A couple of red flags immediately are his age and the fact he was injured last year. Still, he would likely come on the cheap and would provide depth and leadership in the secondary....plus he has been very durable (except for a back injury last season) in his stint with the Seahawks. Sounds like he was more of a financial casualty than anything else...I would at least kick the tires here....

Can you say Shaun Springs 2.0? Sorry but no thanks. We are infusing our roster with players under 30 who don't have as many question marks about playing at a high level and not being hurt. We will target a CB, but someone who is younger.

Ppl usually don't let corners that can still play walk away. Go after the ufc corner from Tennessee finnigan or however u spell it

He's below Wilson and Hall and I prefer our 3rd and lower CBs be young guys developing. Pass.

Please not Finnegan either, he is a nutcase. Pretty sure Finnegan and D hall would have a bounty on who could the most personal fouls.

Then how did we get Wilson, Hall, Springs, etc.
Not saying I want Trufant, all though he would be a great guy to bring in for competition as the contract will have almost no guarentueed money in it.
But to say CBs arent available, I strongly disagree. NA (not trying to spell his name) ring a bell?

You're right, I think this year actually has a very good class of mediocre CBs who would make for good depth behind the starters. There's about 8 guys that I could see us getting to fill our #3 need.

He is a nutcase??? Do you know anything about him???? hes completely sane off the field...and a pretty decent corner ill take Hall Wilson and Finnegan....you are putting too much on the punch he took from andre johnson...

Point being is we need to stay away from guys who cause problems. He is also going to be wanting $8 to $10 mil/year. We don't have that kind of money to spend on a corner right now, especially one you refer to as "pretty decent". If you want to pursue a top corner, take a look at Brandon Carr.

Released because of his cap number and injury last year. He will sign a one year deal with someone ala Carlos Rogers and be looking to show he still has something in the tank. Assuming he still wants/needs to be in the league he would be a good bet to make this team as our nickle. I would rather us do this kind of FA deal than break the bank bringing in a Finnegan.

I don't know I am kind of okay with Hall and Wilson. Especially with Morris coaching them up. Maybe draft a young guy in the middle or late part of the draft who shows potential with coaching.

Again, understand the age/injury concerns but I'm at least curious about this for a few reasons. 1) From what I've read, he seems to be a good locker room guy/leader. We don't have a character guy in the backfield (who has also been to the Pro Bowl) .....and if we lose out on London....we will be in even greater need for this type of person on that side of the ball. 2) He has always had good range and played physical (@ 6'00" 200lbs)....which makes me wonder about a possible conversion to FS (ala the Woodsons). 3) This could likely be done at very little financial risk.

I like this angle if we lose LL.

I get what your saying but attaching Shauns name to him isn't exactly a negative. Shaun was pretty good for us while he was here.

Springs was very good for us when healthy for sure.

No doubt about it. Springs 2.0 would not be a bad scenario at all. Trufant is somewhat of a household name for a reason and I believe he would be worth at least looking into.

Anyone who gets any info on his current health -- would definitely appreciate it. The more I think about this scenario the more I think (for a variety of reasons) this could be a great *value* move that could be done largely under the radar

You're right. Mainly was just connecting that Springs was an older CB we got from Seattle, just like this would be. I did like Springs though. Trufant is a little too injury prone for my taste though.
