I may be the only one in this boat, but I know a lot of us are schedule prognosticators so it raises the question. Now that we have RG3 (assumably), do we have more primetime games in the 2012 season and more importantly, do you think the Skins are gonna play NYG in the opener? I'd love to hear my fellow schedule-nerds thoughts.

NYG plays the wednesday before week 1 so we're definitely not playing them first.

I wondered the same thing. I have a feeling RG3 and Luck will both get a MNF game.

I think it absolutely plays into how they make the schedule, Fedex.
I've been saying for sometime now, that had we traded up early and before they do the schedule, that
A)We will be playing teams early and prime time that we "normally" wouldn't have otherwise &
B)Have more prime time games that bad teams never get, the yr after they are bad.
Being that we are likely to play a Divisional opponent on opening day/night, I think you have to lock in Redskins VS Eagles(vick) here for WK-1 Prime time.
If we don't play a divisional opponent somehow for wk-1, my bet is on Carolina(cam) then.
I bet we get the usual Dallas Prime Time game.
And don't count out a possible Redskins & Steelers prime time game as well with RG3 vs Big Ben.
That could be interesting.
I bet we get 4 Prime time games Fedex. If we get even more, I will be stunned.
Had we not traded up to #2 for a QB and by going 5-11 last yr?
MIGHT get the one with Dallas, that we seem to get annually & not even that one is a lock anymore.
Now...we get at least 4.
Lock it up.
I'm So excited!!!!

If RG3 starts day one I can def see Redskins vs. Eagles week 1. No way the NFL would pass up RG3 vs. Vick

No way we open against the Giants in week one. They will either host the Packers or the Steelers.
And I don't think RG3 will make much of a difference in the TV rotations this season. IF he starts and lights it up, and the Redskins are in position to make a playoff run, then we might see a game on SNF as a result of the flex scheduling. Other than that, it will be slim pickings, maybe a MNF game and one or two featured games on Sundays. And there's always the possibility of playing Dallas on Turkey Day but that rarely happens.

I agree. I don't think we'll get too many "scheduled" primetime games. As for week one, I wouldn't be shocked if we got Carolina.

I think RG3 has more panache than Luck and hence it will be reflected in our schedule. We will be the talk of the town, everyone will want to see if the kid has the skills to pay the bills. Plus we're the redskins, only this year there will be a reason to put us on.

This is the great thing about having a potential exciting player at QB like RG3. It'll help get the Skins more primetime games and air time.

Try living out of market. More primetime games means more games I can watch from home & not have to go to a sports bar, because I refuse to pay the scumbags of DirecTV for their overpriced product.

Personally, I hate primetime games. 1 PM or 4 PM are perfect right now. While I don't think it's possible with drafting RGIII, I would like to stay under the radar for a while.

Not sure there is a worse team in the NFL in primetime games than the Redskins.

As bad as we've been in primetime, we can count on at least three, up to five or six. Philly (maybe both), Dallas, Carolina (MNF), possibly St. Louis (because of the trade) and maybe Cleveland (bidding war).

If we get a primetime game week 1, it has to be vs eagles. The Vick and RG3 comparisons are too much for it not to be. I think we'll see RG3 v Newton on primetime as well, though maybe not (both teams might still suck, but both offenses should at least be interesting to watch). I would think probably a game against the giants and cowboys as next year our division might be the closest from top to bottom that it's ever been.

I posted my schedule prediction in Kleese's thread(See post #63) or read below:
http://www.extremeskins.com/showthread.php?361883-Early-2012-Schedule-Musings-Predictions/page5
Our 2012 Opponents:
Home
Giants
Eagles
*Cowboys
*Ravens
*Bengals
*Panthers
*Falcons
*Vikings
Away
*Giants
*Eagles
*Cowboys
*Browns
*Steelers
*Saints
*Buccaneers
*Rams
Week 1: Panthers on MNF. I think Griffin vs. Newton will be a lock for the 7pm opening MNF game. ESPN will be promoting that game all summer long.
Week 2: @Eagles on SNF. Griffin vs. Vick would be a good matchup for the second week of the season.
Week 3: @Rams: We have been their bitches recently, will Griffin change our fortunes. I fully expect the Rams and Panthers and probably Green Bay to be the teams we will regularly playing to fight for a superbowl birth.
Week 4: Ravens- 4pm National game on CBS: Griffin gets a good test against the Ravens' defense.
Week 5: @Steelers- 4pm National game on FOX: Another good test for Griffin.
Week 6: Cowboys 1PM game in most of the country: Griffin shows Romo who will be the future King of the NFC EAST!
Week 7: Falcons
Week 8: Bye Week
Week 9: @Giants on SNF: Griffin shows Eli and the Giants who will be the new beasts of the East
Week 10: @Browns: Griffin will show the Browns why they will end up regretting not outbidding the Redskins for him
Week 11: Bengals
Week 12: @Cowboys- 4pm national game - Griffin makes Boys fans feel sick as the see the longtime dormats finally rise again
Week 13: Vikings
Week 14: @Saints- Griffin gives the Saints fan a show in what will be very dismal season for the Saints
Week 15: Giants- Griffin schools Eli
Week 16: @Buccaneers
Week 17: Eagles- Griffin vs Vick again
I think the Skins will get early national games with Griffin and then later on, we could be flexed if the Skins are playing well. No clue on how Griffin will do. If he's like Cam, then we should have a bright future with our rooke of the year QB.

I assume he is. However I see us getting 1 SNF & 1 MNF game not much more. That 1 game could be Wednesday night opener against the Giants. We opened with them 3 out 4 years why not another one.

Exactly.
I doubt it will be a primetime game but we've been playing the Rams a lot the last several years since we've both been bottom dwellers. I normally hate this matchup because we play down to their level, usually right after we play a good game against a better opponent, and usually lose. For once, I'm actually excited about this game. Both teams should be much better after this trade if the Rams draft well and RGIII develops quickly and Bradford and Griffin should definitely play like they have something to prove when going head-to-head.

to the point tho, I don't think rg3 will matter much to the schedule, untill he becomes an elite qb worthy of primetime matchups.

Skins-Ravens is a lock for primetime, look for that on MNF.
Skins-Saints is a good possibility for SNF (Bounty bowl).
I'd be willing to bet we get the Thanksgiving game vs Dallas.
I agree with some of the others on here though, I absolutely dread when we play in primetime. I still have nightmares about a certain MNF game that will not be talked about. Not to mention the swinging gate game.

Strongly doubt the NFL will want to hype the 'bounty bowl'
There'll be at least one Redskins-Eagles game on primetime. Rivalry, RGIII vs Vick is obviously must see throughout the country.
Redskins-Cowboys is a certain bet.
and Redskins-Panthers makes a ton of sense too

Yep. I love that matchup only because we've played it as a road game & I can get to the game easily and even host the ES Tailgate along with a few others on here & will do so for a 3rd year in a row this fall. That will be a circled game for sure...

Definitely circling the Browns game in Cleveland. I've never been there before. I have a good friend who will be either travelling with me from NYC or already living in Cleveland, depending on when we play the game.... We are both obsessed with the Skins and will be making it known that RG3 is in DC when we are there!

It is supposed to be an NFC championship rematch (unless those teams aren't scheduled to play each other). Giants and 49ers almost guaranteed

The NFL usually has the last 2 SB winners (if they are scheduled to meet) and Green Bay has to play at the Giants this year, so I'd expect that to be the opener. We might be the Sunday night game against Philly or Carolina.
All of this is assuming RG3 will start from day one.
