Yes it's at noon according to ESPNU's listing on Comcast, ESPN3's listing on ESPN3.com and "Tune in at 12:00pm noon EST" on ESPN.com's NFL page.

Now this is one guy's opinion, Merril Hoge, but he said after reviewing 120 hours of gametime between RG3 and Luck, he thinks it would be dumb for the Colts to NOT take RG3. Of course I agree, but hope they do not for the sake of my Redskins.

Accuracy, Touch, Decision making- Luck
Arm Strength, Athleticism- RGIII.
I hope the Colts get swayed by Griffin and we end up with Luck. But honestly, who cares. We're getting one or the other and it feels ******* AWESOME!

I really can say the only reason I want RG3 is because I enjoy watching mobile QB's. In terms of one being better than the other, I have no idea which I would pick. RG3 should be a great learner with great morals so I believe I'd pick him for the upside.

Luck has been the consensus Number One for two years now. He's underrated athletically, and actually has decent speed. He's got a bigger, fuller frame that is probably better for the rigors of the NFL. So it'd be great to get him too.

I have no idea which one is better, but I'll be happy with either. Luck isn't just a pocket passer either. Anyone that looks at the guy's play knows he can tuck and run, but he's more Cam Newton than Michael Vick, obviously not a huge a weapon as a runner, but I'd bet he's more durable due to his size. Who knows though. Griffin is faster and will be able to run more if he wants to.
Really I don't see anything negative about either of these guys. Neither is a running QB like Vick, but both can be very mobile, and both are amazing passers. We can't lose at this #2 pick, IMO.

Having studied both players extensively, I can say this:
1) Luck is better than RG3 right now.
2) Luck has a lower basement than RG3. Lucks bust factor is about .5%, while RG3's is probably closer to 10%. We know Luck will at least be a smart, serviceable starter for many years. He will not bust because of his smarts and poise.
3) RG3 has a higher ceiling. Because of his athleticism, RG3 has unlimited potential. He can redefine the position.
4) Luck is viewed as the consensus top pick because of the fact that he will almost undoubtedly NOT bust. Someone said they are more confident Luck will succeed than Peyton Manning or John Elway. When you use the #1 pick, you want a sure-thing, and that is why the #1 pick will be Luck.
5) While the #2 pick of RG3 will carry more risk, there is still a consensus that RG3 is also safe because of the fact that he was a throw-first, athletic QB in college and he has the leadership and moxie to make it in the NFL.

My honest feel is they are missing a few categories, Leadership, Morality, Football IQ, those all appear to go in RG3's favor as well.
Since none of us knows these guys personally, and none of us have been in their locker room or been their teammates, I'd say it's pretty impossible to say which one is a better leader or more "morale" (not sure why that one makes a difference since both guys have great character from everything that's been said/written about them. As for football IQ, Luck has already mastered a pro offense, this doesn't mean Griffin can't it just means at this point Luck is a step ahead of him.
But really, who cares. Everyone has said Luck is the best QB prospect to come out in 10 years, so if Griffin is putting up a fight that just means these are the 2 best QB prospects to come out in 10+ years. And, we get one of them to play for our team.
How many of us have looked at other teams with complete jealousy because they got lucky enough to draft Tom Brady, be in place to get Peyton Manning, signed Drew Brees in FA and the risk paid off? We are about to get one of the 2 best QB prospects in a long long time, the NEXT big QBs. We all should be thanking our lucky stars that our FO had the ***** to make this deal and get us in position to end up with one of these guys. Who gives a rat's *** which one we end up with? It's very possible we're going to have an unbelievable QB for the next 15 years.
I have a feeling this is shaping up to be the NFL's version of Magic vs Bird. Obviously both of these guys could bust, not likely but nothing is a definite when it comes to the draft. Then again, this could be one of the best QB drafts in a long time.

I'd add that this is very similar to the situation that the Colts were in when they picked Peyton Manning. Leaf rose up draft boards very fast and lots of people were saying Peyton was the safe pick but maybe not the best. NOW, obviously RG3 isn't Leaf, but the mentality that the Colts might have, after hitting it out of the park with the Manning pick, might be to go with the "safe" pick and get the next great thing, instead of going for the guy with a higher ceiling.

RG3 can do that too. Probably not right away to the extent Luck will, but he has the football IQ to definitely develop that ability. You saw it this year with Matt Ryan, which he rarely did his first two years in the NFL.
I think Luck will play better RIGHT AWAY, but the problem is he's going to a god-awful team. He might be able to get them up to 6 wins his rookie year, and that should be viewed as an accomplishment.
I think RG3 will take a longer time to peak than Luck, but his peak will be higher. Luck is going to be a pro-bowler. RG3 can be the all-pro.

One more thing, Merrill Hoge is the same guy who ranked the NFL's QBs in this order in last year before the season began:
1. Roethlisberger
2. Manning
3. Brady
4. Rodgers
5. Brees
He likes to get attention by causing some minor controversies, IMO, and he's good at it, but I doubt the Colts are listening to him for advice, nor do I think his opinion in any way tells us what actual NFL scouts think about these two guys.
chasefan31
March-21st-2012, 10:52 AM
Actually I've read several articles describing RG3 as one of the few college QBs to change plays at the line without looking to the sidelines for the coaches calls. He changed the play himself based on what the defense did while other QBs would hard count, then look to their coaches for the play call. A lot of their quick spread passing offense was based off what the QB saw at the line pre-snap.

Thanks Cali, this is why I think anyone who would be disappointed to get Luck is out of their ******* mind. The guy is one of the best QBs to come out in a long time. It's like people think we're going to be getting a less capable Matt Ryan. He is VERY mobile. To quote the video, he had 960 rushing yards in college with a 6.0 ypc avg.
People, whoever we get, we're going to be watching a QB that will very possibly be the best we've EVER SEEN in a Skins uniform. I don't mean he'll be better than our HoFers, but most of us didn't SEE them play. Just be happy we're in position to end up with one of them. No more worrying about which 2nd tier prospect we might get stuck with.

That's pretty much what I think too. People have already envisioned RG3 as our starter, so they are having a hard time with the thought of Luck being the guy, and they interpret it as Luck's not as good.

Listening to ESPN 910, Wes McElroy always has Chris Landry on the show - he's been involved with NFL scouting and what not for 25 years. There's a system they use to rate quarterbacks coming out of college. Peyton Manning was rated a 7.0. Landry said that this draft class is extremely special. They have Luck rated as a 7.4, and RGIII as a 7.0. That got me really excited!

Poor technique. Something along the lines of how he started making the timer start early. It was never really a speed issue; just a 40 technique issue.

Luck has been the consensus Number One for two years now. He's underrated athletically, and actually has decent speed. He's got a bigger, fuller frame that is probably better for the rigors of the NFL. So it'd be great to get him too.

The issue here is we have no emotional attachment to Luck cause he has been out of reach since week when we won our 3rd game. So most of us went all in on RG3 to the point that we already consider him a Redskin.
Yes. This is exactly what's happened. Luck is a better prospect, he pretty much always has been, the large majority of truly objective analysts would say so. But it's a lot more fun to be a fan of RGIII than Luck.
The path their careers will take from here on out pretty much comes down to the level of organizational support anyway. Once you know you've got a special talent (and both are special), does one player's slightly superior grade really matter all that much anyway?

Im not advocating drafting Wright I just wanted to know why excuse (if any) he had for his terrible combine time since the change is pretty drastic (his second time today was a 4.43). I guess he was out of shape for the combine but if he was out of shape why did he choose to run at the combine?

This years draft will hopefully lessen my bitterness for the 2004 and 2005 NFL drafts in which we let Big Ben and Aaron Rodgers slide right past us. Sean Taylor was amazing and Carlos Rogers seriously underrated but as we've learned the hard way, a franchise QB is much more important.
Shanahan hasn't wasted time looking for his. Campbell wasn't bad but he wasn't a franchise QB, Mike sent him packing. McNabb didn't work out, immediately gone. Wrecks and Beck were as bad as expected, both demoted. He is doing what has needed to be done around here for a long time, aggressively seeking the piece that has eluded us and not settling for someone that might maybe with the right people around him and a killer defense be just good enough.

I forgot there was another one (RG) and I'm looking over from the desk going "wtf?" :ols:
:ols: Sorry that was just mean of me. Course, you know how I roll.
But seriously, maybe the Skins should draft him, so that RGIII can have the III on his jersey! :geek:

You know what, the more I think about it, the more I think the Colts and Skins have already talked and know who the Colts are taking. I don't think the Skins FO would go down and have dinner with a guy who they aren't sure they're getting. If the Colts were interested in taking RG3, or if they weren't sure, the Skins would be putting themselves out there in a MAJOR way. I just get the feeling that for them to be this out in the open about meeting with Griffin and things, the Colts have already committed to Luck.
Maybe not, but it just seems a little too in the open that they've been meeting with Griffin and are so friendly with him. If they ended up with Luck that would be a huge pile of egg on their faces. I doubt they'd take such an unnecessary risk like that.

Luck has been THE #1 QB for two years. The Colts got rid of Peyton freaking Manning to make room for the next Peyton freaking Manning haha.. I doubt they go another way no matter how much RGIII does. I don't think they will take that chance to pass on "a sure thing". Of course, that's my opinion.

2. He's shaped really weird. Tall but skelator-like.

I know it's not a huge hint but the autograph signing RG3 is doing in Chantilly on the 31st it was posted that he has agreed to autograph Redskins items. Thats huge in the card show world I don't think he approves it unless he knows something. Plus like you said All Redskins brass in waco having dinner with him. That is super cocky IMO if they don't know he's gonna be a redskin especially with a team drafting ahead of them also looking for a QB.

Think you guys are right. The Colts and Redskins FO's must have talked, they don't directly compete but once every 4 years. It doesn't make for good TV so the NFL probably wants them to keep that under wraps, as much drama as they can add to that first night coverage.

The name Luck needs to be associated with a horseshoe...
But yeah, I think fans have become attached to RGIII now.....Luck calls his own plays in a pro style offense, is very athletic, and I think most would disagree with Hoge on the accuracy and touch, maybe in the long ball RGIII is better.
We'd be lucky to get luck, but RGIII could take the position to a whole new level.....we just don't know that. Honestly, we're kinda fortunate that the Colts have the pressure of screwing it up. We'll take the other guy, and tell him that we'd have taken him #1......and he's out guy, and underdog who's gonna have to work hard and prove he shoulda been top pick.

These guys were never top prospects. Other than Ganaway, Wright, and of course Griffin, I don't think any of these guys were even invited to the combine. That was why it was so important to Griffin to still workout- to give these guys a stage to at least try and show their abilities. Otherwise, very few people would even be watching these guys.

I think they want to run the wildcat more so that's probably part of it. Also motivating Sanchez who just got a contract extension after proving he isn't very good. I honestly think the jets are on a slippery slope towards a complete collapse.
