Has anyone with a rooted phone tried Jelly Bean yet? I'm hearing outstanding things. Looks like they are finally putting a huge effort forward to improve integration and smoothness.

It's moreso Verizon than Motorola. There is an ICS leak currently sitting on the Moto staging server. After multiple builds popping up on the testing servers it's fairly safe to say this is the final build awaiting approval from Big Red.

I have tried a few of the alpha ROMs for my Epic Touch 4G. Even with the bugs, it's buttery smooth! Just finally got to try it out properly by getting a Nexus 7 yesterday. So far, I love it. Nice and smooth and lag free with plenty of features. This is probably the first version I think could stand on it's own, without needing a Sense/ Touchwiz/etc. skin.
This is also my first device in a long time that I haven't felt the need to root....and that's saying a lot!

ICS can sbsolutely stand on its own. The overlays weigh Android down.

Check out the XDA developer forums and search for your device. As long as it is properly rooted, there are plenty of ROMs out there for it...even JB ones! Still alpha, but you will get a taste

Check system update. They are rolling it out in waves. You'll need to be on Wi-Fi.
So far it seems really smooth and the voice recognition is solid though I only tested if for the hell of it. It's still a gimmick just like Siri.

Better than Android 4, Android 5 no?
On Verizon the Galaxy SIII is the best phone but I'd still rather have my Galaxy Nexus because I value having pure Android/faster updates over a slightly better processor/screen. But the SIII is definitely the top of the line.

The smoothness is great. My biggest problem with Android was always the lag and glitchy interface. This runs like butter. If the new Android phones run like this, I don't think I'll be switching to the iPhone either.

This is the only problem I have with the Android system. There's phones out there that are barely a year old and still don't even have ICS. Yet they're about to come out with KLP. My few month old SG3 doesn't even have Jelly Bean yet.

I'm loving JB. Getting updates sooner was part of the reason i bought the GN though
The problem with the non-Nexus phones is that everything has to be tested by carrier and phone maker. It sounds like JB should be coming soon for the S3, but how soon is anyone's guess. And Jelly Bean has been out for what? 4-5 months now?

I was holding out for a Nexus phone, but the SIII just seemed so perfect. It's a great phone don't get me wrong. I just get so frustrated with the whole Android updating situation. It really isn't that hard, but its mainly the carriers that drag their feet constantly on this stuff. There's no reason they can't push these updates out faster, but they just don't want to put the time into it.

Its definitely not on Google. Its the phone makers and the carriers. And mostly the carriers. For instance, JB is out on I believe all international GSIII's. Yet none of the American carries have pushed out a JB update yet. Why? They have to load all their crap on there. This phone is going to be HSPA+, and have only 8GB of internal storage which is a problem for apps, even if it has removable storage this isn't ideal. No LTE just seems like a step backwards. LG is not exactly known for creating magical hardware either.
I think with the last Verizon Galaxy Nexus, Google and Verizon dropped the ball as the phone had a lot of drama. Overall I don't think carriers/Verizon want phones with no bloatware which is why you are seeing this LG Nexus, which will probably be sold through the Google Play store only.
I am rocking a Motorola Razr HD and I couldn't be happier. Point is I am not impressed with this Nexus 4 device, at all.

Wow, just read the rumored specs. To have no LTE is absurdly pathetic. And that would be a step back but as we know, you never know until it's announced regarding hardware. I don't see how, in 2012 you release a top line smartphone with no LTE. The only good thing is my Galaxy Nexus would then still be the best Nexus device available and I won't jhave to feel bad that it's time at the top is over.

So with 4.2, nothing really too ground breaking. The multi-user support for tablets is pretty neat. Miracast seems pretty sweet, but will take time for more TVs to incorporate it before it becomes widely used. And the new keyboard is nice, but if you have Swype its nothing really different.

Hey dudes,
I'm going to add a line to my plan to replace my Droid Bionic with a cracked screen. Any recommendations out there on a good device?
Love the HTC DNA I picked up. Lot of good options out there. Just go with Jelly Bean.

Hmmm I've heard some good things about this one so I might give it a go.
I started to go with an iphone but I keep shying away from it for some reason.
Thanks man!

If you're hot on the iPhone go for it. Its easy to use and it works. If you want an advanced phone that does more and gives you more power out of your phone, so that you can take advantage of new technology, pick one of the android phones.
As far as windows phones, I don't have one but some of them are intriguing. Personally, I'd go windows before I bought an iPhone now.

Pretty much exactly what he said. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Meaning just got to jelly bean? Right?
Play with GoogleNow, I love that feature. Just hold the home button until it pops up.

4.1 was Jelly Bean. 4.2 is still Jelly Bean but with more features and refresh.

No 4.2 is updated Jelly Bean. I've had 4.1 jelly Bean since Fall. I don't use Google Now all that much.

What phone got the first update? Nexus?
Is 4.2 called Key Lime Pie?

I was having horrible issues with my GPS with my Galaxy Nexus. None of the "fixes" worked. Got the update this morning, and GPS is fixed and working great. I like it so far, interface is a little different at the lock screen, but not bad.

HTC One phone came out for pre order today for AT&T and for Sprint tomorrow. Cant wait to get my hands on that phone. Sucks that it comes with 4.1, but whatever.
I have had an iphone for the past 2 years, mainly because of apples immaculate hardware, i hate the plasticky feel of phones. But the HTC One takes the cake. I was going to wait for the S4, but the more I read about the HTC One, i am convinced that this will be my new love lol

I thought I'd chime in, I've had 4.2 on the Nexus4 for a few months now. I'm a big fan. The access to the camera from the home screen is great and once I spent some time using google now I absolutely love it. If I'm flying it keeps me updated on when I have to leave for my flight, taking into account traffic and airline delays. The voice command work really well, but I mostly use them to set alarms and timers.
Over all I'm pretty happy with it.

I have a Droid 4. I love having an actual keyboard to type on. The problem is that since the update, they keyboard shift key doesn't always work. I have found that if I hold it and type the key, it accepts the shift key. But just pressing it, doesn't hold until the next key like it used to. Also, the caps lock doesn't work. The weird thing is, that occasionally it will work. I've yet to find a pattern of working vs non-working. The only other problem I've seen is the voice to text doesn't always work. That seems less frequent than the keyboard issue.

Best part of Android 4.2 is essentially having Swype built in.

Does anyone know when the next Nexus 10 may come out? Are there any rumors?
