Thought we could start of list of positives that we saw out of the team tonight, keeping in mind this is only year 2 of a long rebuilding process. I'll start and each poster adds on that they saw. Figure it's a good way to get rid of some of the rampant negativity in here. :ols:
The Defense
Not as many sacks as I would have liked, and no recoveries on any of the 5 million botched snaps the pukes had, but holding Dallas to 6 FGs and no touchdowns? Big victory

Trent Williams
Had a very good game against Ware. Had him frustrated as hell most of the game.

edit: Please nobody use the term "moral victories" in here though. I hate that term. Nothing wrong with looking at the positives, but there are no victories but the final score.

I have a couple:
-Josh Wilson had a good game. He defended a lot of passes.
-It was good to see Cooley get in on the action. Cooley had some really nice blocks in addition to his catches.
-Gano made all his kicks (the bad snap not being his fault).
-Moss is still money. He had some big catches, and saved Rex by playing DB on a couple bad throws.
-Fletch is still one of the best. He is a tackling machine.
-I love our front seven on defense, and the way Haslett is using them. Our defense is controlling the line of scrimmage. Kerrigan, Bowen, and Cofield are making a big difference.

2 weeks in a row we shut down the run in the first half but in the second half they run wild
Trent Williams is good at tackling, why he was not called for several holds is beyond me,
Rex is not the guy never was never will be, Let Beck have the ball next week or the week after the bye
on the bright side we are so much better than last year, I am still pleased at our progress. Lets see how they bounce back next week

The real burning question about the game last night is Will the goal posts be moved back to the goal line where they belong? In 1973 the Redskins beat the Cowboys 15-14 by scoring 5 field goals vs Dallas' 2 touchdowns. This seemed to piss off the Cowboys owner so much that as the head of the competition committee he had the goal posts moved to the back of the endzone in the following season where they remain today.

We wore the gold pants in Dallas for the first time since the '70's.
I love that 'our' look is transcending to most every game.

There is no positive when we lose to Dallas. None.

This game had all the settings of the Cowboys blowing out the Skins. If it happened last year, we would see a 35-10 game, so we are going in the right path. Just need to work on the mental breakdowns in the final qtr, and we'll see a hungry team in the playoffs...

I don't think you follow the spirit of this thread.
Laron played well, especially considering he hasn't been on the field for 9 months. He played with more intelligence than I had feared as well

This defense is the best we've had for years.....they have become aggressive. The scheme fits the players. We have playmakers and now they can go make them.. Our offense is still the weaker of the teams, HOWEVER it is still better than it has been for years. Year 2 of this system and we are seeing production. It was a loss, but I still have real good vibes for the season!!!

-Trent Williams played his tail off yesterday
-Helu is proving that he's for real. At some point they may need to start him.
-Laron was his usual agressive self. Nice forced fumble in the first half. Just hopes he stays healthy, we NEED him.

On the bright side the Skins are 1 game closer to a Franchise QB!!!

I thought that was the best game Trent has ever played -- he looked like the #4 overall pick. He just manhandled Ware all game. Very impressed with the Silverback and 4/5th of the line...um Jammal Brown, not so much...

Maybe I missed it, but I was surprised to not see Armstrong out there at all? Did he get hurt in practice or in the dog house for something? I figured he or Donte would have been active to have a burner out there on the WR spot.
Also Banks I thought was terrible last night. He looked slow and indecisive.

For a conservative game plan, going 2 TE and a H back most of the game, I thought we moved the ball well. I actually can sit and watch our O and not just hope for 1 first down before we punt.
Our D was great, football Gods decided not to allow 1 out of 7 fumbles go our way! (oh well.)
We were leading a division game on the road for the better part of 4 quarters.
I know we weren't going to go 16-0, but it is just so hard to swallow a loss, when you're that close to a great road divisional win!!

The defense definitely played well. Wilson I think impressed me the most. He made a few great plays to break up passes.
Helu, Moss, Cooley, Gaffney, and Williams looked good on offense.
I'll even say Rex didn't look too bad. He did a good job avoiding pressure most of the game. I think everyone saw that strip coming there at the end. He has to hold onto the ball there or throw it away.

I read that Armstrong was having some hamstring issues.

I'm not specifically picking on your post Matt, more just running with a similar line in a lot of others. And I apologize for a negative in a positive thread. But people are giving the D way more credit than it deserves.
There was a lot of good last night. And there was also a lot of bad. It was another very mixed day for a D that's a work in progress. When you give up big plays in the second half like the previous week, only this time don't get bailed out by the O, I don't know how anyone can say they played really well.
Hail.

I like the heart and soul of this team vs.last years team, it is a feeling of getting better. If eveyone thought there would be no bumps in the road this year you need to calm down. This is a lon season and I see the team getting better as the year continues.
