Chief Z is having a problem and he needs our help. His 1993 Cadillac is broke and he is having to find a ride everywhere. The entire dashboard is not working. No speed no gas gage a whole lot of nothing. He does not have the money to take it and get it fixed so I was wondering are there any mechanics here on ES that might live in MD by the stadium that could help him get his car back on the road?

I had a buddy have a similar problem with his truck. He pulled the gauge cluster out and sent it in to be fixed. From what I recall it was pretty reasonable.
Not saying that he could afford that either, but it was much less than replacing it, or having it fixed at the dealership.
I guess where I am going with this is, if someone can take it out and put it back in for him, perhaps we could take up some type of donations to help pay for it to be fixed. Now I have to ask my buddy where he sent it out to.

A paypal account to contribute shouldn't be hard to set up. If we don't find someone to do the work themselves I'd trust Huly to take care of the contributions through paypal.

I'd be willing to take a look at it but time is a major factor. I'm working Mon-Sat 7:30-5 each of the next 4 weeks and am about to put a contract in on a house. Huly get in touch with me and we'll see if we can make something work time wise.

Had a similar problem in a GM vehicle. The small resistors on the back of the panel had corroded and fallen off. Trip to Radio Shack and a little soldering solved the problem. Cost less than five bucks!

I'd donate to get Chief Z a new(er) ride. The man should have something from this millennium.
