More bad memory's than good against the Giants, like Schroeder falling to pieces in the windswept '86 Championship game shut-out.

I just can't believe how many people remember it that way. Schroeder managed to deal with those 40 mph winds and hit Gary Clark on like 3 sure long TD passes, all of which Clark just let fall thru his fingers. I'll never get how Schroeder becomes the goat for that day, and not Clark.

Did he? I vaguely remember one early bomb that should of been a TD Clark dropped, but three? Darn, all lost in the midst of time for me. That said though we threw almost exclusively 2nd half being down 17 at the half if I recall and he couldn't connect for ****. The concussion when LT levelled him didn't help, but still.
Unless I get to see a highlight or some **** now to refresh me memory, Jay had a nightmare that day in freezing NY.

I'm sure there were two that would have gone long, probably for TDs and I know there was another that would have been at least a fairly long play. There were other drops, and the bad snap (knocked down by the wind) on the FG attempt. Plus he was getting hit all day.
Between the elements and the lack of help he got, I thought Schroeder was borderline heroic that day, but I guess that's just me.

Meh, maybe I'm being harsh on him and the memory's believing what it now wants to believe 25 years on; but after the year he'd had to that point I've always had a large part of that day on him, even taking the fierce Giants D front and adverse conditions into account.
Hail.
*Edit* Geez Louise. I just looked up a few stats for that day and it makes horrid reading. We passed 34 of 35 plays the second half in trying to come back, and went 0-14 on third down, and 0-4 on fourth down. Jay went 20 of 50 FWIW. Horrid day for all concerned.
As a side note, the only two times Gibbs was shut-out in his career were in the Meadowlands. Like I said, mostly BAD memory's of the Giants.

The biggest crime against history is in the 1987 Americas Game when Jay Schroeder is made out to be a villain in the 1986 Championship Game by resident cry baby Doug Williams.
Somehow Jay wanting to finish the game after getting beat up all day was made to be a bad thing because he hurt poor little Dougie's feelings because he waved him off.

I really think we are gonna sweep the series this year for the first time in decade or more.

Yeah, first sweep of the Giants since 1999. The last two times (prior to this year) that we've beat the Giants we've made the playoffs... 2005 and 2007... so I'll definately agree with you that the Redskins v. Giants series memories are mostly bad. But the wins have been epic.
