot:)

Looks like the Giants are so thin at WR that Devin Thomas is going to make their team...See ya Week 1 knucklehead!

Devin is special teams (aka the new Sinorice Moss) if he were going to crack the 53 man roster he had the best opportunity to do it last year in Carolina or even when he signed with the giants last year when theor receivers were dropping like flies.

Davis is a good back but there must be something wrong with his work ethiv for Shanahan to relaease him, trade for Hightower and draft two other backs. Hightower, Royster, Helu and Torrain are better than him obviously, otherwise he would have gotten more playing time. I guess he thought he was better than he really was. He may get a couple workouts with other teams bu don't be surprised if he is not picked up.

he has all the tools but for whatever reason it doesn't translate onto the field. at clemson he was a top dog but now he struggles when the competition is much more fierce. good luck to him but he is not a top flight back in the nfl, no way no how...
