Rex had his best game of the season in week 1 vs the Giants. Again, he is showing up today
10 of 17, 122 yards, 1 TD, and outstanding on third down.
The 2 INTs were off deep passes, which we all know he can be 50/50 on.
Rex has spread the ball around to the WRs, been on time and done a great job in the pocket. The pasing game has been diverse.
Something to build on with Rexy doing his thing today. It shows that this offense can really roll with quality QB play.

This game showed Grossman's weaknesses and it really kept the game closer than it should have been. He cannot throw the ball deep consistent enough to be an elite playaction QB. His 2 interceptions were good reads that were inaccurate. We know what he is. He has a solid short and medium passing game that has shown up the past couple of games on a consistent basis. He has not shown that he can hit receivers deep on stride though to test single coverage. Way too often do I see an underthrown ball get picked when the WR has a step on the defender. He needs to work on his deep game if he has any hope in holding on to his job as next year goes by with the future on the bench.

Rex played ok today, I thought he read the defense well and made the right throws, even if they didn't have enough mustard on them a few times.
Hell, if he's gonna throw picks, I'd prefer them to be way down the field... essentially a punt as it showed today.

He had both of those WR open though, Starting QBs do not miss those passes as often as Grossman does. Defense really bailed the skins out today, not to mention some poor efforts by some of the Giant players.

Remember what I said to you on CZ about Rex, the Pats defense and the Giants defense? lol ;)

If Rex had as much arm strength as he does confidence in his arm, he'd be making a lot of great deep throws and would probably be starter material. Unfortunately it looks like he's confined to short and intermediate throws.
I do hope he comes as a backup next year, he's a gamble but when he plays well he plays fairly well. John Beck, as nice as he is, has no business on being on an NFL roster in my opinion.

It's hard to tell whether Rex can still go deep with consistency given all of the turnover at the tackle position this year. I'm sure the Skins don't have too many plays now where that is the primary option.

Rex looked really good after he got clamed down. But even better they looked like they all worked together. Great win. The D was awsome.

Rex vs. Eli (mano a mano - 5 regular season games since 11/12/06
Rex's QB rating: 91
Rex's Yards: 1368
Rex TDs: 9
Rex Ints: 4
Rex Fumbles: 4
Rex Sacked: 15
Eli rating: 57
Yards: 1084
TDs: 2
Ints: 9
Fumbles: 5
Sacks: 10
The only above stat in which Eli was superior was 10 sacks vs. 15 sacks. Rex has the edge everywhere else. Rex's team won 3 of the 5 games. Today was Rex's 45th career NFL regular season start.

Rex played well today. Again I can't fathom how anyone would not want him back as a bridge starter and/or backup.
Moss reiterated again today that the offense has fed off Rex and his confidence this last month.

Rex's INTs didn't even hurt us today. We came out of BOTH of those INTs stopping the Giants and ending up with improved field position after their punt.
Dominating performance today by the Skins.

I really do think that Rex would make an exceptionally good backup or third stringer on this team. I just really don't want him as the starter.

Rex can throw the deep ball just fine.
Take a look at the bomb he threw to Stallworth.

The problem today was he threw into the wind. Dumb play call if you ask me.

I dont think Rex won us the game. I will applaud him for keeping his head up after 2 INT's. However, I think it would of been different if Nicks had caught that ball for a TD (and some other things), but The ball bounced in our favor today. Yes, he hit him some deep balls etc... but he missed on a bunch as well :) His still too inconsistent and makes bad decisions. His a great backup
Our defense stepped up, made a big sack at the end of the game on 4th down. Gaffney had a heck of game. Helu and Royster provided almost 100 yards rushing as well.

I'll never be satisfied with the play of Rex Grossman until he can go at least three games without turning the ball over. Grossman is a league wide NFL joke....has been his entire career. I am however grateful for the win...I just hate the guy who is under center.

Rex threw for less than 200 yards and had more turnovers than touchdowns (shocking). This game was won by the defense that completely dominated the giants. The turnover machine continued doing what he's done all season (2 turnovers a game) and I'm not crediting him with this win. If he's back next year as a back up so be it, if he's gone I won't lose any sleep.

Now this is a very reasonable, and still debatable, "**** Rex" post, if you will. :pfft:
I think Des even went a little soft on it, knowing him. :)

Nobody is saying "Rex won the game."
He played a GOOD game. He made some KILLER throws to keep many of those drives going, and I didn't find either of those INTs to be so egregious. They weren't drive-killers like others had been.
Rex played a good game. The Redskins played a good game. The Redskins won big.
I'm more than happy starting next season with Rex. I think starting a rookie right off the bat is a terrible idea.

I currently lean towards Levi's position (minus the INTs)---which is a slight concern to me. :)

Rex can sling it with the best of them between the hashes. He's extremely impressive when throwing there. Outside of the numbers and deep...eh, not so much, but I thought he was really good today.

What can I say...It's hard to keep the fire burning with holiday cookies and dejected giant fans distracting me. :)
It really is getting ridiculous how consistent Rex is with the two turnovers though. 11 starts 18ints 4 lost fumbles. Exactly 2 per game... and if I didn't know better I'd think Rex through two early picks yesterday just to get them out of the way.

Not everything is Rex's fault...I've been saying that all season. If he has to run for his life all day, he won't get much done. With the injuries and suspensions we've endured, I think he's done a decent job.

i don't get why people are bothering to defend a guy when the best they can come up with is "he can do half the things a QB is supposed to do!"

There is something to this. i don't know if you guys watched the GB Chiefs game but when Rogers lost his LT and his replacement he all of a sudden was average at best. Even a stellar QB can't get the job done with people in his face every other throw.

I agree, I definitely want to see Rexy back next season as the backup or to bridge until Mike decides our rookie is ready to go. He knows the system, can play well enough and I'd much rather him coming off the bench than Beck or someone else trying to learn the system. He certainly isn't a world beater but he can manage a game and has the confidence to go for it.

that deep ball to armstrong at the end was pretty. the corner made a great play tho. it was a good nail in the coffin type play, something the skins rarely do/have the opportunity to do.

Let's see: OL currently ranked 31st in pass protection/QB hits (including last with QB hits that didn't result in a sack). Running game ranked 29th. Top 2 TE's out. Your leading WR was cut by the Eagles. But yeah, it's all Rex's fault. Priceless.

This game, with the exception of two poor plays (perhaps playcalls given we were into the wind?), showed EXACTLY how Rex SHOULD be used and our gameplan should be established. Despite our longest run going for 8 yards, we stuck with it the whole day. Helu had his lowest average of the year, yet the running game consistently gave us positive yardage and we stuck with it. The passing game, even before we built a lead, was always secondary to the run game. It allowed the play action to be effective and Rex, as he has done almost all year, was very effective at hitting intermediate routes and giving the receivers opportunities to get yards after the catch.
The offense was run almost flawlessly yesterday with a QB that knows how to run the system and was effective at doing so. The flea-flicker developed too slowly and Moss outran Rex's arm (into the wind) by the time Rex was able to release the ball. The second one was a bad throw that needed to be across the middle and he threw it vertically. But for the rest of the game, our offensive playcalls were spot on in terms of what they should be:
1) Run game first even if we're not able to get any big carries
2) Play action used off the run in very good situations with the focus on intermediate routes (could be deep with a better QB)
3) It is OK to run the ball on 3rd and short, ESPECIALLY when all of our backs consistently get extra yards after contact

Pretty much my assessment as well. He makes 3 bad plays for every good one.
Hakeem Nicks was the Redskins player of the game.
