Has anyone heard any updates on Chris Cooley's recovery from last year? I haven't heard much about him lately and he isn't doing his Wjfk radio show and his web page hasn't been updated in a long time.
So just wondering if he is healthy and ready to go. ?

to add to the OP, please DO NOT turn this in to a Chris Cooley debate if the thread stays open...

Hope he's healthy and back next year. Him and Davis make a scary double threat.

Ditto, especially with a guy like RG3 behind center.

I don't think there has been any real news about Cooley's rehab, has there?

I asked Rich Tandler this a while back. He said that Cooley said he could have played last season towards the end, but he was already on IR. He should be all healed up and ready to go this season....HTTR

this is from just after the trade with the Rams.

Chris Cooley is said to be back to full health and ready to go. His blocking ability will be just as, if not more, valuable to the Redskins this year than his receiving skills.

I also think his pottery skills have improved a ton since last year.... so that should be an added bonus

Cool, thanks for letting me know how he's doing. I guess he's just laying low and enjoying time with his family before the circus comes back to town.

Cooley should have been in street clothes for the first half of the 2011 season, and then in the lineup for the last half. They did it backwards. His knee was obviously nowhere near 100% at the start of the season, dude could hardly jog. I hope they're right this time.

I can't wait for the 1-2 punch of Cooley/Davis (or vice versa). Cooley has always been consistent and a phenomenal tight end to watch.

I heard because of his salary someone said he may get cut or need to restructure (maybe JLC?) but who knows. I could be mistaken by saying that.

I'm pretty sure it was he offered to restructure if need be.

Same here. Couple Davis/Cooley with our receivers, and a improved running game, this offense COULD be potent. Especially with RGIII/Luck throwing the ball. Hail.

It;s been a while since I have had an article to post in brbn but the last one said his rehab was going well and he expected to be ready by training camp.;

Shouldve traded him a couple years ago, but looks like we will still have him and i believe he can still be productive if healthy. Last year at times he looked slow but that was due to his injury.

Good to know, I look forward to seeing Chris back on the field.

HTTR!

What a boost the offense would receive just by having Cooley back at full speed. He obviously hasn't done much in the last year or two but I feel like some people on ES forget what a stud TE Cooley was a few years back. If Cooley is back to full strength, I think he'll have more of an impact on this years team than Fred Davis.

Wish I could remember, I think about 3 weeks ago maybe 2.

The Skins should trade him. Even for a late rd draft pick.

If he's having a good off-season and looks like he's back to form then I'm willing to give him 1 more year. After that, yes, trade him.

Actually, if he has a good off-season, that would be the best time to trade him. That's why the good teams are the good teams. They're not afraid to part ways with players that have seen their best days.

Will you guys give this a rest? Please? This constant "trade Cooley" nonsense is getting boring and repetitive.

I want a young team. If Cooley was on the Pats, Eagles, Steelers or any other good team, he would have been traded years ago. Nothing against Cooley, but it's time to turn the page.

1) He's only 29. Every player at every position can't be 22 years old. You need veterans sprinkled in.

2) We are not the Steelers, Eagles (what the hell have they done?) or Pats (who haven't won a SB in 7 yrs)

3) Why don't we let him show us his knee has healed and he's back to 100%, before we discard him. He can still be productive (but I'd like to see his cap number reduced)

4) Fred is a Smoke & Toke away from us starting Paulsen (like last year) if you trade Cooley. TE is an area of depth with Chris on the roster. We won't have to worry about TE. Trade him and you open up another hole to fill. How would you fill his spot? Draft choice? Very "weak" year for TEs in the draft.

5) The team has gotten progressively younger the last 2 years. If Cooley was 31-32, I'd say yeah. Moss is 32, Gaffney is 31, Fletch is 36. Cooley can still produce like these guys now that his knee is fixed.

Question asked and answered. And then, as predicted in the thread, the ES Custom Dual-Sided Repetitive Automaton Function kicked in and it became another trade Cooley thread.
