I'm glad he didn't come to Baltimore, he probable would have been another Albert Belle. Take that money sign Pudge and try and find some starting pitching. If we get Pudge then Palmeiro will play first most the time and Lopez and Pudge can split time at C and DH.

I'm getting tired of the Damn Yankees signing all the good pitching every year, I wish the Orioles would get a few good SP to help the team out. You can't win Angelos with just hitters you need pitching to, he needs to stop letting the good pitches we had leave (MOOSE) and get a few and this team is good enough to get back in the playoffs and we all know that.

You know what forget about Vlad. We already got some group of players that can put up big numbers. Now we got more money to bring othe Free Agents. Like Pudge.

I don't know...Vlad is a stud. All I heard for the past month was how Vlad was coming here...what happened? I knwo we offered him the 6-year deal, but what happened? Was it the O's dragging their feet that sent him to Cally, or did he just not want to play here?
His numbers over the past 4 years are disgusting...I think he would have been a .330, 40 HR, 130 RBI man in Camden Yards...he's only 27!!!
The Angels lucked out, in my opinion.

Well all I read on some paper, I belive on the orioles hompage, they said the Angels stepped in and made him an offer. He signed very quickly. So the Orioles didn't have a chance to give him a better deal. All I know that the Angels offered him a 5 year contract woth around 70 million dollars. The orioles offered around a 6 year deal offering 78 million per year.

i am really reeling from this one. VLAD is a great player and i think his back would have gotten a lot better playing on grass everyday. no not that grass, although that would help his back too (at least the pain). now to ease my pain... d'oh! i really though VLAD could put up some monster numbers here. but all in all, his was just dicking around our franchise to get some other "secret negotiator" team to pony up a couple more million. i was thinking just last night. what if the O's had just pulled their offer off the table. he had it for a month or so and hadn't said jack about it. we could have said, go ahead and sign a one or three year deal for significantly less that what we are willing to pay you. jack*****!
well, that is money that we can put toward some starting pitching next year and hopefully Magglio Ordonez (who i think is as good as VLAD).

With the players we have now all we need is some good pitching and managing and we can be a good team this year. Put that money up Angelos until next year and the first thing you go and get as soon as you can is 2 Starting Pitchers.

Obviously he didn't sign with the O's because he didn't want to play here. Not exactly sure what his reasons were but most think its because of the lack there of a Dominican Republic base although it seems there was definetly something else wrong.

to hell with vlad, he didnt want to play here anyway. he was using our contract offer as leverage so he could get a better deal on the west coast (dodgers). wait til next offseason when we can sign either maggs or carlos beltran, and we will still have enough $$ to spend on a top of the rotation starter to compliment our young guys. maine will be a beast.

Dodgers? Where did that come from? The angels signed him. Plus if anybody was in that spot to use a team for leverage to gain more money, they would. That's only common sense. The orioles will be better, but that Al East is one tough division. They will finish 3rd behind the Sox and Yanks.

he stated through his agent that LA was where he wanted to go (NL team, grass, big dominican pop.) LA didnt want to tie all that money up when they had questions about his back. steve phillips also publicly stated that he could not find a bank to insure guerreros contract after they saw his medical records, otherwise he wouldve stayed in the NL w/the mets or dodgers. and back to what I said in the first place, he never had any intention of playing here, we were the only team to offer him a long term deal all winter and instead of taking it he used us like a toilet. he got 1 less year and only 1 mil more per year w/the angels, doesnt sound like it helped his leverage much.
