I'm asking because I'm curious as to what your arm felt like before you had it.

Back in high school (10 years ago), when I was still playing baseball, I tweaked my elbow. Didn't think anything of it, because a little ice and rest and the pain went away. Only it never really did. Any time I've done any serious throwing my elbow is in pain. Not just soreness either. Above and below the joint (on the axis of movement) the muscle/tendon/ligament (whatever it is) starts really hurting - almost to the point of me being unable to move my arm without pain. I'm the WR coach for my high school's football team, and whenever we're doing drills and I'm throwing them the ball, the pain comes back. There have been days that I haven't been able to move my arm after practice.

I don't know what's wrong with it, but I have to think that it's something relatively serious since it's something that is recurring in the same place with the same pain. I know TJ surgery is around the elbow, but I'm just curious as to anyone who's actually had it to relate to me what they felt in their elbow before the surgery.

Thanks for any info.

Well, no one has answered you, but I will, and the answer is no. I pitched in high school and frequently had a dead arm (shoulder/elbow), but a little Aleve perked me right up. I did hurt my shoulders in later years weightlifting, and had constant soreness when I was running (yes, in my shoulder/chest area) but it turned out to just be tendonitis. I'd try some rehab type exercises before you decide to go under the knife.

I have not had it, and am not a doctor. But, they say when you tear your UCL, it hurts in your forearm, not your elbow. Usually, your forearm just feels really really tight. So, I've read.

Not saying you shouldn't get it check. There's also other problems you can have with your elbow that are treated with surgical and non-surgical options other than TJ surgery.

Thanks guys. I haven't called the doc yet about it, I was just trying to get some insight. I appreciate it.

Just saw this thread and I think I can help...

I've been dealing with this type issue for about two years now. I think I tore the tendon trying to get my bike into the back of my car. I felt just a little pull at the time but the next day was agony. It was very painful for a while but ice and rest helped. However the condition has never gone away. Even something as trivial as spending too much time on the computer pushing a mouse around is enough to set it off and cause sharp jabs of pain. fortunately I have found one thing that helps...

Ace bandage (and others) makes a band that you strap around your forearm (http://www.acebrand.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/AceBrand/Home/Products/Catalog/?PC_7_RJH9U523007440I2J5O2R30225000000_nid=F32C4XF Z5Sgs11640DJ385glR9SXQ6S6Q9bl). What it does, is it isolates the damaged tendon from the muscles a little. Sort of like those tuning bars people strap on to the neck of a guitar. It's not a cure but is sure does help.
